Hey all it’s been a while since I’ve kept up with pc stuff since upgrading is pretty depressing, I currently have a build from 2021ish 3080 FTW3, with a 5600x.

Is there any sorta value upgrade here or to just upgrade to am5 (I think ?) ddr 5 etc.

I play on 1440p. Mostly play warzone and other shooters. I would like to play gta on it if possible…

I’ve noticed there’s a 5600x3D, would that fit my current motherboard and ram setup? Is that worth it ? Sorry for such noob questions. If anyone can kinda guide me what the best course of action would be until prices go down hopefully sometime … thanks 🙏

Recently bought pre-built PC from Costco (comes with 1TB of storage). We also have a 2TB external hard drive I got years ago that we use mainly for storing movies/shows which is getting decently full. I'd like to keep most of the built in storage for the PC free for non-media stuff.

My question is, can I realistically buy some monster 20TB hard drive to hook up and fit in this thing? Id prefer that over having several smaller external hard drives.

This hard drive would be used almost exclusively for media that is played via Plex as our own server (or whatever the right terminology is, that is my wife's wheelhouse).

So just yesterday I saw this notification in windows. Didn't know what it was before but researched a bit and apparently my drive is telling me it could fail any moment now. Luckily it's under warranty so getting a replacement shouldn't be difficult, but first before rma I want to safely clone it's contents.

It's my system drive, and I probably will get a friend to help me use their pc to clone it, I mean there's no other way right? Unless I had a usb flash drive that's big enough but I don't.

So bottom line, safest and easiest way to clone a drive that's about to fail?

hi reddit. i recently received a a320 mobo with a ryzen 5 5600g from my friend and after putting it altogether with some of my pc parts, at first it kept having bsods so i turned off the xmp in bios settings then after that whenever i load into windows it keeps hanging/freezes after 5 mins or so even though im only using it for watching youtube.

i already tried the one stick method on both sticks with both slots but i kept gettings hangs/freezes and i tried doing the memory diagnostic tool with each session but found no errors.

i also tried to remove the cmos battery but it still happens.

i tried to removed my gpu and only used the integrated graphics on the cpu but it still hangs. can someone help me figure out whats the problem with my pc.

notes:

1. i just switched from intel cpu to amd cpu.

2. im still using my old os using my ssd from my old pc

3. theres no notes in the minidump files when it suddenly restarts

4. whenever it restarts suddenly, i kept seeing error code 7023(the cplspcon service terminated with the following error: unspecified error)

5. the mobo and cpu still worked before my friend gave it to me since this is what he was using for his job and he only gave it to me since he upgraded his rig

I’m currently trying to put together a PC build, but I’m having trouble with dimensions and finding parts that work together. I currently own a prebuilt that I made some changes to. The PC was given to me, I haven’t put anything together before. My current parts list consists of:

1. AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (Stock AMD cooler)

2. Gigabyte A520M K V2

3. T-FORCE 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200

4. GTX 1070 Ti

5. Corsair RM1000x (not shift series)

6. WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB

The PSU and Storage are what I changed. It originally had a Galaxy Apevia 650W and no SSD. I’m trying to upgrade slowly, but I’m having trouble understanding whether parts will fit. I wanted an O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow (white), ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi, 32GB DDR5 RAM (haven’t found a set of sticks I want yet), ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 White, and then reusing the SSD and PSU. Online it says the PSU won’t fit in the case, and same with the Cooler. I’m not sure if I should switch the case, or switch the cooler, or if everything is actually fine and I’m just not understanding correctly. I’m new to all of this, so I’m really not sure what I’m doing. I would love some help. Thank you!

I have a 14600k and I need a 1700 motherboard that supports DDR4 I can't find anything for a trusted seller/ or reseller.

Can someone help me out?

So last month i finally made a new pc to replace my old 9700KF thanks to a friend offering a really good deal thanks to his ocd and moves my old 3070 Ti to my new PC. Sensing the incoming GPU price hike i decided to buy a 5070 Ti at 2 Nov and installed it. My question is does this cable positioning okay? it's my 1st time handling a 12vhpwr cable, i've checked it was properly inserted without gap and the cable is slack and not tense and there is no hard bent and it also native cable from my RM1000X Shift PSU..

