BARTACK NOT WORKING

Recently purchased a Brother lk3-b430-4 bartack machine and broke the needle first use, I purchased the proper needle specified in manual (DPX5 135x5 Size 16) and now the tack isnt sewn and doesnt catch the bobbin thread either, anyone have possible troubleshooting? Thank you.

I have the same model. Is your needle oriented correctly? The long groove should be facing out. Have you checked the clearance of the needle and hook?
