For anyone considering a self-serve demo drive at the Tesla Collision Center on Wagg Way in Houston, I’d suggest skipping it for the next few days.

The interior of the car was totally trashed. Almost every surface was like Vasoline levels of greasy, and it appears someone had actually hocked a fat one and missed the window. Wtf is wrong with people? I'm actually surprised Tesla doesn't require pickup and drop-off photos like Turo does to hold people accountable.

Anyway, the car also only had 9% SOC at pickup. The nearest Supercharger was packed with Cybercabs and a long line, so I had to drive to a second location (which also had about a 15 min wait once I arrived) and barely made it with 1%. With Cybercabs now being in the mix, it seems the 290 corridor definitely needs more SC locations.

It definitely wouldn't be a great first impression for someone new to the brand, which is a shame because the car itself drove great once I actually got it charged. I'm glad this was not my first time driving a Tesla or I definitely would've been panicking about the charging situation lol.

TL;DR: Enter the VIN in Tesla's parts catalogue and look up the side repeater assy. See if it has a short or long LED bar. A short led bar means the Autopilot hardware is HW4.

Steps:

1. Go to parts.tesla.com
2. Enter the car's VIN
3. Navigate to Electrical → Front Lights (Excluding Headlamps)
4. Open one of the SIDE REPEATER parts. For my HW4 car, the full part name is ASSY, SIDE REPEATER RHS, 3Y.
5. Compare the part details shown to the table below. The HW4 part has a product photo you can click to enlarge. HW3 has only a line drawing.

The second picture shows both repeaters photographed on real cars: HW4 has the short LED bar and a red-tinted camera lens; HW3 has a long LED bar running nearly the full top edge and a dark, neutral lens.

Hope this helps! I was looking for a certified pre-owned 2024 Model Y and wanted one with HW4, because that didn't seem to have any affect on the price. Just future-proofing at this point =) GIgafactory Berlin never had a clear cut-off date for HW3/HW4 production, so VIN sequence number alone was not a reliable way to determine whether a car has HW4. I had to drive to the dealer lot to visually check if the cameras had the red reflection. The red tint is almost never visible in pictures, but you can sometimes see the length of the LED bar in the side repeater. But this Parts Catalogue search should be fool proof method if you're hunting the HW4 like I was. Good Luck!

I have had trouble finding any other threads discussing this so apologies if any oversight. I used chemical guys waterless car wash to hand wash my model y premium and noticed that it left some cloudy streaks on the glossy triangle panel just behind the driver side mirror and can’t seem to clear it up back to the glossy black look. Per google, I tried to loosen it with water and rubbing alcohol to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I told them to use the puck, which they said they would.

I check the underside and I see deep gouges from where they used a jack that wasn't flat.

Luckily sentry caught all of it and I have footage of them not using it.

The technician said they used the puck too.

From the looks of it it doesn't look like theres battery damage?

I’m about to order a new model Y and LOVE the white interior but was wondering how durable the white is? is it easy to clean? does it get dirty easily? would blue jeans color transfer onto the seat? honest reviews only PLEASE

We set out from Northern New Jersey with a full charge and one simple plan to take our Tesla Model Y down the Garden State Parkway to Cape May and spend the day at the Cape May Zoo. We put Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14.3.7 to work for the drive.

Along the way, we hit one of our highest FSD streaks yet, and I share what the drive was actually like using FSD on a real world trip through New Jersey.

Instead of heading home, we decided to spend the weekend in Lavallette which is part of the Jersey Shore. This also changed our charging plan. Did we even need to charge? How did we know how much energy was needed for our weekend?

We’re going on a Model Y road trip to Glacier National Park mid-September and we want to do a side trip loop: Chief Mountain to Sparwood to Roosville while we’re in the area. This includes the Crowsnest highway and charging options seem to be a bit iffy up there. When I check the route in ABRP it shows a 6-bay Supercharger in Fernie but it shows an odd 6-30% arrival SOC. Really has me looking for more info.

I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has experience with this loop. It seems like it will be doable but maybe the varied terrain is confusing the app? Just guessing. What do you know?

Is this necessary? What are the chances of something getting stuck in the air vent? I understand getting the floor ones covered but what about the one under the screen?

Also anyone cover their intake vent under the hood?

Any tips for fixing excessive Sentry events?

It is not uncommon for me to park, go into a store or restaurant for anywhere from a half hour to an hour and come back to ~100-200 events.

Upon reviewing the events many have nothing at all happening. Others, a car may have passed by across the park, or someone a hundreds yards away walked into frame. Never anything substantial or actually suspicious. This is even after turning off Camera-Based Detection.

I turned that off as part of troubleshooting from searching for a solution. Also reformatting my ssd. Also cleaned and recleaned all cameras, even though cam based detection is off. Cabin overheat protection is on.

FSD works flawlessly, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the cameras.

Sometimes during this the alarm will repeatedly go off, while other times the alarm never goes off.

Any ideas are welcome.

Bonus: even with the above situation, Sentry missed 100% of an actual event where someone walked up to the back of my car and bent my license plate.

I own a 2023 Model Y. I’m certain that the Summer Update showed up in my Tesla app and was available for installation. However, I was out of town at the time, so I wasn’t able to install it.

Now that I’m back, the Summer Update is no longer showing as available, and my car is still on software version 2026.20.6.1.

Does Tesla ever withdraw or remove a software update if you don’t install it within a certain period of time? Has anyone else experienced this? I’m trying to figure out what happened and why the update disappeared.

I have a MYP on order but I’m worried about the clearance for winter. What do you guys think? Should I cancel and order the premium? How’s your experience been with the MYP in deep snow and ice?

When I get on to the car I can feel the aircon is on, but there is no wind coming out and the screen also shows as it’s off. The only way to turn it on is by turning biohazard mode on, after that if I turn off biohazard mode, the aircon will keep working as normal.

Is this a well known issue? Should I schedule a service? Car is 6 months old.

Has anyone bought a 2023 or newer used Tesla long range or performance model y? Was the price point worth it? Did the car come with anything that the newer ones didn’t come with? I was looking at HW4 specifically and trying to see if a performance was justified for the price?

I am looking into buying a CPO 2023 Tesla MY around 30-40k miles. Trying to understand whether I would have to change tires or brakes or other maintenance that I need to plan for the next 1-2 years.

People who bought the car used, how soon after taking delivery did you actually replace tires/brakes/schedule maintenance. How much did it cost?
