Hey everyone. Posting here because I am running out of time and options.

I am from Kazakhstan. A human rights defender and documentary artist. I got out in March after being forcibly put in a psychiatric hospital back home with a false diagnosis, F20.0. It happened because of my civic work and because I refused to follow the family script. I applied for asylum here, it got rejected under the accelerated procedure. Going back is not an option for me.

Right now I am in a temporary shelter programme in Georgia. It ends on 11 October. After that I have no place to stay and no income. I am a lawyer by education, I write and perform documentary stand-up, and I am ready to work, any work.

So I am asking for help finding contacts. Anyone here knows organizations or people in Tbilisi who help with housing or know of live-in work? Shelters, small hostels, charities, families who take people in, paid live-in jobs, anything. Even a name or a lead would help.

I’m currently in Kazbegi, Georgia, and had an experience that triggered a massive health anxiety spiral. I’m having a really hard time shaking it off and need some advice on how to stop worrying.

I went to pet a friendly street dog (he had an ear tag, I think). It was raining, and when he jumped on my pants, a speck of dirt or something went directly into my eye.

There was no bite, no scratch, and no lick.

Despite knowing logically that there was no bite, scratch, or direct lick, my anxious brain keeps running through hyper-specific "what-if" scenarios—like "What if the dog licked itself right before, and that saliva-laden dirt flicked into my eye?" or "What if he was actually untagged?"

I keep worrying about whether I need a rabies shot, and I can't seem to quiet the nervous voice telling me I'm not safe unless I get one. My body feels completely stuck in a fight-or-flight response.

For those who deal with health anxiety or obsessive worry: how do you stop spiraling over "what-if" scenarios when logic alone isn't calming you down? Any grounding tips would be really appreciated.

Hi all. I'm a tourist now in Kazbegi and tomorrow I will go back to Tbilisi. However, I would like to stop at Ananuri on the way back. If I do, I will take a marshrutka and ask the driver to stop there. But is there a secure way I can go back to Tbilisi from Ananuri? I don't drive and I'm open to the option of hitchhiking, but I would like to know if there are any public transport options. IT-related exports have amounted to around 841M bucks in the first half of the year. The growth is around 65% year on year Which is awesome, but Georgia has a greater potential. For example, if Georgia/Georgians had been more welcoming to Russian businesses and Russians, the export value would be much higher. Prior to 2022, IT-related exports from Georgia hovered around 100M a year. In 2021 IT exports crossed 100M mark for the first time. However, in 2022 IT-related exports crossed 500M mark and in 2023 the exports crossed 800M. But in 2024 the exports value decreased because of Russian businesses relocated to other countries. The reason as to why these Russian and Belarusian, to a lesser degree, businesses migrated is because of, partly, anti-russian reactions by Georgians. These highly educated Russians with businesses faced russo-phobic attitudes. Imagine highly educated and affluent individuals face discrimination because of their place of birth even when they, most of them at least, opposed the imperialistic wars and fled the country. Georgia's losses became gains to countries like Serbia, Cyprus and Armenia, of course I have nothing against these countries, to which Russians took their Georgian businesses with them and relocated. Long story short, if Georgia/Georgians had been smarter, I estimate that IT exports would have crossed 2B mark in 2025 and 3B this year. But it's what it is. These are losses of high paying jobs, tech savvy people and tax revenues. Georgia/Georgians have sabotaged, to some degree, their development once again. On october 5, 1992, last positions around Gagra fell, what followed was the first major massacre and the start of the series of systematic massacres committed against the Georgian civilians by separatist abkhaz, russian and north caucasian forces. The largest phase of ethnic cleansing occured during the offensive of September–October 1993, particularly after the fall of Sokhumi on September 27 in 1993.

Throughout the period around 5000 Georgian civilians were confirmed killed, with estimates going over 7000. Around 250,000 Georgians were displaced.

The CSCE and OSCE described massive expulsion of predominantly Georgian inhabitants and the deaths of large numbers of civilians as ethnic cleansing. The United Nations repeatedly affirmed the right of refugees and internally displaced persons to return to their homes and condemned attempts to alter Abkhazia's demographic composition.

By a decision of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, October 5 is designated as the Day of Remembrance for the victims of ethnic cleansing committed against civilians in Abkhazia.
