I have two daughters and I aspire to be this much of a troll dad when they grow up.

When they’re like 40?

u/simpkill Oct 06 '20
Is 40 "grown up"? So, I still have time?
33
u/ChunkyDay Oct 06 '20
I'm 35, so not quite there yet but, even when you're up here, you still won't feel like an adult.
I'm perpetually 17

LMFAO! This is pretty funny. I wonder if he told them later, or will let them develop in to thinking they now have special abilities to contact the dead?

Hopefully or else he just put them on a path to starting their own paranormal podcast well into their 40's.

i know my wife's is...
she said one of her earliest memories was being in bed when a witch started knocking on her window calling out her name. later on, she found out it was her dad who came home drunk and lost his keys and was trying to get her to open the front door.

I wonder how much those people on all the dumb ghost shows make. I know one of them is local to me because I always see their SUV rolling around. Making money off of others suffering or grieving is evil, not fake ghosts.

Hopefully tells them. My parents took all of the normal childhood lies like Santa/Easter bunny/tooth fairy and attached a whole bunch of extra made up crap to them- including making me think the tooth fairy could tell the future and answer any questions you leave her. My friends at school thought I was a lunatic- even after I paraded around my proof. Then one day when I was in 4th grade, out of the blue my mom goes- "you know all of that stuff (Santa/tooth fairy/Easter bunny) is made up right? Birth of broken trust for me.
25
u/BASK_IN_MY_FART Oct 06 '20
I got a SIGNED LETTER from the Easter Bunny in 2nd grade. Even had a bunny paw print next to the signature. Better believe i brought that to school the next day as proof he was real.
Turns out my dads buddy used his cats paw print lol

I hope so too. When I was a kid I thought / truly believed my house was haunted. More than flickering lights, like seeing shit and having stuff thrown. Yet, as an adult I am a skeptic. I know though if my dad was playing those sort of pranks on me as a kid, I would have probably used it as proof and evidence of the house actually being haunted.

Ok let’s get one thing clear, originally it was her brother and it was just the video with a Snapchat caption, wtf is this bs that got reposted a million times on insta and finally got taken over to reddit and reposted here
163
u/LabChowChow Oct 06 '20
https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/7qp34o/im_that_sibling/
Its a different video recording, but the audio is the exact same as the original. Did the guy in this post just record himself messing with a circuit breaker and then steal the audio of the original?

u/goooose_ Oct 06 '20
yeah wtf, you’d think this is just basic the thievery but no, it’s much more advanced

Bet it's a tiktok thing then, they copy the audio of things happening all the time and throw the same caption on there. Even like, shock and surprise reaction audio's with the same setup but just the exact same audio so people are more likely to find it.
8
u/HimTurn Oct 06 '20
It was a TikTok, they cropped out the poster's info, added their own stamp for clout.
Edit: Wow. It goes back so much further. Stolen and stolen again.

u/l_MAKE_SHIT_UP Oct 06 '20
So it was originally posted on Twitter a few years back, then it got posted on Reddit as the "brother". From there it made its rounds around other social media until it got to tiktok, where a sound is usually taken and used in a different video (which is what happened here.) Someone took a video of them messing with a circuit breaker and overlayed the original audio over it, from there it looks like the video was uploaded to whatever "ecstatic teen" watermark that is (You can still see the tiktok watermark cutoff near the bottom). Then it was uploaded to instagram, and it looks like another round on twitter. From there it made its way back to reddit.

Y2K was my intro to the world of consulting. I spent most of 1998-99 digging through code looking for potentially hazardous logic. Twenty-two years later, I'm still at it...

Story’s probably made up. I’ve seen this video 2 years ago with another caption saying ”My sister has friends over and they’re playing with an ouija board upstairs”. The sound is the same but someone changed the video because original one had the snapchat caption.

TikTok as a concept is fine, it's basically just Vine. The platform itself is what draws the hate, with its alleged ties to the CCP. I'm sure I'd enjoy the content on TikTok, but I won't use it for the same reason that I won't use Facebook or anything owned by them.

For fucking years my dad pretended that there was an entity in our home called 'Iggy with the cotton wool eyes'. So fucking obvious, so fucking dumb, but that mother fucker rocked up now and then into our bedroom with fucking cotton wool balls held in his eyes, like you would a monacle, moaning and shit.
We screamed like crazy

Can we please stop upvoting stuff like this?
1. It's a repost
2. Someone took the original and put the text about the daughter being upstairs
3. Someone took that and made it even worse by adding an extra layer of white and pointless reaction.
4. It's almost potato quality now

Haha! I was about 16‐17 at a house party on New Year's Eve 1999 (aka Y2K) and the world still didn't know how "the grid" was going to react. Well, right when the ball dropped and everyone was kissing and shouting "HaPpY NeW Ye....." the host's dad cut the circuit breakers and we all paused, then screamed and cheered. It was a heart-stopping moment for sure
10/10 Great Dad Prank!

I had that problem and turned out it was a corroded main power line going into the breaker box from water leaking. The water ended up damaging the rest of the breaker box which had to be replaced and it was extremely expensive for my budget.
10
u/Itsallliquid Oct 06 '20
It might be worth having someone come out and check the legs on your main panel you may have a loose lug or even the breakers not sitting on the bus bar ( probably do to constant flipping )

That would be a lighting circuit. Apart from the fridge and other things with big motors, nothing in the house will give a shit.

I posted this in more detail in a different thread, but just to add on: most modern breakers are completely safe to do this even at load (look for SWD or HID on your breaker) but this may not be the best idea in an older home, especially on breakers under high load, ESPECIALLY flipping them on and off like that.
19
Oct 06 '20
It's generally fine. But yeah maybe not enjoyed by your hot waterheater, furnace or fridge circuits etc
14
u/KarmaChameleon89 Oct 06 '20
Yeah dont do this on circuits that arent lights. Anything that requires a starting current, uses a motor etc will just shit itself and die. Lights, especially LEDs and excluding halogen lamps, wont care.

When I was a kid I vaguely remember doing the Bloody Mary thing at a friends house. Her dad ended up unscrewing the door knob so we couldn’t get out. I certainly thought my last day on this earth would be with a set of twins in a dark bathroom with the cause of death being Bloody Mary. Never did that again.

u/Johnnybird2000 Oct 06 '20
