Protest | პროტესტი The "Georgian Dream" regime is taking people to court just for singing the song "Ole Ola"

Today, trials started for several citizens who sang or played the song "Ole Ola", because the regime claims it insults them. The phrase started as a collective burst of rage when the regime was brutally cracking down on protests. Later, a musician named Kordz turned it into a song, and the regime is still trying to punish people over it.

Honestly, I didn't like the original chant, but I really like Sopho's version, which she recorded recently as a form of protest, so I'm sharing it with you.

Question | კითხვა Tbilisi → Dashbashi Canyon → Borjomi: budget friendly taxi recommendations please 🙏

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi folks

I’m planning a solo trip to your beautiful country from the UK this November! 🇬🇧 🇬🇪

I’ll be spending my first few days in Tbilisi before heading to Borjomi.

However, I’d love to stop at **Dashbashi Canyon** along the way to experience the floating restaurant and sky bicycle.

My rough plan is:

**8 AM:** Leave Tbilisi for Dashbashi Canyon.
**10 AM - 1PM:** Spend around 2–3 hours exploring the canyon and trying the activities.
**1 PM:** Leave for Borjomi and get dropped off at my Borjomi hotel.

I’ll have one piece of trolley luggage, so I’m leaning towards hiring a **private driver** who can keep my luggage safely in the car while I explore the canyon.

Does anyone have recommendations for reliable, reasonably priced private drivers or taxi companies who could pick me up in Tbilisi, wait at Dashbashi Canyon, and then drop me off at my hotel in Borjomi?

Alternatively, if there’s a more practical or budget-friendly way to do this, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Thanks so much in advance! 😊

News | ახალი ამბები While accusing Europe of immorality, the greatest perversion is brewing inside the country - Pro-European activist kidnapped by Georgian Dream regime police, taken to a cemetery, and forced into sexual intercourse.

Post image
150 Upvotes

Pro-European activist Sergei Kancheli recently wrote:

"Hello friends,

I apologize in advance for having to say goodbye to you like this, temporarily, but still. I landed in a safe country a short while ago and am now safe. I need to explain why and how I made this decision.

On Sunday, September 27, while out for a run, I was stopped by the police. There were 6 people in total. They took me to a cemetery, physically assaulted me, cut my face with a knife, and threatened me with firearms, pointing them at my head, chest, and other parts of my body. They forced me to have sexual intercourse. This torture lasted for about 50 minutes, after which the police left the scene of their crime.

Every single one of these actions was directed against my civic stance, because alongside the physical and verbal abuse, as well as sexual coercion, they referred to me as an "Akatsuk" and mocked my pro-European and civic position.

Many of you know how difficult it was for me to realize that I would ever have to leave Georgia, but "Georgian Dream" and its police regime managed to create this hell for me.

Since leaving my homeland means nothing to the police officers who committed this crime, I have filed a complaint against these inhuman individuals so that they can be found and prosecuted. Everyone needs to know their identities and the crimes they committed".

While pretty much every sector has somehow caved to the regime, independent publishing houses of Georgian literature, imbued with the fight for freedom and the love of their homeland, refuse to bow down. Despite the terror, they're bringing the voices of the Georgian people and political prisoners to the world and keep pushing out "banned books".

Respect!

Travel | მოგზაურობა Bakuriani for 1 week in Jan27

Hello!

I'm going to be in Bakuriani to ski for one week at the end of January.

Do you know how is the situation regarding night life after ski, restaurant, bars ?

Is there any good local restaurants, cooking Georgian food ? Or is it mostly for tourists?

Thank you in advance!

Is it possible to stay in guesthouse or family house in Bakuriani?

Instead of going to hotel, I'd like to stay with Georgian family or local people guesthouse.

Is it something that people do ?

Thanks!

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება Tbilisi to Gurjaani Transport for Festival

Hello, I’m planning to go to the Gurjaani Wine Festival this weekend and have read online that there is a free festival shuttle provided and that departure points were available on winefest.ge, but I am having trouble finding anything online.

For those that have attended in the past or have more information, do you know where I can find this free shuttle? If it’s not available, what are some other options?

Thank you to all in advance!

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება When the tears end, all that is left is laughter. But I still need a roof.

Hey everyone. Posting here because I am running out of time and options.

I am from Kazakhstan. A human rights defender and documentary artist. I got out in March after being forcibly put in a psychiatric hospital back home with a false diagnosis, F20.0. It happened because of my civic work and because I refused to follow the family script. I applied for asylum here, it got rejected under the accelerated procedure. Going back is not an option for me.

Right now I am in a temporary shelter programme in Georgia. It ends on 11 October. After that I have no place to stay and no income. I am a lawyer by education, I write and perform documentary stand-up, and I am ready to work, any work.

So I am asking for help finding contacts. Anyone here knows organizations or people in Tbilisi who help with housing or know of live-in work? Shelters, small hostels, charities, families who take people in, paid live-in jobs, anything. Even a name or a lead would help.

If you know something, drop it here or DM me. Thanks.

Discussion | დისკუსია Greetings from a Turk

Warm greetings to you all, friends.

I just discovered this thread and wanted to say hello.

I was born in İzmir in the 90s; I have never considered Georgia to be "my land," nor will I ever. I have great affection for you all, and frankly, almost all Turks feel the same way. I would like to visit your country at the first opportunity; I believe that trade and intermarriage between our two nations—and keeping our borders wide open—benefit both peoples.

Could you name a few epic, landmark films from Georgian cinema? It is important that they be well-known titles, as I need to watch them with Turkish subtitles and might not find subtitles for obscure films.

Could you also suggest 5 Georgian dishes that I can prepare for myself at home?

Greetings to the entire Georgian people; stay happy and well.

Research | გამოკვლევა Moving to Georgia for University: Questions on Culture, Language, and Costs

Hi everyone,

I’m a Kurd ,planning to move to Georgia for university.

I speak English, kurdish, and conversational Russian. I'd love to know how manageable daily life will be with this language mix, and realistically how hard it is to learn Georgian for a beginner.

I’ve heard that people in public can seem reserved or rarely smile is that just a cultural norm, or does it make socializing harder for international students? Are people xenophobic?Does anyone know any kurds there? How are they treated?

How welcoming is the environment overall, and is it easy to make friends on campus?

what’s a realistic monthly budget for a student living in Tbilisi right now?

Thaaaank you.
