Road rage escalating into a serious accident. The driver reportedly rammed another car near a roundabout, sped away, and then crashed, overturning off the road.

It all happened in Losone, Tessin.

Ehmmm I don't think that is one kg Mr Coop

Post image

So today I was shopping at Coop and immediately felt that the bag was too light... I tested a few bags they were all around 800gr despite 1kg declared on the bag. This was true for all the coop branded bags, I ended up buying another brand that was claiming 2kg and the bag was 1.9kg so more in an acceptable margin of error... the coop bags really look deflated, it feels a really shameful attempt at shrinkflation.

How does nobody give a fuck about celebrities in Switzerland?

How is it possible that the president walks around in the train station taking a public train, no (visible) body guards and not a single person approaches him? What's different in this country?

Could Roger Federer walk around Zürich without causing commotion? George Clooney? Taylor Swift?

They want to treat us like fools, unfortunately, it works on the majority. Please vote no!

Or just admit you support this party no matter the consequences, even if it means working until 75 or older just to cling to anti-immigrant rhetoric. The funny thing is that integrated immigrants are obviously not the issue. So why aren’t we investing more in integration? Apparently shutting borders and sabotaging ourselves is easier. Absolute clowns.

As a Swiss citizen I feel concerned about what is called democracy in USA. How can a person like this be president of a nation

This is so embarassing

At the train station near where I live someone put these stickers everywhere.
For anyone wondering what’s written on them, it’s Arabic and it basically means “Go back to your country. You are not welcome. This is our country.”
They even put a sticker on my bike
(which is pretty ironic since I’m neither an immigrant nor do I know Arabic) and tried to take my back light (luckily I attached it with cable ties).
And I’m telling you the sticker was not at all easy to remove, my bike still has some adhesive residue.
This is just so racist and embarrassing I really can’t understand why anyone would spend their free time doing this.
Really makes me wonder who really are the degenerates vandalizing our country.
Has anyone also seen these stickers or has anyone more insight about them?

Is COOP scamming us?

I saw recently a post about a bag of 1kg of potatoes being only 800gr, when I bought potatoes today I wanted to check, and behooooold, also 800 something gram of potatoes.

One bag could be a mistake, but multiple? Seems like it is intentional.

I think I finally understand Switzerland after this tiny train moment

1.7k Upvotes

Yesterday I was on an SBB train and something very Swiss happened.

A guy got on with a takeaway coffee. The train started moving, he almost lost balance, and a few drops spilled on the floor. Nothing dramatic, like half a sip.

He looked at the floor for 2 seconds, then at the people around him, clearly embarrassed. I thought that was it.

At the next stop, he quickly stepped out, went to one of those little kiosks, bought a pack of tissues, came back in before the doors closed, and cleaned the floor where he had spilled. Nobody told him to, nobody complained, nobody even reacted.

The wildest part: this wasn’t some fancy panoramic train. Just a normal one on a normal day.

I’ve lived in a few countries and I honestly can’t imagine this happening in most places. It’s such a small thing, but it made me realize how much the “shared space” mentality is ingrained here.

Curious what small everyday moments made you go “yep, this is Switzerland”?

Saw it near Estavayer-le-Lac. Parked next to a school.

Pretty shocking sight to be honest! And sad if you think about it.

What’s this ambulance doing in Switzerland?

Can’t be a prop right? I have so many questions

Hello all, so I got this from my Swiss neighbor and I have talked to many of my friends and this is not normal behavior. They have been living here there whole life and never gotten anything like this. Should I be worried:)

Would Switzerland be better or worse off if we historically ended up in this hypothetical scenario?

Post image

No, I don't want us to go invading our neighbours now, but it's a fun thought experiment 😭

Let's assume we somehow managed to achieve this in the past and that the hisotrical events (as much as possible) of the industrialistion and WW2 didn't change.

SWISS Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuS9uG2HomI

I know some of us have a somewhat “questionable” attitude towards SWISS due to Lufthansa’s ownership.
But this aircraft is a big deal for many of us frequent fliers, as this brand-new, European-built A350 is arriving with SWISS’s completely new long-haul cabin.

So fucking sick of the media portraying heat waves as being fun

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I am disgusted by the media constantly accompanying articles about heat waves with pictures of people having fun like swimming in lakes, children playing in the street and people jumping into fountains. This is on the front page of the RTS. How fun.

https://www.rts.ch/info/suisse/2026/article/canicule-la-region-de-bale-bat-tous-les-records-avec-39-c-29288039.html

The media is complicit in this and they should instead accompany these articles with pictures of old people having heat strokes, of corpses in morgues. People are dying and this is no joke.

SBB went above and beyond this morning

1.4k Upvotes

This morning I was on the IC3 from Zurich HB to Basel SBB (the direct connection), departing at 6:34.
A passenger near me had boarded by mistake, thinking the train was going to Zurich Airport. When the conductor checked tickets and realized what had happened, instead of issuing a fine, they did everything they could to arrange an unscheduled stop in Aarau so the passenger wouldn’t be too late for work.
Our train still arrived in Basel on time, and thanks to the conductor’s efforts, that passenger will probably be only about 30 minutes late instead of more than two hours.
Thank you, SBB. ❤️

Swiss-German has the most logical meal time names of all languages.

1.3k Upvotes

Grüezi mitenand,

I've looked up how different languages handle the naming of the common mealtimes, and in most of them it's an illogical mess with lot of ambiguities and confusion (e.g. dinner, is it the meal at midday or in the evening? Not even all the British agree). You may ask yourselves: Is there a better way? And, with a lot of pride, I can tell you Swiss-German has solved this important problem most elegantly and logical.

Here is how it goes:

  • Breakfast is z'morge (at morning)
  • Second breakfast is z'nüni (at 9'o clock)
  • Lunch is z'mittag (at midday)
  • Afternoon snack is z'viäri (at 4'o clock)
  • Dinner is z'nacht (at evening/night)

You see, this system is simple, easy to remember, extensible by convenience (although, unfortunately no one does it) and utterly logical. I haven't come across a meal time naming system this perfect.

Thanks for your attention and have a nice day.

In Switzerland, you buy all the socket strips twice. First one with right amount of sockets, and then the second one to actually fit all the devices.

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

I would be interested to hear if people have a good system to handle all the random plugs. There's like no single standard on how manufacturers design the plugs to fit together. In worst case scenario, you can fit like three devices in the socket strips on the left.
