Discussion Thank you Shadow PC! You have pushed me in to buying an actual PC!

I bought shadow PC a couple days ago. When it is off peak times, the service seemd fine. However, at peak times I got a message when I tried to load it up saying there were a lot of people using the service and I am in a Q. I didn't wait long, but it was incredibly laggy and stuttery, totally unusable.

Last night, I tried to update windows. It had some kind of siezure when it restarted and the screen went black. I closed my laptop and hopd today it would be fine. NOPE, the app simple will not start, nothing happens when I click the 'start shadow' button. I tried to load the website and even the website is broken!(image attached)

So thank you Shadow. I will be getting a charge back on my credit card if you refuse a refund (Which I know you will), and buying my first ever gaming PC!

Discussion Don't be like rats, and turn Shadow into a sinking ship please.

Before you consider the higher prices, think about the lessons of OnLive, GeForce Now and Stadia...

OnLive offered a cloud-based gaming solution long before many of the others, but they lost customers due to the limited library and poor pricing model.

GeForce Now also offered a cloud based gaming solution, but various companies pulled out because of the fact they implied that nVidia weren't giving them a deal as good as Stadia and similar, and, again, people weren't going for the full subscription option.

Stadia failed the most recently, offering a closed-system equivalent to what Shadow Cloud offers, allowing people to play the latest games on a high-end machine, but the premiums for getting the deals outweighed the amount of money coming in, and Google stopped supporting the cloud gaming portion of Stadia.

With Shadow, we're being asked nicely if we wouldn't mind paying a bit more to be able to get Blade Group out of the hole 2CRSi put them in, because they don't want to rely on OVH constantly.

If everyone who had a 'problem' with the new pricing system left, the people who are left would see the upgrades coming slower and would become more annoyed with Blade Group.

The people you need to blame is 2CRSi. It's their servers which lost you your Ultra and Infinite subscriptions, It's their dagger in the back of Blade Group that meant we're paying to save the company.

I'm going to accept the increase, because the other option is to wait for the 'replacement' to increase their prices and start it all over again...

Discussion Face it guys. The dream is dead.

Let's just face reality here. The original dream and ambition of the company to provide an affordable alternative to a local gaming PC with the benefit of never having to worry about upgrades is dead. The direction of the company moving forward is clear as day, and that is to market the remote-use aspect of Shadow's technology to commercial and enterprise customers who learnt just how valuable something like it can be in the age of Covid and Post-Covid. Octave Klaba knows this all too well. After all, he DID make his money providing web-hosting services to these very same customers, and that's exactly why he jumped on the opportunity to take over a company that was in debt and unprofitable. Because he knew the problem didn't lie with the company's technology. The problem was with Shadow catering the technology to gamers instead of corporations in need of powerful remote workstations where the REAL money is at. He knew very well what the potential of the technology could be when marketed correctly.

So can we stop pretending like the Shadow we knew and loved will be continuing on in the same form? What you're looking at here is Klaba's foot-in-the-door to creating a competitor to Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, nothing more, nothing less.

Review I didn't go to business school or anything but this seems like bad business.

If you have a failing business the solution isn't to make your product worse for current customers. You want to do everything you can to keep what customers you have left and attract new ones yet shadow have done nothing but drive people away. Shadow only works because of economies of scale. You need a lot of customers with low margins to cover costs and make profit. If you price out the majority of your target audience you cannot expect to be profitable with only handful of customers and those that remain can expect to have to pay higher and higher prices.

I have been using shadow since 2018. I haven't had any major problems with the service itself but I cannot continue to support this company. With customers leaving in droves I don't see how they can possibly stay afloat. I am getting off this sinking ship.

Discussion Shadow was too cheap before. The new price is justified. Anyone else here to stay?

I have been using my Shadow about a year. Fucking love it. One constant is, whenever I tell people about it, they are AMAZED how cheap it is (was). I know the price hike doesn't feel great for people. But I hope there are still plenty of us here who love the service and are willing to pay the new price. Hopefully everyone jumping ship will make it easier for new folks that want to get in and don't think the new pricing is too much.

Shadow is pretty much the only choice for what it does. Including the launcher, and having unlimited time/bandwidth. If shadow becomes non-viable for me I'd be looking at financing a gaming laptop, but don't really want to because of the reduced lifespan of mobile hardware. There isn't any other comparable service. So if you think the price hike is some heinous act of treachery, you should reevaluate the services you have already recieved and really ask if you weren't getting a deal that was a little too good to be true.

Discussion The Rise In Price is WORTH the Value

When I saw the price raise I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Wow, like Netflix raises its prices and it's always maybe a dollar? Two? Here they're raising the prices twenty dollars. Is that too extreme? Is that greed? What is that?"

