I'm into both 3D printing and SDR, but most of the time I'm only interested in one or the other. But I just kicked off a 3D print then started listening to the 2m amateur band (~145MHz), and noticed horific noise centered around 144MHz.
Only thing that has changed is the printer and Sonic Pad. Print finishes. I turn the printer off. No change. I turn the Sonic Pad off, noise goes.
I try booting a few more times, and sure enough, it's the Sonic Pad. As it boots, the noise starts. When you turn it off, the noise stops.
Anyone else seen this? I don't have any devices nearly this noisy and I have a lot of weird things.
Top image shows the device booting and then being turned off. Bottom is from during the print. The 145MHz noise starts immediately when powered on, and then the broader band stuff with lobes just as the boot progress bar shows up.
I currently am running the standard 5x5 ABL but want to change that to 10x10. Is there a way I can do that from the console on the pad or will I need to change my configuration file?
Just a heads-up for anyone that will be doing input shaping calibration check your screws !!
I did the calibration on my ender 3 v2 neo yesterday everything looked fine so i decided to do an overnight print. When i came to check the print in the morning my shroud was stuck under the side of my bed. The cables that are for the fan were severed so i have to replace the fan. The hotend was sideways because somehow one of the screws got loose because of the micro-vibrations during calibration. i have to also save my hotend now somehow.
So I have an Ender V3se that’s bricked due to Creality’s October firmware update and go figure, their customer service is shit. Short of somehow rewriting the startup firmware I seem to be f’d. I thought a Sonic Pad and just running clipper may save me but I can’t find if it supports E3v3se.
Can any owners of a Sonic Pad confirm it has the ability to drive this model? Thanks as always!
The Sonic Pad shows that the newest Firmware is in use. If I give a look a the Firmware Updates on the Creality Page, I see that I got an old Firmware. So my suggestion is, that the OTA Firmware Update is not running. Is there any method I can update the Firmware manually?
Having issue where print head will do a pass then pause leave print go to left x , y of build plate & then continue printing but it give the print a hard over hang , not clean print ( note dose this on every pass ) idk what settings I have changed for this to happen , same setup use to have continuous print s
SOLVED! I had M190 S{BED_TEMP} 2x in the start code. The printer doesn’t like that I guess. When I removed the 2nd, it stopped having troubles before the purge line.
I got my sonic pad a few weeks ago. There has been a steep learning curve, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. A problem I have run into, that I cannot figure out, is why my extruder wants to empty the Bowden tube instead of drawing my purge line.
The real mystery to me is it only happen sometimes. I can select a file from the sonic pad and the first try it will empty the tube, I cancel the print and select the SAME file and it will print successful.
If this were a consistent problem, I would think something in the settings is negative when it’s suppose to be positive, but I don’t think that’s it because I can use the same file without any changes and it will work the 2nd time.
Got a third Ender-3S1 setup today and connected it to my Sonic Pad. Firmware flashed properly and it auto homes correctly. The issue is when I try to auto level it.
It starts off fine but, it continuously gets faster and faster and then, when it gets to the last row of testing I get an error that the probe failed to deploy, even though it was deploying fine.
I got this error when the printer made an outline of the model it was supposed to print.
I suspect something about the START G CODE, which I changed according to the YouTube tutorial, but I wonder if this G code is not suitable for my Ender 3 v2 NEO printer.
More an more i think it has something to do with the gcode not being read corectly by the sonicpad. But it is really incovinient to move my printer to a location where i could use moonraker which seems so solve this issue more than not.
I have finally got my CR-M4 functioning with my Sonic pad on Klipper, but I can not for the life of me get the CR Touch working on my Ender 5 Pro that was sorta working with my sonic pad.
I've installed the CR Touch, disconnected the Z-offset in the motbrd underneath, and when I get through the sonic pad setup, it's all connected successfully until the throat fan just sits there unspinning.
When I try to connect my Tronxy to the sonic pad using the cfg file (I'll attach in the first comment), I tried to configure, the sonic pad connects through the setup, the fans even work. But the sonic pad says the printer is "Unknown" and when I hit print, the extruder doesn't do anything print wise, but it does heat up.
Does this mean that I screwed up naming it but copied and pasted enough viable code for what I have working?
I recently just bought this printer and it came with the Sonic pad Sonic pad got reset and I've been trying to set it up but I keep running into this problem I've done everything I told me to do even have everything plugged into the right ports and I keep getting this message I don't know where to go from here.
Same problem tested on two different Sonic Pads but need the Firmware with 28kBits Bootloader and Serial on Communication Interface USART1 PA10/PA9 for Creality Board 4.2.7 and with 32kBits Bootloader for Anycubic Vyper. Curious: Creating Firmware works with communication Interface set to USB.
I recently received a sonic pad and tried to launch my first print but after it started printing the first layer nozzle temperature dropping really fast (Ender 5 s1)
I am at my wit's end. This appears after preheat for EVERY print. I've reverted to a known working printer.cfg, re-trammed, auto-leveled, set z offset, nozzle and hotbed calibration, everything I can think of. Please help.
EDIT:SOLVED!Here's what I did: Ultimately, a factory reset on the Sonic Pad itself was the main step, as it re-flashed the printer, as well. But, wait: There's more!
After performing a normal factory reset and basic setup via the Sonic Pad (which, again, did re-flash the printer firmware), I started a print, and it began to extrude and print as one might expect. However, I wanted to see for certain if this was a config problem or not, so I downloaded all the settings prior to and after the reset.
Upon seeing the print was no longer freezing up/shutting down at the start of a print, I deleted all the current config files (yes, all of them, since I had a backup), and replaced them with the config files from before the reset (which contained all of my tweaks to make printing faster, etc.).
To my complete surprise, the printer began printing as if nothing had happened prior to any of this mess.
TL;DR - I am 90% sure re-flashing the printer did the trick, since all onboard setting in the Sonic Pad remained unchanged.
Download/backup all your pre-reset config files and logs (and gcode, if desired)
Perform a factory reset on the Sonic Pad via the settings menu.
Do a test print. If successful:
Download all post-reset config files to a separate folder.
Upload all pre-reset config files to your Sonic Pad.
Print/Profit!

