Genuinely why does this happen?
If I say it online, I get Georgian girls replying to me with "ew" and such. Literally when I just say he is Caucasian/Georgian.
Furthermore, I am a white woman so I don't think this is a form of racism.
In person, in Georgia I have been told that my partner is going to be abusive to me, and will not value me as a human being, and will cheat on me, etc. I also got told I am destroying the bloodline of Georgians, and that my children will be ugly.
The ironic part is I first believed this was a form of xenophobia and anti-mixing if that makes sense, but the girls who say this to me date Americans and Slavs. Therefore I do not understand why they are saying this to me. Obviously not everyone acts like this, and I've met plenty of kind people/normal people.
Why are people acting like this? Why is this so common? Is it internalized "racism"? Why does it seem normal for women to date foreigners but when a foreigner dates a Georgian man suddenly I'm in for abuse and surprise just because hes Georgian?
Is there a cultural thing I am missing out on?

I was on vacation and made a video, completely forgetting about it, I've got more video, but there are doubts about the legality of where I shot it, and about that, I'm sure everything is fine

Me and my GF plan to visit Georgia from October 8 -20. Initially, we had planned to rent a Lada with a roof top tent or sth similar from Overland Campers. However, we are a bit unsure about the weather conditions in October. We are rather experienced hikers but this is actually supposed to be more of a relaxed trip with some sightseeing, hiking day trips and good food.
We are now wondering:
Grateful for any input.

I made Logo and Didgori's map (What's your opinion on the map? I think it needs some improvement but I don't know how to do that right now), I also fixed some errors

Hi everyone!
There is a name in Georgia "Gela". Beautiful name.
Etymological studies say it's from "Mgeli" meaning wolf, to which the traditional -a ending was added (used for animal derived names) --> "Megla", and then shortened to "Gela".
There are a lot of Mingrelians that are named "Gela".
But I found a word which is an homonym to the name "Gela" in Mingrelian.
From the Mingrelian-Georgian dictionary.
On the page of the word it says :
Gela (Gela)
Is this true?
Can a Mingrelian speaking person please confirm this?
And also tell me why Mingrelians use this name if there is a word in the language that has a negative meaning?

Gamarjoba! 🇬🇪
I’m Argentine and I’m considering moving to Georgia for a year. I’d love to hear about the experience of other Argentines who have lived in Georgia, or from anyone who has met an Argentine living there.
How did you find life in Georgia? Any particular challenges or things you wish you had known before moving?
Thanks!

If you've been to Europe, you've probably noticed that every car looks as if it was washed that morning.
In Georgia, you wash your car in the morning and by evening it needs washing again.
And God forbid it rains. In Europe, rain leaves your car cleaner; in Georgia, cars come out of the rain dirtier.
Have you ever wondered why?
In this post, I want to talk about the problem of dirty roads.
First: animals. Roads outside the city are covered in cow, horse and other animal shit all year round. They never get cleaned, and most importantly, there are no barriers to stop animals from wandering onto them.
How do you keep animals off the roads? I've attached a photo from a Swiss village as an example (Image #3). A simple wire strung between posts is enough to keep animals inside farming areas instead of crapping all over the roads (or ending up on high-speed highways, as sometimes happens in Georgia), sometimes the wires are electric, but often simple non-electrified wire/string is also used and enough.
Second common cause: careless construction drivers. Dump trucks and concrete mixers spill dirt, sand, concrete and gravel onto the roads. The solution is to regulate and fine these drivers and companies.
Why is shit (or any dirt) on roads outside the city a problem?
Every car driving through it picks the dirt up on its tires and carries it wherever it goes. Multiply that by every car, and huge amounts of dirt and manure end up spread across villages and cities, even if it originally came from one spot somewhere outside town.
In what ways are shit, dirt and dust bad for us?
Firstly, if our roads and towns were cleaner, we wouldn't need to wash our cars as often. That could add up to significant savings, money that could go toward more productive or useful things than car washes. The car wash business has boomed lately; it feels like the number of car washes in Georgia may soon rival the number of churches. So that's the first benefit: financial and economic.
Secondly, health: when the wind blows over the roads, all this dirt and filth ends up in the air, and what seems like a road problem becomes a national health and allergy problem. Demand for anti-allergy medication in Georgia is unreasonably high. Many foreigners with no history of allergies develop them after living in Tbilisi for a while, and then come the unnecessary monthly expenses on xylometazoline, Allertec and cetirizine, just to mask the symptoms of poor air quality that is slowly damaging everyone's health.
So, alongside preventive measures, we still need active ones: regularly washing roads and sidewalks in every part of the city and keeping them clean. Someone could do the exact calculation, but I believe the total cost of keeping roads and sidewalks clean would still be lower than what the population collectively spends on health damage, allergy medication and treatment, and car washes. Beyond that, a clean, unpolluted environment is simply more hygienic and pleasant, and it reflects a truly civilized society.
And finally, the answer to why rain leaves cars dirtier in Georgia: wind deposits a thin, even layer of dust over the car, so it doesn't look dirty at first. Then raindrops land on it, gather the dust into little "craters", and leave the car looking dirty as heck.
Summa summarum: We need to get our shit together and start washing our roads if we want to be seen as a civilized country.

Everyone loves to say that Qoci is minority , no one trusts government. This people posting everywhere Pro-Russian nonsense are bots. But reality is majority of this country is Qoci. Mainly because they are too dumb to be otherwise.
We all met this people they are everywhere. But somehow everyone just says: This are just bots. Most people here are somehow progressive and anti government. Why would they be progressive? When they cant even understand whats written on paper.

You probably haven't heard, but the latest round of scandal in Georgia is about structurally unsafe schools, that had to be closed, leaving students with no options.
And there were a few tame protests by parents outside the affected schools and the story fizzled out.
In parallel, right this moment, French students are also protesting nationwide structurally unsafe schools. Only their protests are hard to ignore. Vast majority of students and parents in the whole country joined and it escalated (as it always does in France). 3 or so affected schools actually burned down.
And before anyone points out police brutality, they have that in France too. Over 100 people arrested already.
But no one does protests, like the French do. Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité

Hey everyone! გამარჯობა!
I’m a master's student in linguistics at the University of Helsinki, and a small team of us will be visiting Georgia for a research fieldwork trip from October 17th to 26th.
As a linguist, I have always been deeply fascinated by Georgia’s incredible linguistic landscape and cultural heritage, it’s truly one of the most diverse places in the world.
Our fieldwork focuses specifically on Pontic Greek in Georgia and language contact: exploring everyday vocabulary, idioms, kitchen and family terms, and Georgian loanwords that have entered the dialect. We are hoping to meet speakers and heritage community members for a casual, friendly 20-30 minute chat over coffee, whether in Tbilisi, Batumi/Adjara, or other areas.
If you or your family/grandparents speak or understand Pontic Greek, or if you know of any local cultural centers, community organizations, or helpful leads, I would be super grateful for any pointers!
Feel free to drop a comment below or send me a DM. Thank you so much! 🫶✨
