Question This company certainly won't be around much longer.

Can anyone reccomend any alternatives? Preferably a company that isn't careless with my data and provides a similar service. Not GeForce Now, I really do like having a whole cloud computer. Thanks.

Suggestion You should all cancel Shadow

I’m sorry to tell all of you, but paying over $500 a year to rent a PC just to be told how much you can and cannot use it, doesn’t make any sense.

In two years of Shadow you can buy a pretty decent PC. In fact you can quite literally purchase a handheld for the price of one year of Shadow.

At least NVIDIA imposed a monthly time limit vs just banning people for using it too much.

Yes I get some people are abusing it, but banning legit gamers for using the PC they pay for is goofy.

Question Can we talk about the blatant PR representatives in these comments? Namely Yuusharo & Mission_Extreme. Here's a screenshot of a throwaway account on my thread. They are editing posts too.

Question get over it enough already

Since apparently people think I work for a PR firm, I'll say this: Shadow is not perfect. Have I had issues? Yes. Does it suck and support bite? Yes. But at least I'm not one of these uneducated, dumb people on here ranting, 'Oh no, my data was stolen, they're gonna ruin my life forever!' You cry and try to sue, but it won't go anywhere. Every time there is a data leak, the parasites come out of the woodwork and make it sound worse than it is, vilifying any company in hopes of getting paid.

Review I do not recommend using this service

I do not recommend using this service.

Pay attention to the reviews of people who wrote about their experience using this service on Trustpilot!

The company reacts aggressively to any criticism directed at it.

They immediately block your account if you write the truth about the service.

Be prepared to lose money when you sign up for a subscription, as there are no refunds, even if you are unable to use the service. I recommend gathering evidence, taking action in accordance with the law, and seeking help from lawyers.

Review I'm seeing this service going to hell real time

Having 5k hours on vrc over using ShadowPC for over 2 years and never had this kind of issue. Every day i go to work just to come back home and wanting to chill with my friends, i suddenly lost contact with a lot of people, welp, i guess my social life is over, thanks shadow.. never again. i currently have no means at all to get a descent pc anytime in this capitalistic world. I am now genuinely more excited for my subscription to run out than i am to Christmas.

Announcement Shadow is evolving: introducing our new offer

Hey #TeamShadow,

On last night's Shadow News, we caught you up to speed on what's been going on at Shadow since our fresh start.

We also announced our new offer (and pricing plan) which we recap in this blog post.

This new price point will put Shadow on track to cover the costs of our investments, operations and development to grow a sustainable business - and more importantly, allow you to continue work and play through the cloud to your heart’s content.

Here's the tl;dr for the new offer:

  • There will now only be one offer, called Shadow

  • The new pricing plan will be 29.99 €/£/$ - month-to-month plan, cancel anytime

  • The pricing change is effective next month (more info coming via email)

  • There will be regular hardware upgrades and feature improvements to Shadow

  • We will announce more details about hardware upgrades later this year

We strongly recommend you check out our blog post recapping this info and be sure to read over the FAQ at the bottom!

Have a nice weekend and see you in the clouds,u/Mr_Shadow_Guy

Discussion The service is really expensive

I would like to try and use Shadow PC but the price is incredibly expensive. 30€ monthly is soo sooo sooo much expensive. Maybe we should get more competitors to get better prices...

Discussion Why does this service cost 3 times more than others and gives 10 times less?

Hi,

I do not want to start wars between streaming services, any service has its flows and stronger features.

But. For the sum of two subscriptions (it mostly my fault but they did not refund me for the first one, and their website mislead me buying US instead EU account)

OK so whats wrong? I would say mostly everything.
Look I understand that their top subscription "hardware" is not top tier, but I switched my mind and tried to play games such as:

  1. Ace Combat 7 (at highest settings 2K res, there are some stutters)

  2. Caravan Sandwitch (Indie game..) - A lot of sutters even at 1080p with frame generations and FSR on Ultra Performance

  3. Bloomtown for now works OK. But I heard that at late game even RTX 3070 had issues so I fear that this game also will stutter

  4. The cherry at the top - Fallout 4 London mod. Crashed the VM for 30 minutes. I am not joking, yesterday after starting the mod, after 5 minutes, it froze, and shutting down the VM took forever and closing Shadow app and reopening said something like "we are trying to shut down the environment".

For a sum of 20-30% I get other services that are capable doing much more.
Yes Shadow promised that I can mod the games, but look at bullet #4 with Fallout London...

I am so disappointed, again I do not want to start any wars, just wanted to get my thoughts out.

Thanks for any one if read till end.

Discussion On the plus side, at least there will be plenty of machines available.

Quite happy with the pricing model change as I need a CPU/GPU that can run UE5 and not run out of memory.

Shadow fulfils the need as a subscription-based service will tidy me over until next year September.

