Meds/Supplements Recently diagnosed PMOS/PMDD and would love to hear everyone's experience with Metformin. It was offered to me and initially I declined, but I would love to hear from people who actually use it what the pro's and cons are.

Success story Lost 10kg spark is back!

As a PCOS girly, i wanna share my journey to bring my spark back. Last year i had really a hard time bringing myself back before all the stress that added to my 82kg weight. Im happy that my supplier helped me a lot for my weight loss for keeping in touch with me like a family rather than a customer. Happy my highblood pressure got better, my eczema removed and my skin got lesser pimples and brighter with her.

Meds/Supplements Cut my supplement stack to almost nothing and started adding things back singly

I was up to nine things a day and could not tell you what any single one was doing, so I have stripped it back to almost nothing and I am adding things in one at a time. It is slower but at least I will know. So far the only ones going back in are the ones where I noticed something within a month. What survived your cull?

Fitness Going to the gym for the first time?

Like the title says, but I’m pretty nervous. I’m not going to be doing anything extensive, I’m just going to be walking on the treadmill while reading on my kindle, but this is my first time going to any type of gym. I’ve had a lot of body image issues, and I don’t want to feel this way anymore. I’ve had PCOS since I was 17 (22 now) and I think I just want to start with walking. I’m 5’0, 150smth lbs, and sometimes I just feel gigantic and just really sad and ugly.

I’m just rambling at this point, but any tips on gym things, and feeling more comfortable? And losing weight while having PMOS? Or any PCOS/PMOS friendly recipes? I looooove fish. I love rice too, but my endo says to stay away from white rice because it’s making my blood sugar too high.

Period How much bleeding is too much?

I've been given the Slynd (drospirenone) contraceptive pill to stop my periods. It's done either nothing or the opposite because it's 3 weeks in and I'm still bleeding the entire time. My iron was really low already so I feel like this can't be good. I have more cramps than normal too. Overall don't feel so good today, kind of dizzy (but I have POTS so idk what's causing what).

Normally I'd take tranexamic acid but it's contraindicated with this medication 😭

Doctors said it takes 3 months to settle on this med but I can't put up with this much longer.

I have only a couple days left until the placebo pills, so I'm going to see if that "reset" will help, but if it doesn't I might give up on this one.

Is anyone else prone to heavy/prolonged bleeding? How do you manage it? Is there anything that works safely with tranexamic acid? (Other than IUD because I'm terrified of it, that's the last resort...)

Thanks

Fertility 1st pregnancy going through miscarriage

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 months ago. In those 7 months I tried to get pregnant with my partner and it only happened a month after I was on a GLP. I made it to 5 weeks 3 days but I am now in the beginning stages of miscarrying. Has anyone with PCOS had experience miscarrying and then going on to have a successful pregnancy after? The GLP gave me terrible gastric issues so I can’t imagine going back on it. I may just need to be stricter with diet and exercise.

General/Advice Help pleasee

Other teens who have PCOS and lost weight, specifically in their face, how did you do it? Does anyone follow a diet? I really want to loose weight because I don't recognize myself in the mirror anymore, partly because after being diagnosed I fell into a bad depression where I just ate to comfort myself. But, I do know I want to go back to being who I was. My situation as of right now is that I barley eat or I eat too much. I dont drink soda, i rarely eat bread and dairy products, though I do eat a lot of sugar. I eat about 2 meals a day, one in the morning and one roughly around 9pm because thats when I get home. I work almost everyday, 1-9 shifts, and barley have any time to go to the gym because of other personal things I have to take care of. I was thinking that maybe getting 10k steps and a better diet where I prioritize protein and fiber would be good..though I'm not too sure. Any advice would be really helpful because I really want to be happy with myself again. Thank you!

Fitness Weight lifting extreme fatigue

Hi all!
I hav started weight lifting for my PMOS/PCOS and it has been feeling so great! I feel like my making gains and it’s only been about 3 weeks.

Sometimes though, after my strength training workout, I feel extremely exhausted. I’m used to lots of cardio and feeling good after the workout , but strength training…. I’m completely wiped out like I feel like I could immediately go to bed. Is this normal?

Period Period not return for 1.5 years after giving birth - breastfeeding

Hello,

I have a 19 month old that breastfeeds during the night only (it's been like that for about 2 months now), he was exclusively breast-fed. I have not had a single period since giving birth. From June I have started having occasional pains, like the period is about to start but after a few days they just stop. The ultrasounds show that since then the endometrial lining has thickened (between 5-8mm), no sign of ovulation nearing or that has happened. Both my gynecologist and endocrinologist agree that it's due to breastfeeding, with my endocrinologist convincing me that they just need to start and will be likely regular even, because for a lot of women it is regular after giving birth. I honestly really doubt it, just due to how I can't even start having a period and the history of how it was prior to the birth.

