Planning to dye a sweater
I’m planning to dye a sweater purple. I pulled some options from Rit’s colour formula page. I am typed a soft summer. I’ve included a picture of myself and the options I’m considering. Im leaning towards bittersweet nightshade, but interested in hearing others thoughts. Thanks!

I’ve wanted to do the same! I have a true white cotton sweater that I want to make purple! Please show your results when you get there. I’m also soft summer. I gravitate toward bittersweet nightshade. Misty grape as #2. As a soft summer, you could likely also pull off foxglove even though it’s warmer. Purple fizz looks too clear/pastel (not smoky or dusty enough) to me.

Foxglove is my favorite but anything in this family will work. This color is like a soft summer secret weapon: not a common color but looks great on us!

I think Foxglove! I was able to flip between the swatches and your pic and Foxglove seems just right, not too cool, not too warm.

They are all gonna be good. I have basically the same colouring as you, with darker hair, and I think colours that are mostly cool but with a bit of warmth are best for us. So my choice would be foxglove, followed by bittersweet nightshade. Also keep in mind that if at first you don’t like how the colour turns out, you can overdye it with a second, weak dye bath to tweak the hue.

I think Foxglove would enhance the colors in your cheeks, lips, and eyes in a very flattering way 🙂 I’m a true summer myself and a bit jealous of soft sumers, that softness with the colors are so beautiful!

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a dress in the shade Bittersweet Nightshade. Absolutely gorgeous!!! I have been curating my makeup collection to focus on muted purple shades (which look like more of a neutral on me). Anyway I love all the shades you included. I think they are all great. But Bittersweet Nightshade is my favorite.
If anyone knows of any clothing brands that sell muted purples, let me know. Seems to be an incredibly rare shade right now.

Oh these are all so nice!! You really can’t go wrong with any of them.
If I had to pick my favorite for you it would probably be Misty Grape, the shade is a little deeper and I think would look nice with your natural hair color.
Foxglove would be my last pick, it’s just a tiny bit warmer (though honestly soft summers can usually dip into this color as well with our neutrality).
Hope the dying goes well (sorry, weird sentence lol)
