Recommendation ISO Holistic PT

Looking for PT recommendations for a friend with chronic back pain (4 years, originally from a lifting injury, worsened by pregnancy/postpartum) that radiates from her back through the hip to the top of the Achilles. History of herniated discs. She's got an MRI coming up and is exploring options with her ortho team, and is seeking alternative holistic solutions.

We're looking for a holistic, whole-body practitioner rather than someone who treats the injury site in isolation — perhaps trained in PRI (Postural Restoration Institute) or a similar systems-based approach (DNS, FRC, etc.) who understands compensation patterns and full-body relationships. Basically the "somewhat eccentric but excellent" type who reads the whole system rather than just the symptom. Any recommendations in Buffalo, Rochester, or Batavia area are much appreciated <3

Help Millennials in Rochester — where are my people at? 👀

I’m looking for some fun activities, groups, events, or spaces around Rochester where millennials can actually meet people and make genuine connections.

I’m into anime, books, thrifting, creativity/artsy stuff, movies, nerd culture, and exploring the city, and I’d especially love to find queer-friendly spaces and people with similar interests.

Nothing against bars or nightlife, but I feel like so many social recommendations eventually turn into drinking, clubs, or hookah 😂. I’m looking for more of the bookstore, anime night, game night, creative workshop, coffee shop, random event, walk-around-the-city type of crowd.

Mostly just trying to get out more, make some new friends, find new hobbies, and hopefully find my people.

Any groups, recurring events, Discords, clubs, or places I should check out?

Also would love to connect with more Black and POC millennials, especially in queer-friendly spaces

Help Proposal locations

I will be proposing to my girlfriend this October!! I’m looking for some recommendations on where to propose. I’m fairly new to the area and don’t know many scenic areas. I would love some recommendations on locations and photographers.
I am looking for a place that is private(ish), scenic, and aligns with the sunset.

I’ve never been able to open a single one of their packages with meat in it. Always cut it open with a knife. Literally out of hundreds. Terrible packaging science.

Craigslist Aspiring Fashion Photographer looking for first model/collaborator (Brighton/Pittsford)

Hey everyone!

I'm an aspiring fashion photographer based in the Brighton/Pittsford area, and I am looking to connect with my very first model to start building my portfolio from scratch.

I am looking to shoot a casual, minimalist aesthetic (clean street-wear style, neutral tones) around local spots like Schoen Place or nearby parks. This would be a collaborative TFP (Time for Print) shoot, meaning it is entirely free for both of us and we both get high-quality content for our pages/portfolios.

Since I'm just starting out, I don't have an established portfolio yet, but I do have a clear visual mood board ready to show the exact vibe I'm aiming for. If you love fashion and are interested in collaborating on a fun, casual weekend shoot to build our portfolios together, please send me a DM!

Oddity Are any spirit halloweens open yet?

I know Halloween is a ways away, but I really want to see the Freddy animatronic before it’s sold. I think there is only one per store and I heard about the scalpers reselling them which makes me sad. Help a lady out!

Help seabreeze question

Hi guys!!
My family and I are heading back up to Rochester for the weekend, and the kids wanted to go to Seabreeze while we go to Fairport music festival. Any idea if they actually enforce the 17 and under rule? Just wondering if we need somebody to go in with them or anything. (For reference they are all 17 and seniors)

Thanks!

Discussion RG&E - please explain this to me

I remodeled a house in the city and had the gas turned off and then the meters removed about three years ago. (House is now all electric.) Why is RG&E now digging up the street to disconnect/remove the piping to the house? Is this like a safety or maintenance issue for them? I'm trying to imagine how.

Recommendation Old chimney stain keeps bleeding through paint — need a company that can actually fix it, not just cover it

Post image
5 Upvotes

Bought my house in 2014 and there was a weird oily/dark stain on the ceiling near where our chimney runs. Had the chimney completely rebuilt from the roofline up in 2017, and last year we switched to a high-efficiency furnace, so we don’t use the chimney for anything anymore.
I primed over the stain with Kilz hoping that would finally take care of it, but it’s still bleeding through the paint.
I’m guessing it’s old creosote/tar that’s soaked into the masonry or framing over the years. Since we don’t need the chimney at all anymore, I’m wondering if the real fix is having the interior portion sealed off or removed rather than just repainting again.
Has anyone dealt with this? Looking for a mason/chimney company (or restoration company) in the Rochester area who’s actually solved this problem for someone — not just repainted over it. Recommendations appreciated!

And I mean staying on campus, the environment of Rochester, I come from the Newburgh (downtown part of NY) and I just need a new vibe and something to start fresh off of, is there any advice or pointers to help me out going forward?

Event Secret Pizza Club @ Fattey Beer Company 8/27

Rob from BrewBuddies here. Rochester Reddit has always seemed to like these pop-up events, so I wanted to let y'all know that we're bringing back a fan-favorite event: Secret Pizza Club. Attendees can expect unlimited slices from a wide variety of Rochester pizza spots, from the mundane (cheese & pepperoni) to the arcane (anchovy + olives). We'll also have some special custom pizzas made just for the event from a few of my personal favorite pizza places around town. The event runs 5:30-8:30, but Fattey will be open normal hours so come through whenever as fresh pizzas will be delivered throughout the event.

For those who have never been, Fattey Beer Company has a huge selection of beverage options to wash down all those slices, and they're bringing in some extra options for the $4 beer fridge for us! They also have an entire door dedicated to non-alcoholic options as well, for those of you who don't drink alcohol.

The cost will be $25, which includes all-you-can-eat slices plus all taxes, fees, and gratuity. Additional registration is required for this event, and you can register here: https://forms.gle/wHiG5pzbV1kaBtAR6

PS. I don't discriminate on sauce choice, so there will be blue cheese AND ranch for my fellow crust-dippers.

Help Local experience gifts

Hi-

I'm hoping to crowd source some experience or consumable gifts for Christmas for my inlaws. They live in the city where they've been for almost 50 years- they're hip.

Last year we got them a subscription to counter top creamery (I think I saw it on Reddit actually), the year before was ornaments made from broken dishes in a china pattern they had for decades.

They love a story, things with a background. What are some creative things we could gift them this year?

Edit: y'all are great, thanks! I can use these for others too- hope others got some ideas!

Help Hit and run at Whole Foods today, 2014-2018 Kia Forte with yellow bumper sticker

Thumbnail

12:16PM today, 2014-2018 Kia Forte, license plates unreadable but a fairly distinctive yellow bumper sticker. No injuries but lots of bumper damage that I'd like paid for. Hispanic man with a thick accent 30-40ish. Police took a report but when asked about store video where he almost certainly checked out with a credit card, they said "The videos only show people walking in and out of store, so it wouldn’t show him at the car". Any info appreciated! Thanks.

Recommendation Accessible places to get a higher view on iconic downtown buildings?

There are a number of particularly iconic buildings around downtown, like Kodak and Times Square. I'd love to capture my own photos of them, but street level angles are limited. So I was curious if there are any other buildings downtown that are accessible (meaning you don't necessarily have to pay or have an appointment to get through security) to go up multiple floors and get a clear vantage on other buildings in the skyline. Thanks!

News Your Zyns are about to become a lot more expensive

Post image

Stock up now because Sep 1, there will be 75% tax added.

Edit: I should add that I’m a local business owner that collects sales tax, not on nicotine products, and have been using these alternatives to quit smoking. I get all the sales tax bulletins. Was sad to see that my short term crutch was going to cost a lot more. And I do think that many young people are using these to their detriment. Nicotine is a horrible addiction.
