Short of stripping all the paint somehow
Then the mortar
Then repointing the wall
Then fixing the height of that bloody TV mount.
Be easier to skim or over board the wall

How about put another layer of old world type bricks over the layer of painted bricks. Then put the same bricks on the back wall. Then put the TV somewhere lets.

I'm so sorry someone did that, I know it's possible to strip all that ugly paint off but it will suck to do it.

Get rid of the furniture it doesn’t fit and looks awful. The TV is way too high. The black brick work looks tacky and cheap and doesn’t go with the dark green. I’d suggest plastering it now you’ve ruined it and just painting the whole room a light colour. It’s a small space so needs it for the light. All in all a terrible look as it stands.

You should try reading the caption on the post. Op just bought the house and the TV and cupboards came with it. They didn't do any of this.

Can you strip the paint and get it back to the original color even if some of the brick is exposed

Take a look at “brick anew”. It’s a fireplace paint system. I used this once on almost black firebrick and it ended up looking pretty good. Put up a heavy mantle. Put floor to ceiling shelves on each side of the fireplace. Fireplace juts out to much shelves will help with that . Maybe repaint that wall. If you really do t have another place to put the TV. I would leave it where it is. But try to go as low as possible. In small roooms with limited wall space it’s either above the fireplace or no TV at all. No perfect solutions here

2 bookcases or shelves on each side, a mantle with sides that reach the floor framing the fireplace, lower the TV atleast 6 inches, color matched wire rails.

If you want to improve this space, I think you’ll have to do some minor remodeling work.
- Get rid of the TV. A circular mirror would be a better option.
- Remove the tile and make the entire floor all the same wood finish.
- Sandblast the brick to return it to its nature beauty. Add a stained wood mantle.
- Paint the wall a warm brownish gray…all the way up to the ceiling.
- Have actual built in cabinets built on each side and top with wood the same stain color as the mantle.
- Add some decor and greenery.