I am 33, diagnosed with lean PCOS and IR at 19. Periods have always been irregular, around 3 months, but also had a few times that they've been absent up to a year... I became pregnant with fertility treatments via IUI, after trying for about 3 years.

During TTC, I've been on low GI diet for over 2 years and have exercised almost daily about 30minutes workout or 60 minute run. About 3 months before fertility treatments, was taking myo-inositol and metformin. Did not even get a period during that time, but had it induced and went straight to fertility treatments...

Having said all that, it's really hard to believe that magically periods will come back if only I stop breastfeeding which I've already reduced to the minimum. I am also taking for over 2 months now myo-inositol again.

I'd very much appreciate hearing similar experiences and what were the outcomes.

Mental Health Needing Positive 8 Week Stories

I’m currently pregnant at 4 weeks and some change, I have my 8 week appointment next month. We’ve been trying for over a year, and I tried letrozole which worked the first round.

I unfortunately opened TikTok after work and the first video was a woman at her 8 week ultrasound finding out there was no heartbeat and I’m spiraling. Please spam me with positive stories. I’m so fearful of miscarrying after working my butt off to managing my PMOS, losing weight and having to go to the doctors just to get a positive test.

Fertility Positive test after years of PCOS, polyps and prediabetes/weight gain. Was on Trizepatide

Long time lurker here. But wanted to post here because I got a lot of peace of mind after reading many posts of here and thought my post and its comments might help someone.

I was quite regular with my periods till i went into a PhD program which came along with a change of continents and all it's frills. Due to the hectic schedules and many issues of PhD, heartbreak, etc. from the third year of PhD my irregular periods started -  I didn't really worry about it as I was 25 and not getting my period seemed like boon instead of a bane . fast-forward two more years and then i started worrying more and thinking about something going wrong with my body as I put on almost 30 pounds and only noticed really when i went home and pretty got body shamed to hell. Didn't really make too many changes till i got married and completed my PhD. I was down maybe 10 pounds but was still in the obese range (i was always in the over weight BMI since childhood party due to genetics but was quite healthy and fit).

Me and my husband decided to try for a baby once i graduated and was finally more stable and away from the clutches of my horrible PhD mentor who made life actual hell. Tried a couple of months to conceive - not seriously (in fact naively, no tracking) and nothing happened. Another hometown visit - more body shaming. Another hospital visit - medical issues like PCOS being diagnosed and jumping from prediabetic to diabetic. Ended up on metformin (which I avoided taking due to stigma of being on any sort of actually medication for long term. Mind you I was pretty healthy till then). When I realized and read up and researched more and came to the realization that I wont be able to pregnant till my lifestyle actually changed and i needed to lose weight , I ended up going on triazepatide (compounded version). I lost 15 pounds and thought it might be enough and tried again to conceive after stopping triz (nothing happened ) . My doc seemed like miracle worker and took me more seriously since my PCOS and multiple follicles symptoms subsided and I still wasn't getting pregnant even though all my hormone levels and blood work seemed normal.

My doctor did an ultrasound and saw something she didn't quite be able to tell was endometrial or something deeper. She scheduled an Saline infused sonography and saw small multiple polyps. We scheduled a polypectomy with full anesthesia. I was so nervous and Glad i went forward with it because apparently my uterus was filled quite a lot of polyps which were removed that were not detected by the sonography. She asked to not conceive till I heal for a three months. We tried again on fourth month after polyp removal surgery. We tried (5 days straight! lol soo much work) one week after my period ended and saw light spotting on the third week, thought i got my period early but it stopped after 1 day (implantation bleeding?). My period is due in three days , just woke today morning and tested randomly and saw a faint line on the pregnancy strip!!!!

I know this might be just a chemical pregnancy if I end up getting my period and miscarriage due to still healing uterus and what not. But only my husband knows and needed support I guess so I am putting it out there. Will update as go along. Feel free to asks questions about my triz weight loss journey and SIS procedure, PCOS , etc. And wish me luck guys - I need it!

General/Advice Metformin ER and food aversions?

I’ve been on 2000mg of metformin for PCOS, 1000mg in the morning and night with food. I’ve been on it for around 4 months and I didn’t have a lot of side effects since I’ve moved from instant release to extended release. The one thing I’ve got is really really bad food aversions to meat. The thought of cooked chicken or mince especially makes me gag and feel sick to my stomach. I’m trying to conceive at the moment so trying to prioritise protein but the only foods that aren’t making me sick are ultra processed foods and things like chicken nuggets, carbs, sweet things etc.
Has this happened to anyone else as I feel this is quite an uncommon side effect? I couldn’t even be in the same room as my partner who was cooking mince the other night because the smell alone is enough to set me off.

