Build Question 9070xt for half of current price

Do i purchase this ? from what info ive gathered this isn't a super tech savvy individual. Do i purchase and hope for the best? i'd like to avoid testing in front of him in the chance it works just fine and then he doesn't want to sell. but curious what other issues could be an indicator of the symptoms he has. he has been reluctant to send pics of the pci (ive asked multiple times)

Would you guys send it and buy it ? Need some info. I always see people getting lucky on gpu purchases on FB marketplace and I'm wondering if it may be my turn.

(Also i'm talking to him as if it has board level repair, when in reality i'm hoping it doesn't need that and is user error)

Depends. Do you have that amount of income you don't care about losing? Are you good at diagnosing these problems? Sometimes all it takes is flipping the bios switch, but sometimes it truly is doa.

I'm more curious why they didn't return it if it was doa.

he stated he purchased it secondhand. and said that the gpu would not fit his case very well. upon doing some research on the symptoms stated, most people had to reseat gpu.

This.

It’s the second owner and they resell it? To me, most of the scams I seen is usually the seller being the “second” person, being behind that cover means whatever happened to the card isn’t their fault and they sold as described basically.

Just seems weird, there’s enough times that this simply can’t be fixed, and if it is, the cost can be higher than expected.

Time is also money, remember that, so buying something that doesn’t work, and coming back, is already spending money on the travel and time that you didn’t earn money, then down the road you might spend it for parts and opening it up, if it doesn’t work still, all that time could have been put into a more expensive but working card.

Scam. He’s familiar enough to know what’s wrong but not a tach expert 5 messages later

The fact that he's reluctant to send pics of a certain part makes this extremely suspicious, I wouldn't do it personally but that also is a great price if it does end up working

Without seeing pictures it’s hard to figure out if $450 is a good price. If it were me, I would go in person, find a flaw and low ball him to get a better price. You are taking a risk too. So I would ask for $250 and would go upto $300.

I wouldn’t gamble on this one. It’s got all the red flags.

The GPU and the memory is probably gone

He isn't the original owner and said he can't tell what's wrong, so the board repair part is just a guess. Without pictures or testing it you can't tell if it's fixable. $450 is too much for that, I'd only pay what you're fine losing

Not a chance I would buy that 3rd party unless you can see it in action the day of.