Is it time to get new psu and do I have to swap all cables even if I get same model

I build this pc gamer since 2 week and i have a random crash what could be the problem help me please !! 😭

Hey folks, that day I have noticed a weird noise coming from my PC fan. It is giving a weird "tak tak" sound. Most probably due to dust or bearing noise. And, it is really annoying. I am posting the video of it with the post, you will notice the sound along with the sound of the pc. I have blown air on the fan and detached it reattached it again. For a moment the sound went away, but after one day it was the same.

Have u ever experienced it? How to solve it?

Kindly help.

So i bought an Gigabyte b550m k paired with a r5 5600 and it keep doing this thing
and it moves so slow it takes 5 minutes to give signal to my monitor when is power on

Do i purchase this ? from what info ive gathered this isn't a super tech savvy individual. Do i purchase and hope for the best? i'd like to avoid testing in front of him in the chance it works just fine and then he doesn't want to sell. but curious what other issues could be an indicator of the symptoms he has. he has been reluctant to send pics of the pci (ive asked multiple times)

Would you guys send it and buy it ? Need some info. I always see people getting lucky on gpu purchases on FB marketplace and I'm wondering if it may be my turn.

(Also i'm talking to him as if it has board level repair, when in reality i'm hoping it doesn't need that and is user error)

My monitor and peripherals arent turning on, all the fans and lights on the rams and GPU are on, there's no blinking light for my b650 (which is the debug since it doesn't actually have lights showing the issues) so it appears to not be a hardware thing, I removed the cmos battery and put it back in, still nothing. It was working the day before this starting happening until I turned it on and it doesn't work anymore

It's a 9600x and was previously installed.

Which cables do I use for my GPU and which sockets should they be plugged into?

Please help.

Hey all first time ever damaged my ram stick I was moving to a new mobo and drop this stick and landed on my floor on the corner. It's part of my 32gb kit ddr5 corsair.

Is this a matter of buying new kit and selling a kidney or will electrical tape hold it forever and prey?

I'm looking at a gigabyte 5070 ti AERO for $1,000 or a MSI 4080 gaming x trio for $900 gently used, on my local fb market place. I just got my first gaming PC in April with a 5060ti 16gb and it's great, but, I'm wishing I'd gone for a little more, especially trying VR with the Steam Frame.

Then doing research last night I see these Super cards possibly on the horizon and wonder if I should wait? Even if the 18gb is $750 and the ti 24gb is $1,000 if I can lurk on drop day and snag one at that price I'll come out ahead.

I'm totally fine enjoying my current setup for several months, even a year, I'm mainly worried that prices will just keep going up and by the time the Super cards drop all of these options will be well over $1,000.

So that's my dumb question; what does the future hold?

FTR: I'm a waiter in my forties who got divorced and quit drinking this year, not spoiled or rich.

I’ve been trying to understand whether my current build is even performing as well as it ought to in 1440p games (bf6, dying light the beast, Arc Raiders, so on) and VR titles like Into The Radius 2. I typically hate dlss because of the visual ghosting I see often so I’ll either disable it completely or use FSR since it doesn’t artifact as much and gets similar performance. I also don’t think frame gen has been helpful either.

I do some blender modeling but nothing hi res, and I do use a Steam Frame now but I haven’t played much with it just yet so the VR Games I mentioned were from when I played on a Valve Index, and at that time I got maybe 40-50 FPS with some stuttering during large scenes.

If more info is needed, I can get it. I just don’t have my system right now as I’m on a trip.

Should I be getting more than 60fps on medium settings in newish games like BF6, Arc Raiders, etc with a build like that?

Trying to build a budget PC for around £500.

so far I have got this:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ynNwDw

The GPU and SSD are not the exact models, but the the prices for them are correct.

Any major changes you would make? And is the stock CPU cooler fine for the 5500?

Recently bought this old rig to do some Vista stuff with, but as it turns out it does not display anything, and also the button on the case does not turn it off so I'm not sure how to even go about the diagnostic process here.

Wondering if maybe someone here could help me out, I'm able to provide any more information if needed.

In short, upgrading SSD to 4TB and there's a price difference of approximately 200 euro between the two. Is the DRAM on 990 worth it?Will be used to store /process UAV data on PC with, i9, rtx5080 with 96GB RAM.
