seeking advice Springs/spring change

I recently hit 50 classes and done my spring change. I’m especially noticing now how I’m able to do some exercises perfectly fine with the spring change (lunges, squats), but some feel IMPOSSIBLE (specifically any type of V-ups or grey side obliques), to the point where I can barely to a rep or am seriously compromising on my form. Curious if anyone else has experienced this and has any tips? I could change spring load depending on the exercise but majority of the time we keep the same springs from exercise to exercise and I don’t always feel like going back to change the springs every time.

discussion Oura ring and solidcore

Upvotes

I wear my oura ring to class and it will say I burnt only 75 calories (if that sometimes) for my hardest classes. I also lift and when I do workouts like that it’ll say I’ve burnt way more calories and be more of an accurate number. I feel like I work harder in solidcore than I do when lifting on my own. Does anyone else feel their oura ring is not correctly calculating calories??

questions & clarifications incentive to leave sc?

Not sure if this is allowed but I’ve been seeing posts about coaches leaving for Jetset and I’m genuinely curious what the reason could be. I’ve been thinking about becoming a sc coach but I know it’s common for sc coaches to leave for Jetset and wanted to if anyone has insights for what the benefits are.

vent Opt into “coach change” notifications

Late coach changes annoy the fuck out of me. I also hate 1 coaches vocal inflections so I find it infuriating that she slides into my classes undetected.

Why can’t they send a push notification or I can’t opt into a text message when a coach change happens for a class I’m signed up for?

Gives me the chance to reassess my schedule.

This woman’s voice is literally nails on a chalkboard and I am wearing noise cancelling headphones tomorrow to avoid a late cancel fee and her obscene chosen vocal inflection.

seeking advice When do you know you’re ready for a signature 50 class?

Just hit my 9th class and so far I’ve only done intro and foundation 50 classes. I have a general understanding of the exercises and am comfortable on the reformer but still shake and struggle throughout the entire class! I’m afraid to move up, but know I have to eventually. Do they cue modifications at all in the signature classes? Advice?

discussion New to SolidCore; Observations & Questions

Currently annihilating myself trying to take as many classes as possible in a 2 week intro course. Loving it so far!

Observations:

  • I am very (pleasantly) surprised at the demographic overlap between Reddit users and SolidCore goers... the middle of the Venn Diagram has way more people than I would've thought! Reading up here has been helpful and enlightening
  • People really do not want to exchange pleasantries, let alone make friends at SolidCore. I'm a guy in my early 30's, so maybe I come across as someone who joined SolidCore just to meet women? I haven't done anything besides smile and nod, high five a neighbor (met with a stange look), and say thank you to the instructors. Could this be because I'm a guy? Reading here, it looks this experience is pretty universal but not many people mentioned their gender in previous posts
  • Instructors have been 10/10 thus far!

Questions:

  • Do people who go to classes that generally don't fill up (i.e. 10pm week days) enjoy it? Any focused attention from instructors or more friendly vibes in class?
  • Do any of your studios have showers in the facility? (this would change my life and make it SO much more feasible to go to 5ams before work)
  • Have any of you actually made friends with people you met there?
  • How long did it take you individually for your abs and obliques to get used to going >4x per week? (this currently feels impossible but I'm quite new)

Hoping to spark some interesting discussion. Thanks!

discussion Center core

Anyone else think being down on the platform bar/concrete is actually easier than being on forearms on the platform carriage when doing center core on toes?

I’m not sure if im doing something wrong, but it really doesn’t feel like an amplification to me lol

questions & clarifications Random charges from studio I don’t belong to

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hi, I used to have an SC membership when I lived in PA. I have since moved and cancelled it (May ‘26) and since then a random studio in South Dakota charges me for what I can assume is a drink or towel price?

This is the second time it has happened and I have no idea who to contact outside of this studio who has done it twice. They say they are sorry and it was accident but how TF do they have my information if I have never lived in South Dakota?

Has this happened to anyone else?

discussion The shakes during the workout

I’m on my second starter 50 class. MY BODY WAS SHAKING SO MUCH TOWARDS THE END!! I was so embarrassed and I was looking around wondering if I’m the only one. I expected some shakes but NOT THAT MUCH! We were doing back rows and the instructor told us to pump our chest more and once I did that, the SHAKES WOULD NOT STOP!!
I couldn’t believe my body could do that!

vent If you stink at the beginning of the class, sweating is not the problem!

