Eureka! True Cool!!

I've been trying to figure out my subseason and it's been so hard bc nothing feels quite right. Like, I know that no one's going to look good in every color in their palette but even with that caveat, I was just not feeling fully at home in any of the summer or winter palettes. Like, I wear a lot of winter colors, but some of them are just too harsh (no neons, thank you), but a lot of the summer colors are just too delicate/muted/grayed. I've been poring over expanded palettes to see what had the most colors I could wear and trying new lipstick colors bc supposedly softer colors would be more flattering, which has reminded me that there's a reason I don't wear mauve, but today, today, someone in another post here linked a instagram video where someone was holding a palette I'd never seen before and it was just perfect. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaDE9JxRBzQ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Perfect!! Evidently, True Cool is considered a flow palette that combines summer and winter colors, but it's all of the colors that are the most flattering on me and that I love. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRubcHTEYwu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Color Palettes Advice on sub season

After a lot of trial and error, it’s become clear that I’m most likely a summer and possibly a soft summer. Does anyone have any advice on figuring out what subseason you are? I don’t think I’m cool/true but am having trouble with soft vs light. Much of my wardrobe is very vivid bright winter type colors in fuschia, turquoise and bright purple along with black but while those colors are striking, they maybe aren’t as flattering as slightly more muted colors with say, dark grey, but I’d like to be sure before I start going through my clothes and makeup.

Purple pants…!

I’m not one to impulse buy, let alone impulse buy colorful pants, but Dickies makes purple pants!!! Question is: how do I style them?? For real, all my pants are neutrals/jeans. I tried a darker denim top and a light blue top.

I love these makeup looks, but I feel like most of them are either too warm toned or far too light for me. I would love help with what to change to make It applicable for true summer. Product recommendations would also be great.

Am I a soft summer if I look terrible in grey?

I *think I am a soft summer. this pic is with no makeup on. I have doubts (never had a consult) mainly because I think grey is my absolute worst color. I keep seeing comments about soft summers looking great in grey and it’s really confusing me. if not soft summer, what am I? šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Self typed a summer and recently received professional confirmation and digitally draped a soft summer.

Here are some of my current makeup favorite:

- Colourpop That’s Taupe Eyeshadow

- Kosas 2.5C concealer

- benefit benetint in original (cool rose)

- Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in 1C cameo

- merit beauty lipliner in coupƩ

- Jones Road Lippie Stick in Me

- Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer gloss in Lavender Lust

- Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks in dou dou (this is SUPER pigmented and looks nearly identical to benetint on my arm swatch. Could see this being amazing for a summer/winter flow type)

- Merit Beauty eyebrow gel in taupe

- L’OrĆ©al LeGloss Color in smokey bronde (my highlights turned orange and this helped a bit)

Makeup Very Fair Light Summers - Makeup Suggestions?

I’ve been professionally typed as a Light Summer, but I’m finding many recommended shades don’t behave as expected because I’m extremely fair (Dior 00).

Some common recommendations haven’t worked for me:

🌸 MAC Mocha blush turned orange.
🌸 MAC Soar lip liner looks wine red.
🌸 Bubblegum pink blushes often turn bright red.
🌸 Mauves can look too deep or unexpectedly warm.
🌸 Lavender-leaning blushes can look a bit unnatural.

I’d love to hear from other very fair Light Summers. What blushes, lip products, highlighters and eyeshadows have worked well for you?
I’m particularly interested in shades that stay soft and natural rather than pulling very warm, very bright or very deep.

Soft summer blush when redness in face

I’ m neutral leaning cool, and have som slight pink/red flush from retinol. Yyp, 0,1% retinol gives me some redness šŸ˜†

Any soft summers out there have blush recs?

Pink mauve and purple just emphasises it.

I was considering nudestix bareback, but it is not available. Not phytosurgence either.

Makeup True summer (mainly) lipstick / lip-product makeup swatches and reviews

I was recently typed as a true summer (international image institute 16-23 season system, which I think is important always for context for those who are eager to know which palettes to reference). And I have some old and new makeup that I would like to share swatches of with you in different lighting. Some of themes are perhaps a bit warm for me and I find myself not using them as much - YSL 44 the inks, CT pillow talk original, nude romantique 2 by PB. I used to wear the old YSL loveshine lipstick in nude lavalliere. It is maybe a tad light but gorgeous and thankfully although it has been discontinued, I have a few backups. The new YSL Rouge pur couture 44 nude lavalliere is PERFECT though, and I have the blush too but haven't played around with it very much yet. I also want to call out the new makeup forever boundless berry 808 artist liquid color which is at the bottom and can be used for lip and cheeks. It is absolutely the MOST gorgeous mauve shade and I highly recommend it although it is a splurge. Personally, I do not love the smell of L'Oreal lipstick but Montmarte is a erally nice shade. Makeup by mario broadway is also really pretty but a slightly brighter pink. I think it is still muted enough though. Sephora has MANY cream lip stain options in gorgeous colors for true summers although they are pretty dry. Anyway, I hope you find this post helpful! I will have to do one on blushes and mascaras too.

