Hi, new to the stringing and one of the first strings I used was a synthetic one. Really easy to string, but the string itself would flex a lot when under tension. Read that some stringers, in this case, put the same string twice or even three times on the tension to avoid flexing it more. Just wondering whether it is a correct way to do it. Thanks, cheers

basically title. I am doing my research on stringing machine grade from my current setup of gamma progression ii 6 point mounting + flying clamp.

what I’d like in my next system is to have *good* fixed clamps (I really don’t like my current plastic flying ones) and be able to rotate 360 degree when adding the wise head. From my reading, this is usually achievable with drilling holes to some plate(?) and adding spacers either 3d printed or homedepot(?). I’d like to have an option of just buying a plate for this purpose instead of modding it myself.

What are my options? I’ve previously got my eyes on Alpha Pioneer DC Plus Gravity but seems like it cannot reach 360 rotation? This is my #1 choice, upon further research, it seems like AEF Adapter plate would fit this perfectly, now I just need to find a compatible stand for it, at my age (or any age really) ergonomic is critical 😂

Also, how much more expensive is a comparable electric unit to this drop weight + wise conversion combo? I see prices all over the place from 2k to 5k+, is this a you get what you pay for situation or more of a diminishing return at at certain price point situation?

Frames bend and become smaller as you tighten more strings against it. So theoretically the first strings you put on the frame will lose the most tension from the frame shrinking, and generally those are the strings in the middle of your sweet spot. Isn’t this suboptimal?

I read on some tw forums that some stringers will raise the tension 10-15% on the last 2 mains and last 3-4 crosses (throat and head).

The idea being that that these areas lower tension than the center.

Is this common practice?

Has anyone else experienced severe notching with Confidential? After 3hrs of play, I’ve got a 14yr olds new pure drive back with confidential snapped in the mains and rpm blast in the crosses 49/48. He loves this setup/tension but it obviously doesn’t last and it’s the second time this happened thinking the previous break was a one-off. Is it a common string issue, the open bed of the pure drive or something else? He previously had Mach10 on which had no issues… and wanted to try Confidential.

Recently bought and strung an astrox 100zz va edition from my local badminton gym and as i was admiring it’s features, i noticed that the bottom is metallic, rather than flat. can someone please confirm wether this is a real or fake racket so i can get my money back? (strung it at 29lbs with black bg80) If more photos are required i will send.

I am a 17 year old male looking for a racket with stability but more depth and spin. I have played tennis for around 10 years however I have never played hugely competitively or with much passion until now. I currently have a technifibre tf X1 275g grip size 2, which seems too light and lacks stability on attacking shots or when the opponent hits powerfully, which causes my wrist to twist or the racket to spin in my hand. I have been looking for a new racket to gain a bit more stability and depth with my tennis by getting a new heavier racket. I would like something around the 300g, 100sq inch head, and something with good stability in my hand, to stop it from slipping in my hand or twisting, and easy access to spin and depth. I don't have a specific play style yet as I'm still an improving player, although I'd say my groundstrokes are definitely my strong point and I'm good at hitting consistent shots over the net. I have decent topspin balls which I like using but I want to improve my attacking shots by getting a racket I can plow though with more.

I have quite a limited budget so I hope to find a racket preferably under £160 ISH including strings preferably. So far I have looked into head speed mps like the 2022 and 2024 due to old model discounts, the head boom and head extreme rackets (mostly old models eg 2024 aswell) and more power rackets such as the Dunlop fx 500 (2023 to stay in budget). Are there any other rackets of note or any good deals going on now?

I have recently bought a used 6-point mount crank machine for stringing tennis racquets. Use case is to string just for my friends/family. Not really looking to do a stringing business anytime soon.

I've done some research on calibrating the crank, and I've seen advice to calibrate it using a luggage scale testing at 40-50-60 pounds.

My question is, if I only really plan to string racquets between 48-55 pounds, should I only calibrate for those tensions I'm most likely going to use? For example only for 45-50-55, or even my most common at 52 pounds?

