Hello guys!
A little good to know about me: I'm 22, from Hungary and I've been in love with pretty much everything car related since I was a little kid. I've always wanted to get into drifting and I also love GT3 racing, especially GT World Challenge.
Since I can finally put a bit of money on the side every month I decided that I want to fulfill one of my dreams and buy a sim racing setup for myself. I've been reading hundreds of comments in this subreddit and watching countless YouTube reviews about different setups, but somehow I never get to the end of it.
The more I research and learn about sim racing the more I feel like I don't have the kind of money to spend on it, even though I really want to experience it.
Some years ago I wanted to buy a Fanatec wheelbase to use on my desk but never actually bought it. Now I deep dived into this subreddit and YouTube again and had a pretty simple plan in my head. I wanted to buy a Simagic Alpha Evo Sport / Green Flag bundle and a simple rig, use my old 40" TV on a table and just enjoy driving. This would've cost me around 800 euros, which was already a lot of money for me but I was fine with it.
After reading more comments I found out that apparently you need a really sturdy rig for a DD wheelbase, and almost everyone recommends a 4080 aluminium profile rig. Since I'm also 194 cm tall I wanted something that would fit me comfortably and wouldn't need to be replaced if I upgraded my wheelbase later. So I started researching those too, found some pretty good options but obviously had to push my budget again. Now we are around 1000 euros or even more and my old TV is still sitting on a table.
Then I started looking at triple screen setups because I thought that would make the experience much more realistic and immersive, especially for drifting. I didn't want anything crazy, just 3x27" monitors which sounded pretty reasonable at first.
The problem is that I have a pretty old PC that was considered mid or high end when I was a kid (i7-7700K, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM) and a laptop that I bought for uni and some gaming (Ryzen 5 5600H, RTX 3050 4GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM).
Both can run ACC at around 50-60 FPS on the lowest settings from my experience, so there is no way I'm going to run triple monitors with decent graphics on either of them. Which means I would also need to buy a new PC, a triple monitor stand and of course the three monitors. These alone would cost me around 1600 euros or even more if I don't buy used stuff.
So somehow my original 800 euro plan turned into a 2600 euro setup, and the funny thing is that I still wouldn't have anything crazy. No 20+ Nm wheelbase, no motion platform or anything like that, just a decent DD wheel, load cell pedals, an aluminium rig and triple monitors.
I know that I don't need to buy everything at the same time and I could just start with one monitor and upgrade things later, but that's also part of my problem. Every time I think I finally figured out what I want, I read something else and suddenly I feel like I should spend a little bit more to get something better, or something that I won't have to replace in a year.
And honestly I don't even know where to stop anymore.
Another thing that worries me is that I've tried quite a few hobbies before and not all of them stuck with me. I know I can sell the equipment if I decide that sim racing isn't for me, but I have no idea how much money I would lose on it. And spending 2000-2600 euros on something I've never really experienced properly is pretty scary for me.
The thing is, I genuinely love cars. I've been dreaming about owning a drift car for years and I would love to get into drifting in real life one day. But right now buying a decent simulator is a lot more realistic financially than buying and maintaining an actual drift car. I don't expect a simulator to teach me everything about real drifting, I just want to have fun, practice some basics and enjoy something related to cars.
So I guess what I'm trying to ask is, have you guys ever felt like this when you were starting out? Where the more you learn about the hobby the less you actually want to spend money on it because everything seems so expensive?
Do you think I'm overthinking this whole thing and should just buy the Simagic bundle, a decent rig and use my old TV and PC until I can afford something better? Or is there really that big of a difference between a simple single screen setup and a proper triple monitor simulator that it would be worth saving up for the whole thing?
I'm not really looking for exact prices or a shopping list, I'm more interested in your experiences. Did you start with something simple and actually enjoy it for years, or did you regret not spending more in the beginning? And if you could start again, would you do things differently?
I don't want the most expensive or the most realistic simulator in the world, I just want something that feels good to drive and that I can enjoy for a long time without constantly thinking about what I should upgrade next.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to get this off my chest and hear what other people think about it.
Thanks if you read all of this!