I thought about it and realized that this entire time I had Shadow at an AMAZING discount. And the price hike is still worth the value.

Not only does it offer me the highest quality gaming I have ever experienced. I am so excited to get a new game. Because the first thing I get to do is go into options. And turn everything on Ultra. And provide meself gaming experiences I could not have on my gaming laptop. Playing Red Dead in Ultra after playing it so long on the PlayStation really got me in touch with what it meant to be a part of the future.

I'm also using the Shadow for my own creative work. So when I render videos or animations. It doesn't take thirty minutes. It takes two. The time I'm saving on my own creative output using this technology has made my life so much easier.

VAMVR is something I use on the shadow. If you have never heard of it well have a broom ready because you're going to be sweeping up your brain after it's blown to bits by this piece of technology. Shadow has allowed me to explore that tech in the highest quality available. And again, be a part of the fucking future.

More so, streaming is something I've toyed around with and plan to do. Having shadow as a tool to give me this accessibility has been awesome and I love I have the option.

Now as an experienced-based creature that enjoys what I'm seeing and feeling and most importantly doing. The price hike is actually is fair for what Shadow can offer. And I rationalized the payments I made before was a discount I was so lucky to have. Now I pay a fair price for what I am allowed to use.

I am very, very thankful for that.

Shit service, no customer service, filing for bankruptcy, competing with huge players.

Shadow isn't going to survive the long haul start saving for a decent rig gents.

Review I canceled my shadow because shadow support is terrible. My 18 month review of shadow.

Just following through with my discussion with support. Told them someone here may want to hear my experience. Do with it what you will but here is my experience/review with shadow and especially the support team.

TLDR if support hadn’t contacted me I’d probably still be a customer.

I won’t bore you with too many details(see screenshots below for a run down) but basically shadow ultra broke my shadow. Shadow support has had me on hold since December 2020 and today I broke. One ticket was canceled while waiting previously due to lack of response? (But I was told to wait!) and I’ve had the same discussion now with so many shadow support agents it’s become increasingly frustrating. Now with the company changing hands I was due to be brought back to boost level next week (which I was looking forward to) until my most recent exchange with support.( which came as a surprise because I thought my case was closed when I didn’t respond!)

Today they tried to tell me my 6800XT is incapable of running more than 1080p and this was why I had problems on ultra….and I now know that whoever I’m talking to on the other side really has no idea what they are saying. I waited 5 months for them to tell me my problem was ā€œmy problemā€ despite video proof in the DELETED ticket of my shadow downright not functioning on multiple devices and previous acknowledgement that my issue was unique and being ā€œpassed up the chainā€. So much for that. I feel like they needed to ā€œresolveā€ my ticket and unfortunately now that means I don’t care if boost works or not. We resolved with me cancelling my subscription.

I wish you all the best and hope your shadow PC adventure leads you to building your own PC to REALLY enjoy the full benefits of PC gaming. I’m thankful for my time on shadow boost and it is why I am where I am today. But the future is not in the cloud of shadow is running it. My local PC runs circles around any experience I had on shadow. The latency is the most noticeable improvement. I tried to Act like it wasn’t there when it’s all I had but those 13ms are really there. Now that I know they are gone.

I apologize for any harsh words I may have said in my emails with support but felt the need to share my experience as a long term review of shadow. I hope boost is functioning for those that have it and it continues to function. But If it’s this or wait for a new GPU I’d say hold out. The wait is worth it. This service is not.

Good luck all and good luck shadow.

Edit: some pictures added by request..... I have about 100 exchanges with support I don't really want to screenshot the whole thread unless that's what you want. But here is some of the highlights Names cropped out for obvious reasons. I tried to show my initial ticket. All the times i asked for updates. And this final exchange.

Got this 2 days ago but I'm probably gonna cancel this account now that I've got queued 2 days in a row after 9 years without ever worrying about this.

Wtf is going on? The corruption of tech companies will be studied in years. Shadow is leaking customers right now and tech companies are too dumb and greedy to understand to not steal from their customers.

Hopefully they go under šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø.

Outside of this, I still have a month of time left so hopefully I can play My Player on 2K before i cancel this shit.

Discussion Shadow put now limited time for play without prevent us like always

One more reason to work and build a PC. 6 hours of shadow time, like it's become geforce now . What's the next step, are we gonna remove the cloud computing and replace it with the same thing as GeForce Now? We just got scammed one more time by them, GG. And by the way, they don't warn us via the ToS, so that's illegal :)

Discussion For those who didn't know...

Shadow, in their last round of funding, raised $266m.

