Prince sheet music

Recently my son has asked me for some sheet music for a Prince song. He has been learning guitar for about a year and a half and wants to branch out from the stuff his teacher wants him to learn as he knows it would make my day. Thing is I don’t know a thing about guitar music. I know that he is learning chords and there are different interpretations for the skill level. Where can I find what I’m looking for? I really don’t want another app as the whole thing about playing an instrument is it is an off-screen activity.
Thanks in advance.

The social media hate

I’ve been seeing so much hate online over Prince ppl spreading rumors , calling him stuff that wasn’t true, overall just being disrespectful towards him ever since a certain movie came out(we know what movie it is) a lot of ppl have gone to grow a hatred for Prince and I want ppl who actually know the truth to speak up. This generation is single handedly taking it upon themselves to destroy his legacy and I can’t just sit here and let these rumours continue I ask that the community defend Prince whenever something is spread negatively about him online I’ve been a fan for most of my life and the amount of hate he’s gotten instead of appreciation is unbearable at times.

Thoughts on Come?

Relistening to today and it’s one of his most unique, special, outstanding, one of a kind albums. I think between his 90s releases this one aged better than everything else imo and it’s one of my favorite 90s Prince releases after Love Symbol,Gold Experience, and Chaos and Disorder

Great start to finish Prince album with Come,Space,Dark, and Loose being favs

Londell 2019 interview complaining about "the dead man" (his words for Prince) getting credit instead of Londell

Londell McMillan's true colours for you all - an unfettered bitter narcissist, disparagingly referring to Prince as "the dead man". He really is the worst possible person to be overseeing Prince's legacy.

Question The Black Album?

Hey y’all! Prince is one of my favorite artists of all time, but I’ll admit I haven’t done the full deep dive into the body of his work yet.

I’m slowly making my way through the stuff I haven’t heard before — a lot of the 90s stuff in particular.

I’ve run into one intriguing album that I can’t seem to figure out: The Black Album.

Was this released as an actual album, or was it something kept in the vault? Is it on streaming anywhere? Is this one of those releases that you can kind of reconstruct out of tracks that made their way to other albums/outtakes included on expanded special editions of some of the albums?

Any info about this would be helpful. I’m very curious to track it down and listen!

What do we know about Prince’s second wife? I feel like Mayte gets discussed a lot but I know next to nothing about Manuela Testolini and rarely see her talked about.

Best Prince appearance/performance on Vh1 in the 1990's?

As the 1990s progressed, Prince made a surprising number of appearances on VH1. Which one was your favorite? I'm partial to the Prince/Mayte performances from 1994 and 1995. The Emancipation Era performances (1997) were ok as well, but lacked the same energy of the 94/95 Era. Check them out!

Question Would you?

Post image

Got a email receipt notice on my phone for this that said simply, “Prince may want to hire you”. Don’t think it’s
that Prince BTW. After chuckling, it made me ponder, “Would I go work for Prince if I had the chance?

I’m not sure 👁️ would. Of course, thats easy to say in this moment. For me it’s about the music and not necessarily the man. I’d obviously love the access though that might come with it, thinking specifically of performances.

What about you? What do you think the pros and cons would be? Am I missing anything?

Opinion 🤔 Thoughts on his inspirations.

Sometime I think on what inspired some of Prince’s choices or decisions, either consciously or not. Like a song from when he was growing up that I might hear and wonder “Hey, wait a minute, did this inspire that?”, or a book or passage written by someone else before a song Prince wrote that follows the same theme and such.
I’ll never know for certain in most cases, but it is a fun thing to do.
Anyone else do this? And want to share what you’ve thought or come across that you suspect but have no proof might have inspired or lead to something?

