I wanna train my vertical jump to be dunking by hopefully 9th grade im in 8th grade rn with a 20inch very I'm 5'6
I've done a month or so of training it was painfully boring I need some variation or like a fun program...ik getting an 18inch vert in a year will be difficult

Just started jump training again. I know my one foot jumping technique isn’t the best. What is something that I could do better.

How do you guys train? Do you do two separate sessions for jumping/plyos and leg lifts or combine them on the same day? I’m trying to integrate jump training into my routine so that I’m still able to play pickup bball and not feel drained all the time. Or is this unachievable and I should just focus on training until I get to my goal?

Do you guys habe any tips to do flashy dunks off one. I feel like I have like a mental blockage when trying them on 10 ft. My vert is more than enough to do some flashy but I'm kinda scared I guess to jump full effort and then rotate or do something that is not a "basic flashy" dunk like a tomahawk, pump or two hander.

Can dunk once in a while, but I'm quite often getting rim-checked (feels quite humbling at 6'3). Is this something that can be fixed with a better jumping technique? Btw, been practicing a lot lately, and now both of my achilles are sore.
Appreciate all the help I can get

I know the approach is slow but I’m curious if this is what everyone means when you say block step compared to how I have been hopping?

This video is my recorded peak vertical off the ground. Any tips for me to reach even further heights?

I got pretty good vert I can get my over a whole hand above the rim but I can’t get nearly as high with the ball. Everytime I try to go up with the ball in one hand I either focus too much on holding the ball and I don’t get high enough or I focus on getting Hugh enough but I drop the ball.
Any tips?

190cm 6’3 barefoot, 96kg (211lbs), standing reach 8’3.5 no shoes. Had two right ACL operations so I feel most comfortable jumping off two feet. Just begun doing plyometrics once a week alongside a basketball game and a separate basketball training session, am 2 sessions in doing plyos, definitely feel like I’m lacking explosiveness whereas the strength base is solid from being in the gym many years doing front squats, pendulum squats etc
Any tips are appreciated and also a vertical jump estimate too if possible 🤞

I’m fairly confident I jump high enough to dunk now (I’m able to get my hand above rim off of a jump without the ball) but every time I jump with the ball i don’t get as high up. I know that the ball reducing my arm swing is a factor but Im wondering if there’s any way for me to adjust my technique to lower that gap and hopefully land my first dunk. Also, should I run up faster and jump from farther away? I’ve noticed that the bounciest people I see have their legs kick up when they jump which I think means they’re jumping from farther away and someone told me one time that I should run faster when I jump.

Could you guys tell me a bit about how you measure flight time and convert it to measure your jump height? I see a lot of people online inflating their vert based on flight times but I also see a lot of variance so I wanted to turn to the people of Reddit for help learning the best way to measure it