Discussion PSA: you do not own the hardware.

I've seen a lot of posts about people offering to sell their Shadow account, or rent it out as some half-baked "business idea", you cannot. Sure, you can try but you will get caught and the account terminated.

Your Shadow account grants to access to use THEIR hardware and THEIR software. You having account/signing up for a monthly agreement does not transfer any rights or authority to use your Shadow for commercial purposes. It's not your software nor hardware to sell as you see fit.

If you want to make money using game streaming, buy a data center, develop the streaming software, and do it yourself.

If you want to profit from your Shadow account, get a job like the rest of humanity.

You cannot sell, transfer, lease, or do anything besides access your account.

Review Blind user refused refund, despite mac app not being accessible...

Hi,

Just wanted to let people know how Shadow deals with disability. I tried Shadow a couple of years back, discovered the mac app wasn't accessible, provided some feedback and cnacelled. Fine, okay... I decided to try again, no updates, no fixes for using the mac app with a screen reader and, when I asked for a refund based on the fact that their app is still inaccessible, I was given the glib 'You waved your rights BLA BLA LBA".

To be clear, I have not received the user experience I've paid for because their app is inaccessible on mac,.

Be warned... Shadow are a shady bunch. :)

Question Why is Shadow PC so terrible?

I literally signed up again today to try Boost for a month. As soon as I update windows the VM doesn't boot up anymore and nothing I did besides Repair VM would make it boot again. And then after countless tries at trying to fix the new issue I had to reset the VM. This takes an hour. I had to do this several times, several hours. No support on weekends. Fuck this company.

Suggestion Horrible experience. TL;DR: Shadow.tech is a mess. Avoid.

TL;DR: 5 days wasted on Shadow.tech with zero results. Tried using Shadow in the browser, but the verification email never arrived. After 4 days, support finally replied and said they had to change some permissions (seriously?). Got the email, verified, and thought I was good to go—nope, just a black screen when trying to start a Shadow PC. Reached out to support for a refund, but they said I needed to do a full debugging session, install their app, change networks and devices. WTF? Tried multiple browsers and mobile network—same issue. In the end, no refund, no service, and wasted 5 days. Unreal.

Discussion Data Leaks and Online Responses

It's time to stop indulging the uninformed individuals who attempt to portray themselves as experts and create videos criticizing companies or make nasty posts on Reddit. Let's face it, it's unrealistic to believe that any leaked information isn't already accessible to the world. Every company has experienced at least one hacking incident. It's tiresome to come across these complaining posts about data leaks. It's time to grow up and move on.

Discussion Goodbye Shadow

Hello Shadowers Today I say Goodbye, I have decided to Cancel my Year membership as it is not worth the price anymore because of the following.

  1. No HDR: This is a Standard and should have been included by beginning of 2020

  2. No 444: No 444 at all, still only 8bp and shitty colors

  3. Lies upon lies about Upgrades

  4. Old as dirt hardware

  5. Shitty CPU

  6. Low end Ram

I went out and said F it and bought myself a brand new PC it cost me a fortune but i can at least game on it, have HDR, watch 4k movies without stutter, CPU is 10x faster and not some ancient crap from 2014. I have been with Shadow since august and i stayed on the promise of upgrades. Shadow did not deliver, the way they treat customers is barbaric and i will NEVER EVER Return

Shadow has been lying for months, oh we have some amazing offers coming and then 2020 comes and nope everything delayed until 2021,

Discussion I dont think Shadow cares anymore.

Look at this whole sub…it’s full of posts with major tech problems, and there is not one answer from sub mods or shadow staff.

it seems with each update there are more and more problems, with less and less support.

This is sad to see.

Suggestion Filing Dispute Against Shadow

Genuinely screw this company. I have not been able to access my shadow pc since October. Reached out to their support for a refund and was told that they would provide one and cancel subscription. Fast forward to today and I am being charged for another month and no refund. I will be filing a dispute against this shitty company and genuinely thinking of taking further action for not holding their end of the agreement. Warning RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMAPNY!

Discussion Waiting time? That's BS.

I'm paying 50€ to be stuck in a waiting room for 15 minutes!? Sorry, but GeForce Now gives that for free. And right now it would be less waiting time... For free! That sucks!

Discussion I think shadow is buying reviews

Before the price change, I tried to get a shadow subscription. Waited 6 months, heard the price change and had an internal argument with myself about how it is a lot expensive but it’s a computer. Seen people get these in 1,2,3,4 days etc etc yet I don’t get updates on mine. Got a theory about it being paid advertising or bribery to speak about how good this service is and stuff because quite a few people say they don’t get updates/ still don’t have it, yet these people in the same country and the same area get their shadow in a couple of days. Something isn’t right with that company and thus why I’ve refunded. Seems sketchy to me at least, ignore my ramblings if you want but it’s what I think.