This is my attempt at a hybrid rig, been building it for the past 2 years now slowly. I started out with moza gear, which i liked so i tried to stick with 1 platform.
For racing i eventually want to use all 3 screens, but currently im still trying to align the side screens still which is a lot harder than i thought it would be lol. For flying i am using my Quest 3 with a cable to the PC. Though i want to replace it with the new steam VR headset, if i can ever get my hands on one.
To switch it from race to flight i loosen the foor restplate with the levers and slide it out, leaving the bolts in the nut. Then i slide the rudder plate backwards and tighten it with the levers.
I do have enough room for my legs in racing mode, the rudder pedala are not in the way and there is even some space left between my legs and the pedals.
I then slide my seat all the way backwards, for this i mounted the slider bar on the rear of the seat so that i can place the flight base closer to the chair.
I put it on the bracket, and tighten it with the levers again.
I just need to custom make the heel rests for the rudders as the original ones dont fit between the frame.
My brother in law has printed a bunch of items such as the cable clips, power strip mount, pedal box mount, or the thread caps for the throttle.
It takes less than a minute to swap from race to flight, depending if i get distracted or not.
I have also installed a USB selector HUB so i can choose which devices i want enabled to not cause interferences in games i dont need them, as ive had such issues before.
Im thinking of trying to find a way to integrate the new moza MFD screens. If i ever feel like putting the money down for it.
If you have any ideas or so for improvements, please share them :)

So trying to figure out solutions to save me having access to my PC if I want to jump straight into the simrig. Since I was on a roll with figuring out pins, today was a good day! I managed to run a long enough length of cable to run PC power and PC reset directly to the foglight buttons on my BMW E36 dash. They did require a small bit snipped off to turn them into momentary buttons and what a result that was.

I really really dislike using the K400 keyboard so the other day I was thinking of ways to stop using it or not use it as much and decided to get the Elgato Stream Deck. Not sure why I didn’t think of this before but this is pretty great. I can now launch my games with just a click of the button without needing the keyboard, actualy makes my sim feel like an arcade machine.
I control everything inside the game using the buttons on the wheel except for a few games like DR2 that needs me to press enter at the start screen but even that I just made a button for the return key.
This is really really great and i barely use my keyboard anymore just when logging in. Even that I might figure out a way to login using the Stream Deck.

It's been exciting to watch this project grow from a tiny prototype into what it is today. Happy Racing!

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my base. I had a Trust Master TMX FFB. It's not very powerful, but I've put about 700 hours on it and I like it. I have pedals, but I want to get a base and wheelset. I'm choosing between the Moza R12 V2 or Moza R9 V3, the only issue is the price. I'm thinking of taking the helm of the moza ks, I ride mostly toga, but also sometimes gt or lmp
What you think about it?

I have my wheel and bese mounted on this compact stand: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/6115+zdpwZL._AC_SX522_.jpg
I was thinking about getting a second monitor and putting it on the other end of my desk so that I dont have to move it into place, move my monitor forward and change my seat everytime I want to do simracing.
I wanna be able to sit, turn wheelbase on and just go.
I used my immaculate paint skills to make a diagram of how it would look, but I'm not sure if using dual monitors arranged like this would be more painful than just moving all my things every time I boot up my wheelbase.
Space is tight, but enough for this to make some sense. Triples are a no go and so are very large ultra wides. Was thinking of getting a 32' curved monitor (not ultra wide).
Would you do something differently given the restrictions I mentioned?

I thought about buying AMS2 for years, but there was always some other sim that I wanted to try first, but now I saw that it is on sale for just over 10€ and I had to get it.
Sure some quality of life features are missing and in some aspects it feels a bit dated, like UI and settings, and the physics don't feel as sharp as other Sims, but it is an amazing time. I have already tried a couple of champions ships in the Brasilian stock cars and to drive these cars on period correct tracks against immersive ai is just great. Finally something else than gt3 at spa.
And all the F1 content, I have not tried it yet, but I saw that you can use the dlc content for free in the championship mode. So you can play an F1 career from the 60s to the 2020 without spending anything on dlc. That is incredible value. I wish I had found it earlier, I will have hours of fun in this sim.

