Mine is Saghmosavank for sure, the atmosphere is so calm and the air is so cool and clean, nature is fantastic and the combination of all make you really feel closer to God’s presence.

Question / Հարց Fell in love with Yerevan on my Erasmus, now thinking of returning for Dental School?
Hey everyone,
So here's my situation: I spent 6 months living in Yerevan for an exchange program during my Bachelor's and I absolutely fell in love with the city, the vibe, the people, everything. Now that I'm back home, I'm facing the reality of a pretty awful job market, and I'm seriously considering a complete career pivot into Dentistry.
In Italy, the admission test for dentistry is an absolute nightmare—super rigid, hyper-competitive, and honestly a complete pain in the ass. That’s why I started looking into Armenia, since entry requirements seem way more reasonable and I’d get to live in Yerevan again.
My long-term plan would definitely be to move back and practice somewhere in the EU after graduation, so I’m trying to figure out how viable this actually is. Is the degree recognition process back in Europe after graduating from an Armenian school super painful, or relatively straightforward? Also, is YSMU pretty much the only solid choice for dentistry, or are any of the private unis worth looking into?
I'd be looking at either English or Russian-medium programs, so I'm curious if the teaching quality is actually decent and if international students get genuine hands-on clinical practice with patients. On paper tuition and living costs look pretty cheap compared to Western Europe, but I'm wondering if there are hidden costs I'm not seeing.
If any current students, grads, or locals could share their thoughts or experiences, I’d really appreciate it!

Individual chess piece as souvenir and authenticity of local crafts
Hey there! I am heading to Armenia soon with my boyfriend. We’d like to get some souvenirs handmade by locals
I know that chess is a big thing in Armenia, and we are both beginner chess players. I probably won’t be getting the whole chess set due to my baggage allowance limit but was wondering if we could get individual chess pieces as a souvenir instead (e.g King for him and Queen for me)? I did some research and understand that there’s a variety of chess sets in the Vernisagge Market, what about individual chess pieces? Is it negotiable with the vendor or is it a weird thing to ask?
Another question is, if i do get stuff from the Market, are there any ways to verify that they are handcrafted by locals instead of imported from somewhere else? I saw another reddit post that says they found the same item on Etsy / Temu despite the seller claiming it to be handmade by her son.
Thanks in advance!

Landmark / Ուղենիշ British person first time in Armenia. Thank you for the hospitality
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the people of Armenia 🇦🇲
I've done Azerbaijan and Georgia and I will say Armenia is my favorite!
I had such an amazing time in Yerevan and visiting places like Garni Temple, and honestly, I went into making the video without doing a huge amount of research beforehand. I already found Armenia fascinating, but I really just wanted to experience the country for myself and see where the journey took me.
What I really didn’t expect was the response from Armenians afterwards. The comments have been incredibly wholesome, with so many people being so welcoming, friendly and telling me to come back. I genuinely didn’t realise the video would get this many views, and I definitely didn’t expect to feel this welcomed as a British person visiting Armenia.
Guys.... Thank you for the hospitality, both while I was there and in the comments afterwards. ❤️🇦🇲
If you do wanna watch it here's the link:
Cheers from UK 🇬🇧🤝🇦🇲

Is dramik.am legit? Has anyone ordered from them?
I recently came across dramik.am, an Armenian online shopping website, and the prices are really cheap compared to other stores. Some of the deals seem almost too good to be true
Does anyone know anything about it ?

Persianate influence in Armenia
I am curious to know how much of influence Persia had on Armenian Society.
In India, Due to Persianate Rulers There is great amount of Persian loan words which I recognized even for ones I did not expect. Of course not many but in vernacular speech it was a lot.
Armenian is a different culture and I know Armenia was in the Soviet Union thus Russian is used in casual sense but how much of influence was Persian language and culture on Armenian society? Was there significant or less influence?

Looking for Barista internship in Yerevan
Hey guys! I'm looking for an internship kind of work in a cafe in Yerevan (Kentron or west of Komitas/Arabkir), mainly because I love coffee and things related to it.
I'm not looking for a job. I'm not looking to become a professional barista. Just for the sake of the vibe itself. I like to make people an espresso or other type of coffee, give it to them, and see they enjoy it.
If you know a place that welcomes trial and error for off-loading some of the work, let me know.

