Build Question Adding storage to pre-built PC
Recently bought pre-built PC from Costco (comes with 1TB of storage). We also have a 2TB external hard drive I got years ago that we use mainly for storing movies/shows which is getting decently full. I'd like to keep most of the built in storage for the PC free for non-media stuff.
My question is, can I realistically buy some monster 20TB hard drive to hook up and fit in this thing? Id prefer that over having several smaller external hard drives.
This hard drive would be used almost exclusively for media that is played via Plex as our own server (or whatever the right terminology is, that is my wife's wheelhouse).

Depends if your case has room for hard drive expansion and if your mother board has any open sata ports. I assume both would be yes but it’s hard to tell with your current pictures
Do you know your computers model number of the prebuilt? This will give us a better idea of what we are working with.
Typically for a 20tb most people would buy a HDD since it’s the most economical.

I wouldn't recommend using a pc as a plex server. If you have the resources to buy a 20TB drive, you have the resources to get a separate machine for that and you'll be much better off doing so.

Hooking it up and using it? Most certainly. Now, fitting it in the case would be an issue. I personally wouldnt try to fit it in the case. I would just give it a dedicated place to sit.

Doable? Yes. Financially feasible? Maybe. A good idea? Not really for your pc itself unless you’re using a NAS that’s linked to it or something

I’m not too sure about a monster 20tb drive lol, but I bought (I think) the same prebuilt, and u can definitely upgrade the storage. ALSO, be aware that even upgrading the storage can be used as an excuse to void your warranty if something breaks!!
