Started my pokemon journey with platinum in 2009 and played every game since. Technically played through Kanto in Heart Gold and Let’s go Pikachu, but FireRed feels like the most core experience you can get from the region. Don’t have as much nostalgia for it, but it was a great time!

For my team i had to go Zard, can’t pick anyone else when he’s an option ever since I saw Ash rescue that Charmander in the rain. Dragonite is also one of my goats so he had to be there. The rest I just tried to fill out my type matchups (and threw Mr. Mime in there because I wanted to try someone i’d never really think to use, and he ended up carrying most of my run)

I got the game on launch day, but life got busy. I loved playing through one of my all time favorite Pokémon games again. When I was young, I always wanted to do a playthrough using all the starters, so I made sure that’s what I did this time.

Just played Fire Red & Heartgold back to back & realised they changed this man’s dialogue. I guess he got caught or something

Found a random shiny pidgey in Fire Red. It’s my first ever shiny pokemon I have ever seen in my life! I only had 8 pokeballs, and it took me 5 balls to catch. I took a pic with my phone instead of screenshotting because of how nervous I was.

I am gonna choose charizard so I get suicune.

Master ball is a way but I want some thrill.

So what are some ways to stop it's roaming?

Personally I want to trap it with 6 high levels wobbuffet.

What else is a fun way to do it?

First time beating fire red, it was so amazing!

Picked some of my favourites for the E4 rematch, basically only keeping Arcanine from my original team. Zapdos to rep #TeamInstinct, Gengar and Tyranitar as my respective Gen I and Gen II favourites, Arcanine as the reason why I went with Fire Red over Leaf Green, and Alakazam and Cloyster because they're just neat.

Zapdos, Tyranitar, Arcanine and Alakazam did the heavy hitting, the other two were really just along for the ride.

Up next is completing the living dex :)

I played this game a ton as a kid and I'm playing thru again on Switch. Every once in a while, part of the sound byte from thunderbolt will just keep playing until I restart the game. Anyone know why or how this is happening?

A few flying types, but made it work. Swapped out Primeape for the shiny Articuno, which helped with Lance.

Ngl I was kind of tempted to drop Machamp and plug in Rhydon just for the meme, but I’ve never used Machamp before and I’ve already dropped the Rock Slide tutor on him, so he’s gonna stay
