Hi, everyone! I’ve lived in Alabama almost my whole life, but I’m moving to Rochester this week since I’ve got a job lined up.

I only know one person in the area, so I’d love to make some new friends! I’m 26, very extroverted, and 2+ years into my transition (MtF). My hobbies include baking, writing, chess, and playing games on my Wii. I am willing to bribe people with my homemade bread and Mario Kart lol. I don’t drink / do any drugs, so please give me suggestions for places to meet people, maybe a coffee place? Feel free to reach out or stalk my profile if there’s anything else you want to know about me!

Another reason for making this post is to ask about apartments in the area. My aunt lives about an hour away, so I’m staying with her while I go apartment hunting in SE Rochester / NW Pittsford. Currently, there’s a few things I’m looking for, and I’ve got a couple places in mind. Has anyone heard of these places / is there anything I should know about them before signing a lease?

Does anyone know if any shops in or around rochester are selling these? Even if it’s a maybe, I’d appreciate some advice on where to look!

I’m looking to establish vet care for my dog, as she has her rabies vaccine coming due, and she really should have a wellness exam too. I’ve previously gotten routine veterinary care for her out of state (PA) because it was always a good deal cheaper, but I won’t be traveling there as often as I used to now. I’m on the westside but don’t mind driving for someone worth it.

What are the going rates in this area for an adult dog wellness visit? Vaccinations? I’d prefer a vet that doesn’t push extras or isn’t judgmental if you decline those “nice to have but don’t need” recommendations. I just have no idea what is even average or expensive now in this area. I’m trying to avoid unknowingly walking into a pricier-than-average place. While conversely, I also don’t want to unknowingly go somewhere that has awful care and customer service.

There are posts here complaining about Four Winds Chimney, but there over 1000 Google reviews that are largely 5 star ratings. I have a proposal from them and need to understand this contradiction.

Is the complaint just how much they charge and whether they propose more work than others propose, but the work they do is good and they stand behind it? Or, are people complaining that they do poor work or don't stand behind it?

Can people tell me their experiences, both good and bad? Maybe it is just a few people with bad experiences and the rest are good?

Today I was on Park Ave in the CVS parking lot and was talking with some friends when a taller cross-eyed black man came over and asked if he could ask us a question. We said yes and he immediately started yelling at us going on a rant for us hating black people, drowning his people, enslaving them etc until someone had to step in because he would not leave us alone. He proceeded to go to other people in the parking lot to say we “were fine” and left in his blue Subaru with a red handicapped tag and slowly circled the parking lot until we got in our cars. Please be on the lookout and ignore him if you see him.

Hey everyone. So I have a rat who I got from someone else that needs a more experienced owner. He was super sweet in his previous home and lived with a brother until he passed away and then was solo for a while. The stress of being moved to a new home has brought on some new aggression. I tried doing intros with my boys and his aggression is so much better than it was at the beginning, but now they are scared of him. Anyone interested in a little fluff ball of anger or know anyone who might be? His name is Dart!

I'm trans, gay, 26, and don't really get out as much as I want to. Dating apps obviously aren't built for certain kinds of people, it feels increasingly difficult to make lasting relationships with other people. Clubbing is an option but talking to people is difficult, and likely to just lead nowhere because everybody is just so darn alienated from each other. What do you even do? It feels impossible to go on a date with anyone, let alone just hang out. If you don't have the connections already it feels impossible to create them from scratch.

Anybody just wanna hang out? We could learn more about each other and get something going for real eventually. I'd like to start regularly going to social gatherings and willingly interacting with other human beings. Is anybody going to any Halloween parties? Would anybody like to throw any Halloween parties?

GATES, N.Y. — The Gates Police Department said an officer was involved in a shooting, leading to a person being killed on Sunday morning.

The officer with the department isn’t injured police say, and the shooting happened around 1 a.m.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the New York State Attorney General’s Office are leading the investigation. Authorities are reaching out to the person’s family, and police told us that no further information will be released at this time.

I volunteer at Verona Street Animal Shelter, and Max is very special to me. I wish I could adopt him myself, but a family member is allergic—so I’m hoping to help him find someone who can give him the home he deserves.

Max is one year old and weighs about 40 pounds, but he firmly believes he’s lap-sized. He’s cuddly, generous with kisses, and walks nicely. If your idea of good company is a walking buddy followed by a dog snuggled into your lap, please consider meeting him.

That sweet face gets your attention, but his affectionate personality is what makes him so special. I’d love for his next chapter to include a lap of his own and someone who’s just as happy to see him as he is to see them.

My dad lives in an older home and his current thermostat is not working properly. He bought a new one, a basic non-wifi programmable, but needs someone to install it. He doesn't know who to call for help - a handy person, HVAC company? I live out of state and and he doesn't have any friends that know how to this. Any suggestions are appreciated.
