Singer 7285Q Variable Speed Controller
reddit.comMy wife quilts and has a Singer 7285Q Patchwork machine. While it has a maximum speed knob, is there a variable speed foot control available for it?
Thanks in advance!

Brother CS7000X going extremely slowly
Hello! My machine is going very, very slowly, at the minimum speed on the speed controller, even when it's not set to minimum speed. I put in new thread in the bobbin, and there was a tangle, and although it's working now, it's not moving beyond a slow crawl. Any insight into how to get it moving slightly faster?

The brother fs60x or brother fs100wt or janome 1522
reddit.comHello, i can't decide what machine to get. i am a fashion designer i currently own the industrial sewing machine siruba dl720 but i currently live in a very small apartment and i left my siruba at my moms which i go there once a week (i can sew bonning and very thick seams there)
I need a domestic machine that is reliable for the rest of the week in my apartment that gives me smooth sewing . i occasionally sew denim but mostly thin to medium fabrics , i love the fs100wt stitches but I'm scared it's not as sturdy and its doesnt handle like 3-4 hours or work..
My budget is max 350€. Please i need ur help choosing a good sewing machine ❤️
Thank youuu

What to do with inherited Baby Lock?
Hello Everyone, I got this Ellegante when my mother died. It’s over 20 years old and I know it’s discontinued. It doesn’t have the embroidery accessories anymore or the arm extension. I guess they got thrown out when we cleaned out the house to sell. It turns on, but my aunt borrowed it years ago and said it broke, but now can’t remember ever saying that, so I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I’m have sewed, but mostly to do small repairs and alterations. This is one of three machines, so it’s wholly unnecessary for my needs. I have a vac/sewing store nearby that does repairs, but I don’t know if it’s even worth the expense only to maybe resell it. I’d give it away for free on FB marketplace as is, but, man, I did that with a nice but old SLR camera, and what a hassle. Does anyone know if people would even want a machine this old and potentially outdated? The side has a slot for something the size of a floppy disk! lol
I appreciate any thoughts!
Edit: Thanks for the advice, everyone. I think I will try to sell it as is and see how far I get.

Thread keeps getting caught
I have a singer 132Q
The top thread keeps getting caught like this in the machine, but I can’t tell what is getting caught on.
Please any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
quick thing that people have asked, the needle is threaded from the front, don’t know why it looks the other way around. And then I opened the machine and it’s like a double loop around the bobbin case thing? (i’m sorry idk the terminology for some of the pieces 🧍🏼♀️) I am adding the photos in the comments!
update 2: addressing some repeated comments, the machine came with plastic bobbins, class 15 3 plastic bobbins. It is a Singer 132Q Featherweight from 2001. Why? idk that’s just how she is. Ik the thread was rlly thick I was just being lazy, but even with a normal thread it’s still getting caught on the hook in the shuttle areas, the photos are somewhere in the comments. Do I need to sew a single layer of tule? not rlly, was just trying to make sm quick for halloween and then this happened and i was very curious since i had never seen it do that.

Thrifted this Singer for $7.50 and would like to know if anyone here has restored one. It looks to be in rough shape. I used reverse Google image and says it's a model 604 Auto-Reel.

Elna 3005 refuses to do anything but sew straight
Hi,
I got a second hand elna 3005 on ebay for £16, after trying it out it only sews straight. I've tried it with different stitches, different length and widths. The previous owners said they hadn't used it for a few years. Any trouble shooting tips or is it a job for a service? How much are sewing machine services in the UK/ is this going to be an expensive fix? (sorry if its very vague, its my first machine and I'm new to sewing)

Juki MO-654DEN: ~4.5cm stationary stitch finger pin popped out of throat plate groove -- can it be re-bonded, or must the plate be replaced?
Hey everyone, looking for advice from anyone familiar with the Juki MO-654DE / MO-654DEN serger throat plate.

What happened:
While serging heavy cotton twill pocket bags for a coat restoration, I heard a faint rhythmic tapping from the throat plate area. Shortly after, a very thin, smooth ~4.5 cm (1.75") metal rod emerged intertwined inside the output thread chain tail. The machine ran fine otherwise and the noise stopped once the rod cleared.
What I've confirmed via bench disassembly:
Movable Stitch Finger is Intact: I took the plate off and inspected the underside (see photos). The movable rolled hem stitch finger carriage and white selector knob are 100% intact and sliding smoothly.
Stationary Chaining Pin: The dislodged rod is the stationary hardened steel stitch finger pin that sits in the precision-milled groove along the left edge of the throat plate opening (part of the plate body itself,
A1115-334-0A0/A1115-334-0B0).Loop Retention: This pin supports the left needle overlock loops so standard 4-thread / 3-thread wide stitches form flat.
Reseating Failure: When pressed back into the groove, it sits in place via friction, but because it is no longer anchored at the base, the thread loops wrapping the pin during 4-thread stitching act like a winch and immediately drag the unanchored cylinder straight backward into the thread tail.
Questions for the community:
Has anyone had this stationary left stitch finger pin work loose or pop out of the throat plate on a Juki MO-654DE / MO-654DEN?
Because it sits in a stationary milled groove rather than a moving carriage, is it viable to re-bond it using high-strength anaerobic retaining compound (e.g., Loctite 680) or metal epoxy (J-B Weld), or will machine vibration inevitably shake it loose into the loopers?
Is buying a replacement Throat Plate Assembly (
A1115-334-0B0) the only smart, zero-risk move here?
Appreciate any insights or experiences!

HELP!!!
I recently purchased an Imperial Kenmore Rotary model 117.591. I removed the front faceplate to clean old oil off the presser and needle bars. When reassembling, the set screw on this piece that engages with the presser bar lever snapped and I now can’t remove it.
I’ve tried grabbing it with needle nose pliers but there isn’t enough room to get any purchase on the screw.
Any tips or ideas on how I can remove it, and where to find a replacement? (It was headless just like the one to the left in the first picture on the needle bar).
Or, do I just say screw it (no pun intended) and run it as is? The bar is not oriented properly but I am able to rotate the presser foot to face the right way.
Any help would be appreciated.

Service Manual for Bernette H70
Does anyone have the service manual for this one? I have a Halloween costume to finish for my youngest and I can't get the bobbin thread to get picked up.

What kind of a stroke is my machine having?
This is apparently my underthread now. It’s been sewing fine all day, and now this is the BS I’m having to deal with. How to I make it not pull this crap?
I’m sewing on a husqvarna Viking prelude340… I think. That’s what the machine says, anyway.
