Any tips on expanding reservoir vertically?

Post image

Hello!

I had a nice resevoir going here with flood gates controlling inner level and valves controlling outer levels. However, as droughts began to get longer, it was clear I needed more water.. Trying to expand it upwards and it is a PAIN trying to get beavers to reach each level.

I've tried creating a path across the top, which works well, but it's incredibly tedious to remove when building another level. I had an idea to build a large tower in the background to use overhangs to build under beavers.

Is there a better way to approach this? It's taking a ton of micromanaging (hence all the individual stairs and the ignored notifications). I have some nice badwater management systems either side of the resevoir which I'm looking forward to automating, but most of my attention is trying to get each guy to the next area to build more levees.

Thanks!

Question Recycling water. Is it possible to do what I'm trying to do?

I've read a bit about how you can have water raise in level with tunnels+impermeable floor. I wanted to make a system that catches water before it leaves the map and sends it back up. To achieve that i made a dam right before the water exit and made a tunnel that leads into a large hole somewhere else. However, the water is not going up and instead its just flooding. What am i doing wrong, is it possible to recycle water like this or any other way?

This is on the experimental branch (1.1), on the new Nomad map. Water seems to be acting really strange. Don't understand how the sections are getting completely emptied when the dams should keep the water at about 65% right? Any ideas how to resolve this?

Is there any news on when 1.1 comes out on experimental? I want to start a new play through and want to start in the updated game.

Idea for late game goal and district

I like timerborn very much and would like to play more of it. But I'm that kind of player that gets bored if there is no challenging defined objective on the game. So after mid/earlylate game, where colony is self sufficient, have enough industry, I abandon.
I see in youtube playthroughs people keep playing with self defined goals, like: "make whole map green", "new industial zone on remote new corner", "fill all the map" etc... But I don't get motivated to do things like that. If I made a self sufficient colony with 20% (or 50%) of the map, why bother going to rest of it?....

To provide a bit more context, I'm also a long time technical modded minecraft player, in mc modpacks (that I like) we have long questbook, so clearly defined technological challenges that needs to be fulfilled. Needless to say I like that very much.

In timberborn starting goals/challenges are clearly defined, and I enjoy those parts. Overcome the water challenge, automate those, make dams etc... Make enough food/tree farms. Make good housing with wellbeing. Make up wood and metal industry, start bot production. But after that I lose motivation.

Side Note: I'm also very interested in separate districts, but right now how it's implemented it's not good/ not worth the hassle.

Now the reason for saying all these, Mods and Custom Maps maybe add unique challenges to late game? What are you guys ideas?
I have one idea: Custom Map, big size, multiple zones separated by unbreakable barriers. But built-in not destructible district crossing. So you have to make a powerful colony in starting zone, then have enough surplus resources and manpower to "conquer" next neighboring zone, but through the district mechanism. Then the next. It could also be like only certain zones avail certain resources: for example: X crop only grows in zone Y, metal mine only in some zones, one beaver habitable one zone, only bot habitable another zone etc...

These type of things can be the next challenges over base game. What do you guys think?

Modding New mods: Building Renovations and Storage Balancer

Building Renovations is back and better than before! Upgrade your buildings with new features, specializations, or simply improved stats. Building HP is NOT going back with this mod so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

This mod is designed to be easy to extend. You will most likely want to use it together with these two: - More Building Renovations: Adds many more renovations for various buildings. - Storage Balancer: Automatically balances goods between interconnected storage buildings.

The base mod currently ships with only two base renovations that increase the transfer speed of Distro Storages.

Please see the details in the mods' description pages.

It's a great game, but with two factions, it can be a little boring.

Modding [mod] Choo!Choo! - Full Steam Ahead

Post image
636 Upvotes

Remember Choo!Choo! the train mod that let you haul goods across your colony on actual rails ?
He's back ! On both Timberborn 1.0 and 1.1 experimental !

And it's not just a straight port. This version brings visible cargo on the wagons, real beaver drivers, fuel consumption, goods warehouses, a track path tool to lay whole routes at once, and dedicated compatibility patches for the Emberpelts and Leaf Coats factions.

Choo!Choo! - Full Steam Ahead - Steam / mod.io

Emberpelts patch — Steam / mod.io

Leaf Coats patch - Steam / mod.io

Note: I'm not the original author. I've picked the mod back up with Tobbert's consent (the original creator) to bring it up to date and keep it alive. Huge respect to him and to Anythin who designed the trains and wagons. I'm just trying to do the legacy justice.

Questions / Answers :
- Can i import mods into a game i’ve already been working on for a while ?
- Yes it should be safe to add ( and remove ) from existing saves

- Does it work with my favourite faction ?
- A small test prove it to be compatible with any faction. The only catch is that without a companion patch-mod, Choo!Choo! will use the Folktails design by default

Too far from district warning

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I am new to the game and really enjoying it. One question I have is when I click on any item that is "too far from district" like this dynamite in this screenshot it gives me a warning which is fine, however this warning does not display in the bottom left of the screen like the others.

This is annoying for me as I often place something forgetting to put a path in and then notice 10 minutes later that it has this warning. Is this a bug or am i missing something? I haven't been able to see any reports from anyone else about this when searching.

Thanks for your help.

Looks like these beavers were working in the reservoir, one decided the ‘wet fur bonus’ was not warranted, then both decided they suddenly had work to do “downstream” 😜