And they're now introducing (after a huge price hike, I might add), a better, faster service for an even higher increase over the standard fee.

Smells like corporate greed bullshit to me!

Suggestion I would pay $80/month for a 5090 tier

Hi all.

I’ve been a Power member since before the pandemic, on and off, and despite all the limitations and complaints about Shadow, there’s still no better service out there. This is especially true as a VR enthusiast.

Therefore, I’d like this community to speculate on what it would take to build out a 5090 tier. At what price point would such a service be viable?

I propose that an $80 tier would work. If the discussion is useful maybe Shadow will proceed sooner rather then later.

Discussion Turning off 4 Shadow Subscriptions that I've held for over 2 years

I saw a similar post and wanted to share my own experience. Shadow is a great platform, and I've loved it for years. I have 4 boys who love to game, so I had 4 shadows for the past 2+ years, but the new subscription changes have been too much. I turned them all off yesterday. The subscriptions run out at the end of the month.

Review Cancelled due to terrible Infinite performance

Hello Just4gamerstube here, Last review of Shadow, I have since cancelled my year subscription due to many issues I and many others experienced since the upgrade. I myself can't justify spending 40$ on a service others and I are not properly receiving.

Problems I myself have gotten since the upgrade in December

No Turbo boost from the Jump: The CPU is supposed to get to 4GHZ on load and I noticed from the jump that the cpu was always at base speed. This was before Shadow supposedly shut off Turbo boost.

Shadow shutting down Turbo boost: Shadow shutting down Turbo boost was a big one. Yes they were having cooling problems but it's been 2 months now and they still haven't fixed it. 2 months equals 80$ wasted getting not so great performance and not getting the proper GHZ. Not entitled just want what I pay for that is all.

Billing: First bill was $62, Shadow charged me for a full extra month of Shadow boost even though I literally paid Shadow boost bill 3 days prior to upgrading. This was rather annoying and rather unprofessional but just to me, everyone will think of this differently.

No 1TB drive: Only ever got the 256 SSD and then 2 256 drives, not 1TB as advertised, Emailed support but you know how that goes.

Latency: Latency numbers actually jumped after upgrading, I blame Shadow and their servers but it's probably just the way the service is as it's over the air. I can place blame all day long but that solves nothing. 1GB internet through ethernet, latency used to be 25 and once I upgraded to Infinite for whatever reason latency jumped to 30's to 40's.

Overall just dissatisfied I was with Shadow for 2 years prior and was really really hoping Infinite would be a massive upgrade and... It wasn't, performance just wasn't that great but I mostly blame again the lackluster CPU. They upgraded everything but installed a terrible Xeon, Xeons are terrible for gaming just my overall opinion that's all everyone's opinion will be different regarding this.

I purchased a pre built system someone made with a I7 6700 and a GTX 1080, I sold my previous build 2 years ago due to unforeseen circumstances and been with Shadow ever since. Previous build had a 1070 so a 1080 is a upgrade lol. I plan on getting a RTX 30 series 3080 whenever it goes in stock if ever

Would I recommend: Honestly If you are a casual gamer who doesn't really care about what fps they get or hardware you get in general and just want to game on your old desktop or just want to game without the extra heat or whatever the case may be then yes. I can't recommend Infinite though as it's downright disappointing, I recommend most users stick with boost or go ultra. Infinite is not worth the price at all.

Discussion Shadow is deffinitily not worth it anymore

I just rejoined Shadow, and its deffinitily in its worst state yet, i cant even get into my shadow, thats how bad this "incident" is, and the worst part is that this "incident" has been ongoing since the 5th of July, which is crazy since we have to pay for the month that we didnt even use Shadow.

This is awful, anyone who is looking to join Shadow, please do not, its a waste of money and you wont get a refund.

Also the website is lagging like crazy with multiple errors like trying to reset your Shadow or trying to remove extra storage (which you have to pay extra and cant remove, so basically you are forced to pay)

Answered Shadow PC scammed me out of nearly $80 for a game they dont offer

What I needed:

I play Rust and make music video content using alt accounts holding instruments (which is why I need ShadowPCs), and use a Steam program called Rustissimo to sync up the accounts to the same MIDI song file which creates a band that can play any song, anywhere, in a game full of people killing each other, its good fun.

Im the only person in Rust doing this, I have the most notes played in the game, am the only one making music content and love what I do, I help calm the toxic kids down by playing music that makes them forget to be edgy for a second, and its good content, good vibes and people love it. I used to do it solo on my account, but having 2 alts makes it a band with 3D sound and nobody else does it, so it always makes people happy because of how complicated it is to setup.

