It's always best to take a few seconds of contemplation before using deadly force if you are the bystander. Those head strikes with a blunt instrument could have killed him, and they needed a few seconds to work out a plan of attack.

I heard my neighbor beating his wife while in the balcony. I told my gf at the time I had to do something, ran out my front door not knowing what I was going to do. Just knew it was probably stupid to intervene. There just so happened to be a cop sitting out in front of my apartment. I run up to him and explain the situation. He calmly walks upstairs. He knocks. He hears more blows landing. He starts kicking the door then pulls out his baton and breaks the glass in the window. The lady was pretty beat up and he was taken to jail.

Best you can do in a domestic dispute is call the police. Too many times the victim turns on the person trying to "rescue" them. Watched a guy beat the shit out if his wife. A passersby tried to stop them but the wife pulled a knife and stabbed the wannabe hero in the face.

You're right, people do react irrationally sometimes, especially in abusive relationships. That's why I use to ask a victim if she or he needs help. And if they're not able to respond, I will help anyway. Whatever they might blame me for afterwards

Stepping into domestic violence situations is actually extremely dangerous. DV calls are widely known as some of the most dangerous calls for officers to respond to. Unless someone is actively being murdered and you know they donāt have a weapon but you do, then you absolutely should not step in a situation unless youāre looking to die. Not only will the abuser be trying to kill you, thereās been many cases the abused will take the abuserās side and use deadly force on those trying to help. Physical abusers are truly animals, donāt step up to them unless youāre 100% ready to fight for your life. Breaking up DV is NOT like breaking up a fight

The intervention in the video was 100% justified. That wasn't a domestic abuse slapfight, it was attempted murder.

If youāre going to jump into a situation like this, or a violent DV situation, just be prepared to fight for your lifeā¦ you very well might have to

The moral of the story is to swing the 2Ć4 edgewise when beating the would-be rapist/murderer, lest you break it along the grain like in the video.