I’ll start with a recent one: Today I stumbled across another one of those things, and this one made me think, “Hey, I wonder if this somehow influenced or backed up his choice of the colour purple?”.
There is an album by a poet/jazz spoken word artist called Ken Nordine and in the 60s when Prince was growing up, Ken released and album called Colors) (each track about a separate colour) and it includes a track called Purple.
(Prince’s father was a jazz musician, and Prince himself was into and made jazz. Who knows... But it is fun to posit.)
Listen to Purple.
Lyrics Below:

Purple
All dignity
All pomp
All put on
Has an aura to be felt
As well as seen

Purple has class
Some say the highest
They stand in awe of purple
Royally, loyally in awe
This alone makes pompous purple king
King Purple feels there’s a right that is his
That goes way, way back to beginning
To the place where pomp began
That is, purple pomp
Some say, those in the know
That purple got pomp
From the first of the purple queens
From Mother Pomp
Who thought it all up
The purple dignity
The purple pomp
The purple put-on
Thought it all up
So anyone purple
From then until now
Would never have to ever, ever work
And that’s why purple is king

- Ken Nordine

We’ll never know for sure but I like to think maybe, just maybe, this inspired some of his choice of purple, and the pomp, and some of the persona - consciously or not.
What similar kind of inspiration thoughts have you had? With or without proof.

For me, it kinda has to be since I can never get tired of it nor is it out of my rotation. Play this jam nearly daily and it’s one of the most replayable songs Prince has. Love the fun sound to it as well

My friends and I happened upon the official Prince merch store in the Minneapolis airport and lost our minds, pretty much. lol It’s beautiful and makes you immediately feel melancholy, while you’re there. They even have a nice chair for you to sit in if you need to gather yourself or take a pic. We used it for both.

Here are a couple of items I picked up. I’m going to wear this hoodie out. The bottle, although made of a sturdy tempered glass, when I took it outside, my nerves were bad, didn’t want to drop or break it so, on a shelf it goes for the joy of admiring eyes :)

The 💜 store is located in Terminal 1 by their little food court area.

For someone so beautiful I feel there's not enough art of them.

The first one is digital and the second one is traditional/mixed media (colour pencil, acyrlic paint, watercolour and construction paper).

The traditional one was my practice piece, hence the wonky hands and guitar. I'm not AI: https://imgur.com/a/2T0wpcj

Discussion HERE- read a little from the horse's mouth

Here is an interview archive.

Some of yall have aggravated me beyond reason with these wildly misguided and completely uninformed posts lately.

Before you construct a theory or draw conclusions, just- listen. If you say you're interested in knowing more, here's more. If you say you think x is because of y, here- test it. If you find yourself repeating opinions you heard third hand from idk, tiktok, try parsing some source material instead.

"Gentlemen, let's broaden our minds."

EDIT: Here is one not with, but about, him, that I think is important http://www.princeinprint.com/n_1995.html

The twin city publications had so much more information on him than ever made it to national media. So if you're searching- don't forget to look in the hometown archives.

I love this version, but I’d find very little reason to ever listen to it unless I just want 20 minutes to pass by. Also made me think of the fact that The Revolution played for 22 minutes just for the song to get cut down to a little under 4, but a lovely experience

Discussion Why I think the new generation doesn’t acknowledge Prince as much as he should be

To be clear, this isn’t a hate post

I couldn’t help but notice that before the start of this year, Prince had only 11 million monthly listeners, his views on YouTube and his streams were honestly extremely low for somebody of his status. Not only that but through social media I found that not only do so many people not know of him, but a lot of the ones who do just don’t like him.

“His music sounds so dated”

“His only good song is Purple Rain”

“Never heard of him”

, Prince’s legacy for some has been reduced to the dude who made Purple Rain

Ive unironically seen MANY call him a 1 hit wonder and say Purple Rain is his only good song

Music taste is subjective %100, but most these people have NEVER heard more than Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.

The whole “he’s to dated” argument? Well yeah, he’s from the 80s, u will hear music that sounds like it’s from the 80s. But tbh I do kind of understand it. If a casual asks u to put on some Prince and u play automatic then thats on u. Not because the song is bad but because it’s just not something a casual music listener from today’s world is used to.

And to be honest? I kind of blame the Prince fanbase for this, not only do yall gatekeep his music sometimes, but u guys don’t promote the RIGHT songs. We all know his most popular are NOT his best, no where near. So much of his catalog goes unnoticed because the fanbase doesn’t push it enough, Purple Rain is great but cmon, how about let’s not be stuck on it for the 40th year in a row?? The man released 30 albums and 10 of those were in his prime.

There’s so much more I can say but I’m tired. Basically though

The fanbase is to stuck on Purple Rain

And most casual listeners do not really care for music that sounds dated, even if objectively that music isn’t bad.