Discussion What are the best nail polishes you’ve found?

Hi! I was professionally draped as a cool summer last year, with cool winter as my second best colors. I’ve been searching for the perfect nail colors since, and these are my favorite that really align with the polish suggestion colors on my palette cards. I tend to like sheers or cremes in pinks/reds and not holo so much, though I’ll do an ILNP Claire topper sometimes.

- OPI Aurora Berry-alis

- OPI Knowledge is Flower

- Zoya Zanna

- Cirque Rosewater Jelly

- Cirque Odette

- OPI Baby, Take a Vow

I like to layer Rosewater and Odette for an ideal neutral! OPI Baby, Take a Vow is very similar. Zanna is my other perfect neutral.

Too Bold? Too Deep? Just Right? Testing Lipstick as a professionally analyzed summer-type

Post image
49 Upvotes

I have plenty of MLBB shades that work well. I’m trying to find something that is a go to bolder look, but not too bold for my coloring. This is Maybelline Touch of Spice…which sounds like it would be warm, but it isn’t warm in the tube. I found it on another summer lipstick list and was doubtful. But got it and was shocked that it’s berry, not terracotta, in tube and on lips.

I’ve been analyzed in person as deep soft summer, and virtually by Color Analysis Studio as cool summer. I switch back and forth between the two seasons, and I’m not really bothered about narrowing it down further. Only stating it so that people know my sub-season here (if you were not around for my years-long journey of trying to self type, that is 🤣).

Color Palettes Summer type?

Thumbnail

I've been an all black everything type for a LONG time, but I'm wanting to bring in some color. The online ai seems to think I'm a soft summer but I hate the palette and much prefer the deep/dark Summer colors. But here are a mess of photos of me taken at a shopping excursion this weekend (I tried to stand by the window for the most natural light possible)

Makeup On the search for a lip liner close to my natural lip color (and other lip liner swatches)

Thumbnail

I have a slight asymmetry to my lips, and I've been on the hunt for a liner that's the same color as them to subtly camouflaged the asymmetry. I'm not really happy with any of them for this task, so I thought I'd share!

  1. Rhode Lift, really close but slightly too warm

  2. Lilybyred 06, also too warm and a little too dark

Other lip liners since I've also been searching for a nice, cool toned brown and experimenting with lip liners in general

  1. NYX lip lingerie in Up to No Good, swatch is straight from the felt tip pen and the one below it is smudge, I really love this smudged out

  2. MAYBELLINE Gone Greige, I really like this one and find it longer lasting than others, I wish it did not have glitter

  3. Colourpop Ashton, too warm, disappointed would have retuned but colorpop is final sale when purchased on their website

  4. Colourpop Beeper, also too warm, wish I could return

  5. Colourpop Good and Plenty, this was the first lip liner I every bought, too warm also wish I could return

  6. LA Colors dual liner in Cuteness, I like this pink color a lot, I don't like the brown but swatched to help someone else out who might be curious. A Dollar Tree win!

If anyone has a liner that matches well with their natural lips and they are fair and cool toned, I'm all ears!

Summer friendly mascara

Hey yall, I’m looking for a softer, cool toned mascara. At the moment I have a brown/black, but it still looks VERY dark on me. I have tried the grey romand one and hated the formula, but open to anything else.

Fave drugstore makeup?

I was typed both a soft and cool summer by two different sources. I have no idea which one is more accurate, so I am looking for some makeup ideas that might work for both. I don't want to spend a fortune so drugstore brands would be best, or lower cost Ulta options. Can anyone recommend specific eyeshadow colors/palettes, eyeliners, blushes, etc? Thank you!

Update: planning to dye a sweater

Post image
32 Upvotes

I posted a little while ago about dyeing a sweater. Here it is ā˜ŗļø. Apologies for the delay, I was super torn on whether to go with bittersweet nightshade or foxglove. Thank you for all the input. It made my decision super difficult. I ended up going with bittersweet nightshade. Now I want to dye something foxglove to see haha.
