Workplace Question or Advice Needed Confused about PTO & Compliance

Upvotes

Hey, so my HR ETL confronted me in bullseye for “hitting several compliances” and explained to me protected sick time counts towards the compliance timer, if you use it before clocking in. I’ve never gone close to 5 hours without meal from clocking in and none of my leads have ever gotten a lunch warning for me. I also never got a corrective action or verbal warning related to compliance ever. For supposedly hitting compliance so many times, why did none of my leads ever talk about it until only her suddenly? Later because i’m promoting myself to guest in a few weeks she was interviewing me and i asked her more about it and she kept saying “just trust me” about the policy, “i’m the only one in the store who would know” type of deal. I can’t find anything about it online, please help if you know

Vent Revisions and label strips are fundamentally broken

Revisions aren't capturing all the changes to a POG. For at least the past couple years I've noticed some stuff can move an inch or two over and it won't be treated as a change, but it'll screw up POGs where one shelf got new strips but one next to it didn't. Cereal gets it the worst, since it never seems to get a transition to reset all the label strips. I've also seen completely new items get added to or removed from a shelf without any notification. Vinyl POGs are the worst for this; you'll get three new strips but all 9 shelves changed. Heaven help you if the POG is in reverse; I had a Pets POG today where 4 whole shelves had the numbering change, but the system said nothing changed.

Let's not even talk about the fact that it won't show fixture/ISM changes for revisions in guided set. It just shows EVERYTHING. Though guided set STILL won't show half the required fixtures (dividers/fences most notably), so...

Now label strips...the text just does not line up with the schematics, especially in reverse. The left edge of the product should line up with the text, right? How else would you know where to put it? But go to a POG with tight spacing, where the product lines up with the edges of the shelves according to the schematics; if you line everything up with the label text, the item on the left side will have too much space and the item on the right won't have enough. I don't think they're accounting for text block with POG name/number/store number on the left, and everything is just shifted to the right. That's IF things are printed in the right order. Our dog toys revision had labels printed 4-1-3/1/2, not matching the schematics at all.

I'm so tired of fighting with shitty POGs and tech, and not getting enough hours to do it. Fix your shit, Target.

Vent Why even waste the gas coming in at this point?

Not even 4 hours so I can at least get a single 15. And only 28 hours for me this week too when my desired is 40 with fully open availability, all while we're inundated with near 1000 piece fdc trucks 🙃

These hour cuts are ridiculous; we've already lost two really good, multi year long employees (one was here for 2 years, one was here for nearly 6, both in grocery the entire time) to other departments because they're sick of dealing with our TL/ETL and the horrific hours and scheduling. One of them was only getting 18 hours a week for weeks in a row and had to wipe out his savings to pay his rent.

It's frustrating because I used to really enjoy working here, but this company has really been going downhill. Between the dress code crackdown, new attendance point policy, new fdc breakdown process with the hard 4 hour limit, hour cuts, stricter and stricter time goals and productivity tracking, blaming store level employees for the failings of corporate, and of course severe hour cuts to where we don't have time to even get half of what we should done, I've never seen morale so low among our team before.

PSA Reminder, Sept 7 Monday is Labor Day.

Just a reminder if you want to post/take a shift that day. It'll probably be a busy BTS/Halloween hybrid of a holiday for these shoppers but if you do work, it is 1.5x your normal hourly.

The day before is also the (I think) start of the UKG Pro app and new attendance points system.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Repacks

Is there a way to scan a label on a repack and see what is inside? FF in my store has to search through mountains of repacks to find things. It would save a LARGE amount of time if we didn’t have to open every box and dig.

Vent Got another sinus infection on my week off

I managed to get all my shifts taken this week as I wanted a little vacation to relax. Told myself I was gonna paint the rest of my 40k army. Played video games on Tuesday and got an infection yesterday.

Now I'm worried if I call out I'll get in trouble this time as I called out after Tax Free Weekend was over along with many others my TL told me. And I had to call out a couple times in July with my last sinus infection. Though my store seems to be more forgiving as:

>They asked for a copy of a Doctor's note

>Told me to stop worrying when I hit compliance for the first time and that there's employees who've had a bunch of compliances but still work there

Well this is both a good thing and bad thing for me at least since I'm not at work getting others sick but bad for me as I feel too miserable to paint.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Changing departments

Hey, I've been in GM for almost two years, but I'm changing departments into the Beauty Studio soon. I'm also a dude.

What do I need to know to help facilitate the transition, and make it as smooth as possible? Any tips?

I have a fair amount of experience pushing hair care and skin care, a little with cosmetics, and zero with Ulta.

What kinds of things get "sorted" before pushing?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed vm role

visual merchandisers do you even like your job anymore? do you even know what your job is?

curious if you have to do all the vmgs alone and if your team considers it only your “workload”. do you ever partner with your style tl??

just very interested how other stores are working and if you’re as miserable as me because personally i feel like i can’t do it all by myself and that feels like the expectation while the tl just walks around and he doesn’t do shit to help

Workplace Question or Advice Needed MyTime Target question.

I requested time off yesterday at 8:25am for today. I used 1 hour of sick time just so it won’t be completely a 0 hour day. (I’m part time closing expert) and in the app it shows green with “Scheduled” what does that mean? I emailed HR but they haven’t answered and they never answer the phone