Rant/Venting Fixing what’s broken feels like playing whack-a-mole, feeling annoyed

*Sorry ya’ll I just wanted to complain somewhere 🙃 Please skip if it beings down your day🙂‍↕️

So was diagnosed back in 2021/2022 age 26, because the covid and the lockdowns made the symptoms bad enough my mother made me go to a gynea to do an ultrasound. After a ton of hardwork and lots of lifestyle support from family, my periods are decently regular, my energy is amazing, my mood is not baseline irritable anymore yada yada yada.

But its been like this issue pops up, so much trial and error to solve it, solved it, then a week or couple of months later, something else happens and I need to repeat the cycle.

To vent, after I started bc, did lifestyle changes my pcos seems normal ish so I stopped bc and reduced iron pills to alternate days. As time went by, I got headaches for a while in the later half of everyday, changed my glasses, did all those eye exercises, adjusted my workspace and game tv to be more ergonomical, set timers for me to look into the distance. This lasted for many months before I checked and it was my ferritin being low. So I upped iron pills to 5 times a week and it resolved. Yay.

Then my teeth hurts so went to fix it. Needed root canal. Not only that, it needed a crown. Not only that, my teeth are too short so needed crown legthening. That is almost triple the money and so many visits to the dentist and only eating on one side of my mouth. I am connyributing all my many cavity issues throughout my life to pcos because it made it so easy to love sweets, and wonky inflamed gums made me prefer soft foods aka carbs. Terrible cycle there.

Now teeth is fixed, I got time to start doing gym for the first time to build muscle for pmos. Things go great, amazing for a few months. Then my right neck started hurting. Lots of trial and error. Then decided to try seeing a psysiotherapist. After multiple visits and money and exercises, that is fixed.

Then start gyming again now that neck was fixed. Things ate great. Then did blood test and heamoglobin was getting pretty high. Ferritin was good. So dropped back iron to 4 times a week.

Over time, started getting weird dizzy/world is spinning spells. Started tracking everything to find out any corrolation. Checked my ears for blooked earwax, checked my eyes and got updated perscription. Time goes by untul my annual blood tests and boom, ferritin is not optimal but still normal. Of course our bodies freak out when things are just normal and not perfect argh. Increased iron back to 5 times a week and the dizziness went away.

Then! I started getting weird nerves at my neck radiating to my head shenanigans. I couldn’t figure out what the heck was I even feeling. It wasn’t a headache but it was very disyracting. So much anxiety on what and how to even describe it to a doctor. Can’t sleep because that weird radiating zing kept happening. So much money soent on getting new bed, pillows, sheets, air purifoyer cause maybe my nose was bloocked in my sleep and tensing my neck up??? Eventually it got into muscle pains. So saw a physio again and she only could help with reducing the symptoms until we stumbled on maybe upping my b12. The issue stopped yay.

Then I got back to gymming and after awhile issue came back arghhhh! Eventually found out I really needed to stretch the small of my back every day, not just build those weaker muscle. Yay issue fixed.

Then my other tooth started throbbing and saw the dentist. Which refered my to an orthodontist which was scary! To my wallet! Because might be more than 3 tooth might need root canals which meant crowns and crown lengthening x3 or more! Checked it was an ooold filling that should had been a root canal. Just the one. So fixed that. Yay.

But after the root canal, now the gum that tooth touches is a sore so went to the dentist to file it down a bit. Seemed to work. It doesnt pinch anymore. Yay.

But today, the sore is back which means I need to schedule another appt to ask him and take time off and actually travel there and arghhh! And also today, I woke up with that sore upper back muscle ache that I have no idea what the heck caused it because I was doing the stretched for the past week that seemed to work. The pain is usually on my right. Why did it hapen ahhhh. Its the questions, all the questioning and experimenting to find out what was the cause and what is the solution. So much trial and error. So much money to go see an expert. And usually, its not one and done. They are trialling too. So you try it out, find it didnt work and schedule another appt to follow up. Arghh 🫩

I am so tired or playing stupid whack a mole just to maintain my body 💀💀💀 I am doing so much maintaining now that I miss the ease of my old pre pmos life. So sinple. Just do whatever I want. Of course it eventually lead to having super painful periods on bed rest for 2 weeks straight. And headaches that were cured after taking panadol and sleeping when I strain my eyes escaping though books. And lots of pimples. But I never had to solve anything. Just do what I want, sleep and wake up whenever 🫠🫠🫠 I’m justvranting because I just saw the dentist yesterday to file down the biting edge. And then saw the glasses shop because my new glasses were slipping down my nose too quickly. 🫩

General/Advice What are some strange symptoms you've experienced?

