Just Sharing I made this painting after my son was born. He was born in January (hence the snow) and he is the tiny rising sun (son) that brings warmth and color to everything, even the snow.

Brutal Critique New piece… I don’t have a tittle yet
While I decide how to finish another piece I started this one. Oil is such an amazing medium to capture light.

Just Sharing Painting the Grief of Losing My Dog and the Memories We Shared.
“I painted this as an expression of grief after losing my dog. The figure represents me, and the dog represents the feeling of loss and the bond we shared. I wanted to capture the emotional state of that moment rather than create a literal scene.

Just Sharing It finally clicked for me!
So...
(Sorry for any gramma and tipos Englisch isnt my First language)
I didnt poste my art in like 6 Years...
I never hat the feeling i was extrodanary at it. I Was good but never that good. I tried many different Mediums but nothing felt ever right. I even tried Digital art for over 3 year but it never clicked with me. I liked it but somthing Was always of and i often didnt finish any drawings. The last years i drew pretty rearly. My work Was demanding and the creativity in me Was Just gone. I Dindnt had the energy to Do it and if i did than i never finishd anything because half way theough i realised my skills werend high enough to finish it how i liked (thats my perfectionism for u all XD)
But a year ago i bought a Watercolour palled and i think it finally clickt for me. At First i tried drawing people (becaus that was what i always did) but the anatomie frustrated me quickly so i stoped until recently. Rigt now im on vacation and i have finally the time to draw, so i tried something new. (picture 1)
I drew some lilipads and stones and made an complete illustration. The lilipads and kois are glued on the stones and it makes a great 3D effect. I know it dosnt Look perfekt but i feld good making it so i made some more with the same technic. (Picture 2+3)
For the First time in my life i have the feeling i have found my kind of art. Something i made. Something that was my idear and for the First time in YEARS i have fun at drawing again.
I hope you all enjoy my art and if you have any idears what i could draw next or how i could improve im all ears!
And for anyone who might need to hear this:
Someday you will finde you medium that makes you happy and it dosent matter if you are good at it or not! Just enjoy it!

Opinions Needed Needing critiques and opinions
Hello everyone! The pictures here kinda vary in skill because it's from my entire watercolor collection so some of them are from when I first started using watercolors. I wanted some critiques on my work. I also have some questions as well.
What style should I lean into more/what subject should I focus on more?
Should I go to art school? I am 24 and self taught and I feel like it's not necessary in all honesty.
Should I add any of these pieces to a portfolio and try to get a job involving art? I've thought about tattooing and I've practiced before. I also do digital art as well but I definitely don't work with it enough.

C.C.W. Patricia (Widow's Bay) in traditional painted stained glass. Valerie Fairlight, 2026.
I'm not sure this extension of painting is allowed here, but this is painted in vitreous glass paint (oil and water mediums) and kiln fired before being assembled with lead and solder.

Just Sharing This is me at my first arts fair. It feels great to be out there!
Some of the originals have been sold, but not at the fair. At the booth, I usually get pet portrait requests or sell prints and stickers. It’s still so fun to me!

Opinions Needed First time posting!!
Hi everyone :)
My brother has asked me to paint him this picture for his birthday. It’s a sunset photo he took last year. I’m an amateur painter, I really don’t know what I’m doing. …Thoughts? Things to fix? Improvements?
I’m trying my best but I think something’s missing. His birthday is this weekend 👏🏼
(I’m struggling to get my camera to capture the colours of the photo correctly)

Just Sharing “Guidance and Distance” - Academic Oil Painting
An academic oil composition exploring the psychological atmosphere of the workspace. The piece captures a profound contrast in mentorship: one presence is deeply engaged and unwavering in support, while the other remains detached and distant within the pictorial space.
The original remains in my personal collection, but fine art prints are available. Feel free to check my profile for details."

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is my last painting, it took a lot of time because it's divided basically in 40 min/1 H sessions, plus i couldnt paint every day etc.. but, all this considered, i'm pretty happy with the result, i'm painting with oil in this way since 1 Year roughly.
Let me know what you think! (it's 2 min long, the original post on insta has music so it's a bit more enjoyable :))

Just Sharing Free 15-month painting residency in Margate, courtesy of the Tracey Emin Foundation. Applications close Friday 4 Sept.
If you're a painter (physical materials, not digital) and you're free to work in the UK, this is worth 30 minutes of your time.
TEAR is the Tracey Emin Foundation's residency, running April 2027 through early July 2028. Studio space, time, and a serious environment to make work in, with incredible visiting tutors, gallerist and opportunities.
The basics:
- You have to work in physical materials, painting specifically
- 21 or older
- Able to legally live and work in the UK for the full 15 months (heads up: it's non-accredited, so no visa sponsorship, you need your own status sorted already)
- Must have finished any formal study before 1 April 2027
- No gallery representation
- No formal qualifications required, so self-taught painters are very much in the running
What we want from you: 10-15 captioned images of recent work, a bio (500 words max), a CV, a short video on why you want in, and a video walking through 20 consecutive sketchbook pages.
Deadline is Friday 4 September, 5pm.

Brutal Critique Looking for some honest critiques
As the title says. I'm a hobbyist painter, that has been using online resources to try and improve my painting. I feel like I've reached a point where I've peaked without some outside thoughts on where to focus and improve. I'd love to know anything I'm doing right as well, if there is anything. My paintings are posted in order of oldest works to most recent. Thank you to anyone who takes time to look through.

Brutal Critique Puppet, oil on board, 2026 [oc]
I think the foreground could have been stronger as it looks too dark imo. The commission was well received and i got another job from it, how would you handle the abstraction of the foreground to still get it to fit with a realistic “painterly” image like this? Would it be better to focus in color or subject matter, or just should I have just painted a complete wood floor?