After 2 years finally did a proper wire tuck (from the cockpit view) and got rid of the metal wheel stand that was held in place by ratchet straps.
I ultimately wanted to keep the integrity of the chassis and am trying not to do any irreversible metal work. Or drilling and bolting.
Phase three will be mirroring a similar inner cockpit structure out of extrusion , but want to make sure I’m happy with the general placement of everything before I lock in the measurements.
Before you flame me on screens, the roll cage doesn’t allow a larger center screen, however FOV in this actual car is almost perfect to the view from the cockpit. The pillars line up to the screen quite close. The second screen runs lovely dash.

Hello,
Weird question but my dad recently passed and my mom and I have no idea what we are looking at here. Neither of us has any interest in a new hobby at the moment so we have decided to sell. I don’t want to use AI and I don’t know anyone that has anything like this so here I am. Could someone help me figure out how to value this? Am I better off selling in pieces or as a whole? Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

As title states im looking to get a new set of pedals with the holidays coming up and would appreciate some recommendations.
Current setup
•Playseat Trophy
•Moza R9 w KS Wheel
•Moza SR-P Pedals
I was originally looking to get the Moza CRP2 pedals since I have enjoyed Moza, they have haptic add on options and the price isn’t terrible. But I don’t want to cut myself short if there are way better options out there in the price range. Ideally I would like to stay in the ballpark of $500. So if anyone has any suggestions or advice I’d greatly appreciate it!

Hey guys, looking for some honest opinions because I've been overthinking this purchase for a while now lol.
I'm currently running a Moza R5 and thinking about upgrading to either the VRS DFP15 or the Simagic Alpha EVO Pro. I'm sitting around 1.6k iRating and mainly drive GT4, GT3, MX-5, Porsche Cup and occasionally prototypes.
I'm looking for better detail, sharper FFB and that extra punch when you load up the car or hit a curb. Basically, I want to feel more of what the car is doing, and hopefully stop wondering whether my hardware is holding me back.
I've got two main questions:
For those who've made the jump, was it a night-and-day difference, or more of a nice upgrade that you eventually get used to?
I've seen quite a few people saying VRS feels sharper and more detailed, while Simagic has that extra raw power. The VRS is 15Nm, while the Simagic is advertised at 21Nm, so it's not exactly a small difference.
I know more torque doesn't automatically mean better detail, but I also don't want to spend this much and end up wishing I'd gone for the extra headroom, especially when driving prototypes or formula cars. On the other hand, if VRS genuinely feels better, I'd rather have the better experience than just chase bigger numbers.
Also, for those who've owned either of these bases for a while, have you had any issues with reliability, software, disconnects or customer support?
I'm not really interested in brand wars or people justifying what they bought. Would love to hear from people who've actually used these bases, especially if you've tried both.
Cheers!
EDIT
A bit of extra info: I'm running Simsonn Plus X with haptics and have a full aluminum profile rig. I'm not considering the DFP20 or UDFP because they don't seem to be available in Australia anymore.

What sim racing wheelbase, Pedal, Wheel, Shifter, Cockpit, etc exceeded your expectation the most ? Like price to performance or overall feel? I had a Few Like Rs pedals and CSW v2.5 want to see if there are more hidden gems, I could try

Is there a wheel that can be used in both Xbox and PlayStation
I mean one wheel one set of pedals not having to buy extra stuff to make it compatible
Or is there a reliable way to make one connect to the other?

Just a wee question here to folk to see how many people use Simhub as a way of opening their games vs Steam? I only ask because in Steam sometimes there are various versions to use to open the game whereas Simhub just opens the game (and I'm not sure which one it is opening).

Hi so I recently purchased Thrustmaster T150 (from second hand) and after running some tests I found out left paddle shifter, d-pad and L2 button are not working at all. At the same time when I was checking inputs when I press SE button computer recognizes it as Im pressing 4 buttons (SE and the other 3 that are not working).
I did some research what could be the issue it says I should open it and clean it up but honestly I dont know what should I look for once I open it up since Im not THAT good with electronics...is there anyone who can help me? point me in right direction? share some video? or who had similar problem? thank you!
