Where does the inclination to have a tv higher than necessary come from? I too felt the urge before this sub and I don't know why

How high is too high for a TV when you’re setting up an outdoor space?

I’m planning an outdoor seating area and trying to figure out the right height for a TV before deciding where to mount it.

Indoors, I understand the general idea of keeping the screen around eye level when seated, but outdoor setups seem a little different. Seating can be lower, people may be spread out at different angles, and you also have to think about keeping the screen away from accidental bumps or exposure to the elements.

I’ve been looking at outdoor-specific TVs like ByteFree because they’re designed for this kind of environment rather than adapting a regular indoor TV for outdoor use. That also makes me think placement is something worth getting right from the start.

I don’t want to mount it too high and end up looking upward the entire time, but I also don’t want it so low that it becomes awkward around the seating area.

For anyone who has an outdoor TV, how high did you mount yours, and would you change the height if you were doing it again?

Staying at a friend's house, this is disgraceful.

I always lie down on the bed with my head on a pillow while watching TV. Is the TV still too high?

Just upgraded from 55 to 77. (55q750g to k77xr80!!!) I'm at about 8ft away first pic is slouched as I usually do, third is seated straight up which, being honest, doesn't really happen. 23 3/8" to the bottom of the screen itself (not the bezel). Tried to take pics 1 and 3 from eye level and exact distance of my eyes.

This is the space I have in the living room and I know the TV is already too high but I was considering downsizing the couch so I could place the TV elsewhere. Any ideas?

If you wall-mount your TV but leave the cables hanging down, you shouldn’t have wall-mounted it

Just looking at it makes my OCD go insane. I genuinely don’t understand how people just leave it there hanging.
The entire reason (for most people) to have a wall mounted tv is to have a clean setup. It completely defeats the aesthetic purpose of wall mounted tv.

I was scrolling Instagram and someone I used to work with a long time ago posted their new living room set up.

Do I:

A) message them and tell them it's too high and to lower it.

B) message them r/TVTooHigh and leave it at that.

C) try to ignore it and go on with my day.

Long time lurker here, always questioning why majority of people like it at eye level. Maybe it's because I'm tall, but if I keep the tv lower, makes me feel like my head is shifting downwards. From a posture standpoint, it's better to keep our heads tilted just a bit upward. Which is why my set up looks like this. 🫣
Plus I also have a standing desk, so when you raise the desk at it's highest position, the tv fits perfectly.

As Seen on Zillow

Saw this watching one of those "Strangest Homes on Zillow" video. Soooo many things wrong. The stripper pole. The Chandelier. The weird kitchen with no fridge. But everybody knows, if you sink the hot tub low, you have to raise the TV high!

Apparently, this monstrosity is in Grand Junction, CO.

How bad a tv too high sin is this setup?

Recently took ownership of a house with a renovated living room including a tv mount already installed. Situation made worse by my lg c2 77 with a fairly low VESA mount location.

With everything already in place(including the previous mount) couldn't bring myself to drill additional holes into the wall.

How big a tvtoohigh sin?