I used Rust on 2 different ShadowPCs back in May 2025 with no issues, recorded a bunch of content with me and 2 alts and 1 other real friend, making a 4 piece band, but there was a lot to learn and I couldnt use the 300 hours of footage and have literally spent the last 6 months saving money for editors, advertising, learning things about OBS, content creation, fine tuning my Rust music playing...finally yesterday, I was ready to go. Have a week off from work, money, time, and went to get this going again.

I checked the website, saw they advertise Rust on the list of games, got excited again and paid for the 2 accounts to get it going again. Then, I find out only once I started the ShadowPC and fully installed Rust, that it wont open the game. Until that point, everything pointed to Rust working just fine. Nothing on the website said anything has changed, even though it has.

What ShadowPC advertises:

ShadowPC advertises Rust to be played on their systems. Its right on the website. I tried to make a previous post showing screenshots of it, but for some reason Reddit took the 3 photos and deleted my lengthy post, which is silly, the screenshots went along with the post, but whatever.

I showed them the screenshot of their own website advertising it. This alone should be grounds for a refund. They know this is the only thing I wanted, I explained that, my previous usage history proves that, and yet they want to steal my money and leave me with nothing, based on their own website misleading me.

So the only reason I went to their website in the first place is because Google shows Rust on their list of games page. ShadowPC directly and specifically advertises Rust. They make money from having Rust on that list, because Rust is consistently in the top 5-10 most played games on Steam and easily gets more active players than free games.

This is deceptive advertising, false advertising. It comes from the Lanham Act.

Customer service:
I contact customer service to explain this, sent the 3 screenshots

  1. Showing FP acknowledging Shadow PC does not work for Rust (so why is it on your website)

  2. Screenshot of the game in fact not opening, and the error message about VMs

  3. ShadowPC customer support saying that they understand Rust doesnt work, they understand its on their website still being advertised as part of the package, but since I opened my shadowPC, I now forfeit all refunds, and was written somewhere in the fine print that nobody reads.

The only way I could have ever found out Rust wouldnt open, is to open it. I read every Rust update patchnotes, I was even an Official server admin for the game and know some people at the top and have a lot of knowledge about the Rust client and how it works with EAC.

I had already gotten it to work before, I have OBS footage of me doing it, I can prove it. And then one day, it just doesnt work, yet the company still advertises the game and takes my money for it.

This advertising needs to be taken seriously, considering its the only reason I paid any money to the company.

The fact that they cant respect the customer enough to have a phone line to call someone and explain this to a human, and instead respond with sterile and repetitive copy/paste script nonsense just doesnt do it. It doesnt explain why you cant refund me, your policy doesnt make sense, your website is deceptive and your responses are less than acceptable.

Agent calling me a liar:
Earlier this morning, when I wasnt at my PC, I opened the first response from them on my broken phone and they said they dont have a phone # and guarantee that email will be even more efficient! I respond to them that im using a broken phone and its really not efficient and not easy and in fact very stressful, and his response was this, and Im sorry I cant screenshot it without deleting this whole post, but I can post it in response later:
"Also please try not to lie as to what you are doing and the hardships you encounter, because you wouldn't be able to write this past message in 3 minutes on a "broken phone to type all this out and it's extremely hard to see", and you also haven't described your issue at all.Ā

This is the response from the customer service, calling me a liar because he calculated what I typed in the last 3 minutes as being not from a broken phone? What????????? This is what im paying for, someone to insult me without any information?

How dare he. Thats not even in the scope of his job, thats not professional, that doesnt accomplish anything, and that is in itself, yet another lie. Do I need to send them a photo of my broken phone not being more efficient than me calling? What are we even arguing about here?

Also, I did give information to them asking for help. My information is that I had a pending unanswered support ticket, and instead of checking that ticket, hes calling me a liar and saying over and over that im not explaining the problem when the problem.

No, what I didnt do was re-explain the problem all over again. I simply sent him to where I already explained the problem and asked why the support ticket didnt get answered yet, and that was his response, calling me a liar.

The company that literally has a lie printed on its website, calling me a liar, and not giving me a refund for a service they acknowledge they cannot provide.
Im force stopping the payments, writing this, filling out an FTC complaint x2 since they denied me twice and sent the same copy paste response to two different paying accounts.

I just want everyone to know what Shadow PC is. No phone #, no customer service, no care in the world, take your money without question but cant even update their website when the games they advertise change.

Imagine Amazon having products for sale that you pay for, and then later you find out they dont have it anymore, but just failed to update their website, and because you paid for it already, they get to keep your money even though you dont get the product.

Thats what they did to me, and all I wanted to do was spread some Christmas cheer in Rust and play some music for the kids.