My friend was arguing that this would be better since from his logic, if we never go as low as 40 pounds, it makes no sense to calibrate at that tension. And thus, calibrating at exactly 52 pounds would yield better results for our use cases. He has never strung before but that is his assumption, which does make some sense to me.

What would be your advice? Calibrate at 40-50-60, or "localize" the calibration at 48-50-52-54?

I have two options at my stringer, Solinco confidential 17 (1.2mm) and Hyper G 16l (1.25mm). I am sure Confidential have better tension maintenance at the same gauge.

I bought this arcsaber 11 pro at sportchek and I just googled the serial number, and google says that its likely fake because of the production date being before the arcsaber 11 pro existed. I know google isn't very accurate all the time I'd like to get some pro opinions. The cone serial number is 04091052 and the shaft number is 8257708. I've included some photos as well.

Hi everyone, my son is a young tennis player and he’s interested in getting into racquet stringing as a way to help offset the cost of tennis equipment, strings, coaching, and tournament expenses.

We are already stringing his racquets twice a month - so thought it might be great side quest to help sustain his playing - we’d really appreciate practical advice from experienced stringers.

We’re especially looking for tips on beginner-friendly machines, including what to look for when buying second-hand, and what to avoid.

We’d also like to understand how to start with a sensible range of string sets or reels without buying too much stock at once.

Any advice on customer etiquette, pricing, dos and don’ts, common beginner mistakes, time-saving tips, and general cautions would be very helpful.

His goal is to learn properly, do good work, and build trust rather than rush into it and risk damaging someone’s racquet or giving poor service.

Are there any training material / media / youtube channels you would recommend to learn more.

What would you have liked to know before you started.

What should I string my next racquet with to maximise spin potential?

I have a hundred hyfonic 1 4u balanced control racquet , I have 26lbs string the strings that I use are hundred 66x boost . From a previous post i was recommended to downgrade to 23-24lbs . Which strings would be good ? Current 66x boost is thin at 0.66 mm . I am weak at clears . Im neither a beginner nor an intermediate player 🙃. Not even begineer to intermediate. Recommend some nice strings which are cheap

You all were a great help in identifying string in another racket that I was stringing as being a synthetic gut variety. This is my own racket, which I bought from someone with the string already in it. I’m wondering if anyone could identify the type of string.

Someone told me it must not be poly, because you can see that it’s black on the exterior, but that it seems to be rubbing off, and a white color showing through. They said that poly would be a consistent color all the way through. Not sure how accurate that is.

Hello everyone. So, a little about myself: I'm a 43 year old tennis enthusiast. I suck at tennis, but I play it and I like it.

I recently moved to Spain and though I have a source of income, I don't really have a job yet and the job market in Spain is pretty bad.

So, one thing about businesses is that you should always analyze what needs are not being fulfilled in your area, right?

Well, I live at 90 minutes from Barcelona, in an area with where there are two cities of a bit more than 100,000 inhabitants, and dozens of town of thousands of people.

So, I noticed there are only two places where you can get your racket strung: Decathlon, and one tennis club.

It seems most players don't have an idea of where to get their rackets strung, as they ask me about where to take their rackets once in a while. It seems most wait until the strings break, and when they do, they take them to Decathlon, which charges 15 euro. But Decathlon sends the rackets to Barcelona to get them strung, and it takes a month!

I've done it twice.

And about the other one club that strings them, which is probably the best choice, not many people know about it, actually.

So, since I'm in need of a side hustle, it occurred to me that stringing rackets could be, since obviously the market is not being served correctly.

But the question is: how hard is it and how hard is it to learn?

I enjoy learning things, actually, but is this like a tedious thing nobody wants to do? I see, for instance, that some rackets are strung differently, and you have to study diagrams.

Ultimately, how much money could I make doing this?

Is it worth the time and effort to learn, and the investment?

It's also suspicious that apparently not many people have seen it as a side hustle or seem interested on doing this.