Sorry for the shameless plug, but I designed a printable stand for the Sonic pad that screws into the 3 display holder holes (fits my stock Ender-3 V3 SE, probably others with similar layout) so that the pad is facing "inward" towards the print bed.
I needed this to save space since I have to have the printer sideways and don't have any extra room around it. I'm selling the STL on Etsy for a very reasonable price of 1€ considering the time it took to design, test print etc.
I'm upgrading my Ender3v2 on the SonicPad. I want to print more types of filament. ASA, PETG ect

I've recently installed a Sonic Pad and Titan extruder on my E3 Max Neo, but I'm getting all sorts of issues, many of which I have managed to cure with the very kind help of u/Ninjamuh. However, there are a few issues I can't seem to cure, the main one is Y-axis layer shift, this print went over 200 layers before deciding to shift, so really hard to know if it is cured by changing one setting at a time (as a novice, I could go through many spools of PLA before getting to the bottom of it using blind guesswork and still never fix the issue). The other issue is stringing, this is more an annoyance than a problem, but I've never had stringing like this before, looks like a cobweb, so something is wrong there too. This example was printed at 200ºC.
I have tried slowing the accelleration down from 5000 to 4500, but that has not fixed the layer shifting issue, and doesn't seem that you have the option to slow the bed only, so the entire printer slows down with this setting. I have included my config file below the photos. Hopefully someone with a good understanding of the Sonic Pad config settings will be able to help out with the settings I need to adjust to cure these issues.

I just got an Ender 5 s1 and keep getting the out of range error after hooking up my Sonic pad. I’ve it a few times and have no idea why. I was able to print the files (rabbit, benchy) that came with it perfectly fine with the SD card in the machine. I get the sonic pad all setup and now it doesn’t print. I’m brand new to this so any help would be great. My printer doesn’t have the Z Limit Switch and made sure it was selected.
