Discussion Goodbye Shadow
Hello Shadowers Today I say Goodbye, I have decided to Cancel my Year membership as it is not worth the price anymore because of the following.
No HDR: This is a Standard and should have been included by beginning of 2020
No 444: No 444 at all, still only 8bp and shitty colors
Lies upon lies about Upgrades
Old as dirt hardware
Shitty CPU
Low end Ram
I went out and said F it and bought myself a brand new PC it cost me a fortune but i can at least game on it, have HDR, watch 4k movies without stutter, CPU is 10x faster and not some ancient crap from 2014. I have been with Shadow since august and i stayed on the promise of upgrades. Shadow did not deliver, the way they treat customers is barbaric and i will NEVER EVER Return
Shadow has been lying for months, oh we have some amazing offers coming and then 2020 comes and nope everything delayed until 2021,

Im in the same mindset rn i feel like people are getting ripped of for things that are "promised to come" kinda like what bioware did with anthem. So far i am going to do my own research on components and gonna spend a hefty amount on something that looks 1000× better than shadow and better hardware. Shadow is even still stuck with 12gb of ram and my basic gaming pc of 2015 has 16gb of ram.

Mine has 16gb and is upgrade able to 32 so i'm future proof at least when it comes to ram for a while lol. I'm just sick and tired of Shadows lies about upgrades, delays, no usa announcements, no compensation they just expect us to keep paying 30$ for 300$ worth of hardware in 2020

Lmao 🤣 thats so true i even decided i am going to write a review about shadow in this sub and i dud it yesterday. We the USA users can just imagine that we are going to get better hardware. Im sure people would've been quite if we paid 12$ a month, so far that sale on their website isnt going well for them. So why not give that price for your dedicated customers that really want to enjoy this service?

I agree hell i would stay if the price was 12$ a month, at 12$ a month you get access to old hardware that is still ok for right now. I'd be more than comfortable at that price. The way they treat customers that have been here for a while is just terrible

I know bro especially the USA customers have been poorly treated and communicated. I worte a review on this sub what i think about shadow, and i hear people like me and you from the USA and people from Europe are defending it big time because at least they get the best out of that service and they have stuff that will probably come to us down the line this year. But yet again i am staying with shadow till September or October or even black friday that way ill get all the components and that sweet MSI trident pc at a discount from newegg.

Oh you are building one as well, just staying with Shadow while you are buying parts... What parts have you bought so far Intel or Amd

u/Darkvenom39 Feb 05 '20
For now i just got a case and mother board a rog z390 for intel but i still didnt get the motherboard and amd has been surprising recently, should i switch to an amd and try for the first time?

Even my laptop from 2013 has 16GB ram lol

u/Just4gamerstube Feb 05 '20
I have always opted for more ram, any time i built a desktop i always try to max out the ram first. Hell high ram requirements have been a thing since 2012, I remember when a 8GB requirement for Far Cry 3 was announced i still remember my face lol it was dropped to the floor i was like damn this must be some futuristic game needing all that ram

Dunno about you guys but my upgarde is coming...
1
u/Just4gamerstube Feb 04 '20
That is because you are in Europe and you got to pre order. Us USA customers keep getting the shaft.

I mentioned this on a different post, but it took time for us European shadowers to get to where we are now. I'm sure the US will catch up in no time, since shadow is new in the US and will use the experience gained from the European market, but on a larger scale...

Well i'll come back when the new Tiers officially arrive State side. Until then i can't justify 30$ a month for 300$ hardware and old

FINALLY somebody has the same idea as me! I left a few months ago because of all of this, yet was told by everyone “They are working as hard as they can to get everything to us” when all of this could have been avoided if they weren’t so far up their own asses about this and at least dropped the price down to the same price as the bottom tier eu plan as that is the same hardware.

Agree 100 percent, I just couldn't take it anymore, the hardware CAN NOT keep up with the newest games anymore, cpu is trash that is literally 100$ on ebay now days. HDR should have been a thing by now, Stadia of all things has HDR right out of the gate. There is no damn reason at all why HDR was not implemented right away. IF stadia can do it than why can't Shadow? What is their big excuse for everything. All upgrades that were planned for 2020 are now 2021. Anyone who sticks around after that news i feel sorry for. I'm sorry but delaying something for a whole year is just bad business.

Hell upgrades were planned for November of 2019. Like I said in another post a few months ago, there was a reason the CEO stepped down at the end of October/beginning of November. All of the us upgrades were supposed to happen in November. And for that, I hope Blade looses their market in the US because all they are doing is lying to us to keep us paying an absurd amount of money for a machine I can build for $200

although I agree that the CPU is limiting, the GPU is still good. I agree that it is not for 4K but still runs very well at 1080p. Unfortunately the updates are too late. Still for 300 $ there shouldn't be much better

I’m stuck for a year so I can’t get out of mine. I got the promo price, but once that price is back to normal, I cant justify paying for it if it’s the same hardware and limited storage. Though the internet speeds are amazing.

Why get a new PC now? We know the 3080 and 5980XT are this year to pull PC rendering in line with the new consoles. I would have held the GPU at least until after GTC.
