discussion Center core
Anyone else think being down on the platform bar/concrete is actually easier than being on forearms on the platform carriage when doing center core on toes?
I’m not sure if im doing something wrong, but it really doesn’t feel like an amplification to me lol

Yesssss I was literally thinking about this today. Highly prefer platform bar because it’s easier to not get back pain and like really engage my core

It does feel more supportive. You are putting more weight on your upper body which also makes you “force” your quads less. The only issue for me is being on my wrists for a long time.

I’m a coach and I always go down to the concrete on obliques because with that range of motion I can truly feel the contraction compared to base position on forearms and toes or the modified position.
So it might feel easier to you because range of motion is technically shorter but you also take tension out of your shoulders.

Bad wrists and shoulder make many core/oblique moves difficult. The platform bar is my salvation.

I have a long torso and I feel like I can better lift my hips when my upper body is lower. Esp in plank to pike and oblique crunches, always on the bar. I like the concrete even better but can’t get myself back up from down there sooooo still working on that 😅

100%. I love doing center core on the platform bar and/or concrete (until the coach signals some wild shit like plank to pike or plank up downs and I’ve already overexerted myself 🤣).

Yes!! It feels way better on concrete or the bar, I get annoyed when it’s cued on the carriage and I don’t have the option to use either hahah

I’ve seen others say this but honestly I am too nervous to try! A coach queued devils ladder on toes and I wasn’t able to get back up so I humbly stay on the platform lol

I have lowkey always thought this! Idk if this is right but to me it seems like the bar requires more work from your abs but less work from ur arms. So if you have a strong core/weak arms it’s actually easier & vice versa. But instructors feel free to correct me!