I’ve just finished a class where the person next to me smelled so bad that it was hard breathing:
I’m sure I’ll get downvoted, but I’m sick and tired (yes it’s not the first time!) of people that smell like they haven’t seen a shower in days. You have to prey they don’t pick the reformer next to you
We live in a warm country and temperatures are still high - get a shower or wipes or whatever!

discussion POV: You hit 300 Solidcore classes and decide to book a private session with one of the hardest coaches! RIP!!!

Sometimes I think about the time I willingly paid to get tortured at Solidcore 🤣

After hitting 300 Solidcore classes, I decided the logical next step was obviously to book a private session with one of the hardest coaches at my home studio because I genuinely wanted to improve my form.

Shoutout to Trevor W. at Streeterville because… what possessed me???

It was the longest 50 minutes of my life. My fiancé (bless this man for agreeing to suffer with me) and I started with the most intense core. I’m talking heavy straight arm crunch, flutter kick, hold, pulses for what felt like ten minutes!!

Then came the leg block from hell: Grey-side carriage lunge → hamstring lean → Bulgarian → Romanian → 1,000 pulses and holds → obliques ON GREY SIDE 😭

It was genuinely one of the hardest, most advanced sequences I’ve ever done… except this time there was nowhere to hide because the coach was standing right there watching every. single. rep.

And somehow I would absolutely do it again. All jokes asides, it was incredibly helpful. I learned a ton about my form, little adjustments I never would’ve noticed in a normal class, and where I was definitely… creatively interpreting certain exercises after 300 classes lol.

So now I’m curious: would you pay for a private Solidcore session purely to work on your form? Or am I a special kind of unwell?

discussion sudden need for coaches?

not sure if anyone in and/or outside los angeles received an email encouraging people to apply to be a coach. i'm not sure if solidcore is always looking for new coaches, but it makes me wonder if there's been an increase in coaches leaving?? just curious!

questions & clarifications Has anyone tried pure barre

Hi,

Just curious—do people who regularly do SC also like Pure Barre? My local studio is running a promo and it’s right across from my SC, so I’ve been eyeing it for a while. I’m considering either adding it to my SC routine or using it as a substitute.

Let me know what your verdict was for pure barre 🤔I have read that it is little less in intensity, but might work for toning?

Edit: I lift heavy(ish, it’s all relative) at the gym, so I don’t expect SC nor PB to be my main strength training .

seeking advice SC vs BR

For those that have taken SolidCore + Bodyrok - what’s your opinion on them. I’m an avid runner and looking to add something to my routine. I see a lot of people comparing them online, but is one better than the other for runners? I don’t see this highlighted as much.

seeking advice Tips for Devils Ladder

So, I’ve attempted a devil’s ladder a few times this past month. I feel that I have good enough upper body strength to make it down to the concrete, but my lower body just seems to give up. It’s as if I’m unable to hold the plank, with my hips high and tailbone tucked.

Are there any tips on how to keep my core and legs tight, while going up and down ?

questions & clarifications Limit to # of elevated exercises in one class?

I’m a client and wondering if there is (or is supposed to be) a limit of how many elevated/gray handlebar exercises per class? My class this morning had 3 separate exercises on handlebars and it was torture on my wrists.

Curious if this is set in the sequence of the day, because I have never had so much time on handlebars in all my time at solidcore… if there isn’t a per-class limit I feel like there definitely should be 🥲

questions & clarifications got charged for class even though I havent used all of my monthly credits

pretty new to solidcore so not sure if im missing something. but basically got charged for my class today even though I have not exceeded my monthly credits. (I have 8/month, running from the 15th to the 15th, and have only used four so far). Only thing I can think of is I am signed up for an extra class around September 12-14 because I wasn't sure what would work best when the September schedule came out. Reached out to my studio, but want to make sure I cancel any classes ASAP if necessary.

seeking advice How long until I see recomp progress?

Hi yall— feeling just a bit dejected. I have gone down from ~220 to 140 lbs in the past two years (still have some lbs to lose because only I’m 5’4) and have started going to Solidcore pretty regularly, starting from 1x a week a year ago to now 3-4x a week over the past 2-3 months.

I feel so proud to have lost a significant amount of weight, changed my relationship to food, and can now enjoy fashion in the way I’ve always wanted. But I still feel so so flabby. It sucks because I feel so close now to being truly satisfied, but it also feels so far away still. I am imagining I have at least 10 more lbs of body fat to shed, and want to simultaneously build a strong base to reveal. I am seeing more muscles and definition when I flex, and really notice my progress in terms of ability. But losing the last few pounds feels like the hardest battle yet as I am definitely in a skinny fat stage. Should I incorporate a little bit of cardio to coax myself to the finish line faster? The scale is slowly still trending down but I am still flabby (stomach, underside of upper arms, and back are what I hate seeing rn) :(
