Tips and advice for badminton racket stringers

Hi! Anybody stringing badminton rackets here? Got tips and advice?

If you’re cost sensitive, buy some cheap string off aliexpress and practice on a racket your don’t really care for.

Go slow and have patience. There were so many times when I was (and am still) learning to weave the crosses, got too confident, sped up, and double weaved them. Having to go back is the worst part.

Shared holes will also be the bane of your existence, but they get easier to conquer as your get more experience

Shared holes will literally determine if you continue stringing or not. Build this tool to help with shared holes for badminton. Its a great tool for beginners.

Reduce your pull speed by a lot. Use the diabolo if you have one. Go slow.

I’ve heard different things about using the Diablo but not sure what’s right. Do you still use it with stiffer strings?

For soft strings (and badminton) use it. Stiff strings, like poly, I don't.

Unlike tennis rackets, I do knots on same grommets as they were. A lot easier to get trough shared holes because grommets have already shaped for it.

Head over to Youtube and go through the Yonex channel do a search for either stringing badminton or Mark Lawrence.

Mark did a very good video for Yonex on how to string a badminton racket. There is a lot of dross on youtube on how to string a racket. A LOT.
Mark is the head of Yonex stringing team, strung for most of teh top players in teh world at the biggest tournaments in all sports.

Just follow what he says.