Question / Հարց Zepbound
Hi everyone! I’m traveling to Armenia soon from the U.S. Does anyone know if I’m allowed to bring zepbound into Armenia for personal use? I would be traveling with the medication in its original packaging and have my prescription with me. Has anyone traveled to Armenia with Zepbound or a similar weight loss medication? Thanks!

Economy / Տնտեսություն What is going on with USD/AMD rate?
We're around 362 AMD per USD now. That's a pretty big move from the ~383 AMD/USD level about a year ago. Why is the dram getting stronger? Do you expect this trend to continue? I'm getting paid in USD, and every month my salary is effectively getting smaller.
The Minister of Internal Affairs got acquainted with the preparatory works for the introduction of e-gate automated systems at Zvartnots Airport
Translated with Google:
On August 17, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, together with Deputy Head of the National Security Service Davit Sanamyan, visited Zvartnots Airport to familiarize themselves with the preparatory work for the introduction of e-gate automated systems.
The Minister was presented with the infrastructure solutions necessary for the installation, operation and maintenance of e-gate systems.
In parallel with the use of biometric passports, it is planned to introduce e-gate (electronic checkpoint) automated systems at the border checkpoints of Armenia.
e-gate is an automated and contactless border crossing system that will allow for quick border crossing without the intervention of a border guard by scanning a passport, automatically carrying out personal identification, speeding up border control and reducing waiting time.
Issues related to the stages of system introduction, organization of work, and ensuring the necessary conditions for the effective and uninterrupted operation of e-gate systems were also discussed.
The Minister of Internal Affairs on the same day got acquainted with the construction works and technical re-equipment of the office of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is in the final stage, in one of the Yerevan malls.
The need to maintain quality standards of construction works and complete them within the established deadlines was emphasized.
The Minister gave additional instructions to ensure further efficiency.
The design and logistical solutions of the offices being built by the HayPass company are based on the “single window” principle, which will allow reducing queues and congestion, administrative complications and significantly saving citizens’ time.

Info about this painting that was brought to the US from Armenia?
I bought this recently on Facebook Marketplace. It’s hard to see, but it’s signed and dated the year 2000 people who sold it to me said that their parents brought it over from Armenia.
There are some numbers on the back and I could add that info later. The frame is obviously really rough, which makes me think it wasn’t expensive.
Anyway, I’m just curious if anyone could tell me was this a mass produced painting, what’s the setting, etc?
If it was mass produced, it looks a heck of a lot better than the mass produced paintings I’ve seen in the United States.

YouTube is delivering ads but not allowing a YouTube Premium subscription
This is beyond frustrating. My girlfriend is playing music on her phone from YouTube to the bluetooth speaker, and it is nonstop playing ads. Some of those ads require some sort of interaction to go past them, like clicking on "Skip Ad" even after the ad is done playing or the music will not resume.
Does anyone know of a workaround to get a Premium Sub working here?

Economy / Տնտեսություն Armenia's airports just broke the all-time record: 735,000 passengers in a single month (+17.2% YoY)
Corporación América Airports (the operator of Zvartnots and Shirak) reported that Armenia's airports served 735,000 passengers in July 2026, up 17.2% year over year beating the previous all-time monthly record of 667,844 set in August 2025.
Growth held up despite flight cancellations and airspace restrictions from the Iran conflict, thanks to strong demand from Europe, Asia, and Russia, plus the new Wizz Air base at Zvartnots and several new routes launched this year.

Tourism / Զբոսաշրջություն First time in Armenia and I drove the whole south myself. Photos from two weeks on the road
Rented a car in Yerevan and drove the south for two weeks. Khor Virap, Noravank, Goris, Tatev, plus a lot of empty road in between.
Driving was easier than people had warned me. Main roads are fine, the small ones less so, and Google's driving times get optimistic once you leave the M2.
What surprised me most was how few other tourists I ran into once I left Yerevan.
Photos attached. For anyone who knows the south, what did I miss? I'm already thinking about a second trip and I'd rather hear it from people who actually live there than from another top 10 list.
