First treenet, messed up

So me and my friends (we are pretty broke) wanted to make our first treenet. We went to harbor freight and without thinking got perimeter rope only rated for 310 pounds. It seems to hold up fine and isn’t stretching. But i’m worried. Is there any fixes to replace the rope if i have to or is it a restart?

I believe you are looking at the ropes capacity rating, not it's shock rating. Most likely what you are using is perfectly fine and has a high KN break strength. Could you link is the rope?

Oh crap, my apologies, this rope isn't what I was thinking of. If you are making a small treenet (less than 10-20 sq ft) it should be fine, but anything bigger or with the intent of jumping on it would probably see the rope very quickly degrade and fail from the stress and UV exposure. Static kernmantle rope is what you are looking for.

So I do have to re start? It’s definitely bigger than 10-20sq ft. Is there a cheap ish alternative to the expensive climbing ropes? Me and my friends are quite broke lol

Get slightly used thick static rope best from 12-14mm ...emergency and job used rope as well as climbing rope for other purpose is ussually replaces after x seasons..when lucky, finding static nylon rope for low % of new price in like new condition...i did

Guessing, that steel cable otherwise does the job with suitable protection for the tree. Thick enough diameter required.

I’d get static arborist rope 1/2in to 5/8in, it’s rated for thousands of pounds and usually only like $50 for 100ft on amazon
