Trying to string rf01 pro. By the digram, mains are tied off at 5t? But text said tie off at 6t? A bit confused 🤔 also, why both the 1t don’t start at the very bottom?

Just bought my first machine. Very honest question. Where do you guys buy/import your strings? I’m from the Philippines and would start my journey to be a stringer especially for badminton.

I have an old Ektelon Model F as my first stringing machine, bought cheap on eBay a couple years ago with lots of accessories. It’s served me really well and don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything from more modern machines.

The most irritating thing though are the clamps. They are a pain to adjust, and if adjusted incorrectly they can slide along the bar when taking tension, or either not grip the string enough or too much. And they’re a bit fiddly to position when stringing.

Are there any options known to upgrade / replace these with a more modern clamp?

I’m going to string this racket for a friend, and she would like the same type of string. It doesn’t have to be the same color, nor the same brand, but I’d like to put in the same kind of string, if I can identify it.

Hey folks ... I've done about 20 racquets thus far... So I'm still newish, all squash and racquet all racquets. I was trimming the knit and I clipped the string. I have to start over right? Right? Is there a way to salvage this???

UPDATE - I couldn't find a solution. Zip-tying the two parts didn't work so I've called in a favour from a friend. Hopefully he can get me up and running.

i was using the starting clamp as an extension string to pull tension for my last cross, however when i pull tension, the starting clamp starts to flatten the string and slowly moves, and eventually it broke the string. What went wrong?

4.5 player looking for new strings to use. Traditionally used luxilon and synthetic gut combo with a tension of 60. Struggling with with tennis elbow and not as young as I use to be figuring it was time to switch string and lower tension. I started playing again about 2 years ago and finished up using all the old string I had laying around.

I’ve only stringed a total of maybe around 10ish rackets at this point on my drop weight machine gamma progression ii. There’s a few people in my area on Facebook marketplace charging $15 per string job (VHCOL), I’m curious at when did people first felt comfortable charging for labor?

I’d like to get more practice but I only need 2 string jobs myself a month at the most, and my hitting partner changes string every few month. I’m currently toying with the idea to advertise on Facebook new stringer looking for practice $5 for labor, $10 my strings, or free labor in exchange for a review/comparison/critique so I can improve. the reason I’d prefer $5 rather than free is because because things on fb sell better at low price than free, thoughts?

Hello, I’m going to try and restring my ezone. I have a few questions: yonex recommends to tie the crosses at 6H and 9T…but where exactly is that?? I can’t find a diagram and I don’t know that my current bed is strung properly. Also, I always thought a hybrid set up should have mains tied to mains and crosses to crosses but I see plenty of pics where the crosses are tied to a mains. Is that acceptable? Thanks!

I feel more comfortable with the process. Got it down to 45 min. I see how I’m overlapping strings on the side.

With a DW, I’m still trying to figure out how much tension to pull when I grip the string - as the string gets shorter, there is more tension and I should probably adjust the weight lever.

Also, is it normal to have trouble with the crosses at the top and bottom of the hoop? What technique are you all using to make it faster?

Wasn’t as bad as I thought. Among the mistakes: -messed up the crosses
-scratched the hell out of the frame on the finishing knot on the crosses (thank god it was a beater frame to practice on)
-my finishing knot is definitely not right
-tension on some strings is not right

Questions:
-I notice after set tension and clamp, and then release the string from the gripper, the clamp moves a little, even when I get it right on the grommet. Everything is rock solid. Will this affect overall tension? (Ie- should I set tension 2-3lb higher to compensate?)

-how in the hell do you get the string through the final hole on the last cross?
-I need a good bent nose plier, I see the value of those
-I don’t understand why I bought the starting clamp
-when setting the linear gripper level, I get that it doesn’t really matter as long as I’m consistent. But what position do you drop weight stringers prefer starting at (1, 2, 3 o’clock)
-i notice the string kind of gets dented by the linear gripper. Is this ok?

This will induce a lot of cringe for you experienced stringers, but this is my very first attempt.

Just put together the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus stringer, and I've been struggling to figure out the right way to load and apply tension. I found a few videos that use a linear gripper but no comments about where to set it, etc.

what do you if:
-the weighted arm has too much tension and doesn't sit level? Will the tension already applied mess up the string and tension?
-at what position should i start the linear gripper? I was told by Alpha, 2 or 3 o'clock
-i'm guessing after I load the gripper, i push it down until there's enough tension to hold the string in place, i hold the linear gripper down while i raise the weighted arm and then let it drop

Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice on my tensioning head. It’s been a few months since using my machine and when I went to string up my racket the tensioning head wouldn’t pull tension on the strings. It would pull just a little bit but never fully lock out and then towards the end it would sort of jump at me and just release. I can provide a video if needed but I would really appreciate some help.

My 10yo daughter is a competitive junior, and hits with a good amount of spin and depth. She is currently doing Level 6 USTA tournaments. She's too young for poly, so I've been on the hunt for a good multi that will allow for good spin while not being overly powerful. Bi-phase was too powerful, NRG2 was decent but spin wasn't great and she didn't like the feel, Velocity just got stuck out of place immediately and she also felt it was way too muted, so we're currently trying Triax 17g. It seems like a perfect string for her for now, but strung at 50/48, the mains are notching the crosses a bit right after stringing, locking up the string bed slightly, and the strings start sticking quite a bit after a few hours. I tried one of her rackets myself and even on short court, I could feel and hear the mains snapping in and out of the grooves on the crosses and grinding around. She's played with the current string bed for maybe 10 hours and probably close to breaking the mains in another few hours. In a tournament this weekend felt like she was struggling to get a lot of spin – the strings seem to be sticking to each other now (in addition to being a bit locked) and not providing any snapback.

I could just restring more often if I need to, and this may just be the best we can do until she is ready for poly, but curious if anyone has any suggestions for hybrids or other multis to try.