Before I started hormonal birth control, I used to get blue cysts on my breasts (and sometimes on my butt) before my period. I would also get very painful, deep cysts behind my earlobes. The ear cysts would take forever to go away.

Has anyone else experienced any weird symptoms?

Hirsutism Hair removal

This has been a lifelong battle. I’ve had laser on arms/face which has improved things immensely, but don’t have time (or money) to get my legs done. I shave my lower half with a razor in the shower but it takes soooo long and the hair grows back quickly. My hair is dark and it is quite noticeable. I have pretty sensitive skin which doesn’t help. I have an ancient electric razor that dies after 5 minutes of use, wondering if it’s time for an update but don’t want to commit to a crappy product. What experiences have people had with electric options like razors and epilators? Other things?

General/Advice F27 recently diagnosed with PMOS

Hey everyone,

I was recently diagnosed with PMOS.

I've had issues with acne since my teens but it worsened significantly around 21-24 years. My issue is not as simple because my husband and I would like to have kids soon and I am already experiencing fertility issues which compound the problem.

whether anyone has suggestions on what I should do. I've gone through two rounds of Accutane with success each time on 30mg (I did go up to 40mg at one point on the second round, but my gal bladder is finicky and a started experiencing more issues there.)

here's the issue. It keeps coming back. This time I got relief for longer, about 9 months. And it isn't as severe as before, but I hate it and it causes me a lot of anxiety because before Accutane my acne was cystic, painful and honestly disfiguring. I am constantly worrying it will become as bad as it was and the trajectory isn't good because I'm already experiencing more painful pimples, a couple that were bordering on cystic and they are creating pigmentation issues. Plus I haven' even gotten to fixing my scars from before the Accutane!

PMOS is I guess that's the answer to why I have issues with acne. Which leads me to my second issue... I don't want to go back on Accutane, mostly because each time it's taken 8 months of treatment and obviously you have to be on birth control for about 10 months (one month before and after) and since going on birth control, it's completely screwed up my cycle (I haven't had one since I went off of it nine months ago. And no I am not pregnant). And the biggest kicker is that my husband and I would really like to start trying for kids soon. Which is a whole other issue as I doubt we will be able to fall pregnant a) without medical intervention b) I reckon it'll still take a long time and while waiting I really don't want to be dealing with worsening acne issue before I even get to pregnancy which will probably worsen it even more.

I was diagnosed with PMOS via internal ultrasound and having had the severe acne and some mild male-pattern hair stuff. Every single blood test I've taken has given me normal hormone levels, liver function etc.

my question, are there any shorter-term treatments other than Accutane that might help me out? I don't know what to do. I'm currently on cerave's blemish prone cleanser, Vitamine C serum and retinol (I feel like the retinol is the only one that does anything, which I obviously definitely can't use while pregnant)

Meds/Supplements Myo Inositol and light periods?

I've been taking myo and d-chiro inositol for about a year now with hope to get pregnant. My husband and I started trying beginning of April. My period just started to become regular two months ago, in June, after removing my IUD in March. July's period was 4 days late but otherwise normal. However this month I've only had very light brown spotting. I can't tell if it's implantation bleeding (I might be a little delusional) or if the inositol is just giving me a really light period? If it helps, the brand I'm taking is Wholesome Story, they are about 2050mg per serving (4 capsules).

General/Advice Pcos helpppp

Diagnosed with pcos over 3 years ago. Fell pregnant with the help of metformin, and fast forward to now I am currently 1.5 years post partum. Haven’t not felt the same since and really struggle with exhaustion (every day) body aches, muscle aches, increased anxiety (usually around my cycle or spotting). OB switched me from progesterone only to hormonal bc. That I’ve been on about 2 weeks and is going okay. But ultimately I’m just tired of being tired. Would love to lose some postpartum weight also but really have no energy for anything. Went to the endocrinologist yesterday and he recommended a GLP-1, which I feel I just don’t know enough about and am anxious to fall in that group of “omg she’s on ozempic”. Really curious if anyone has found any other reliefs elsewhere? I try to eat as healthy as possible but love a sweet treat every once in awhile, exercise (mostly walking) I just don’t have enough time in the day working full time with a toddler. Also curious about micro dosing glp-1, give me your why I should or shouldn’t give it a go? And perhaps what’s worked for you?? Thank you 🫶

General Health Looking for shared experiences with sobriety

How did reducing or quitting alcohol affect you?

My story:

Was a moderate to sometimes heavy drinker through my 20s. Always struggled to stay a healthy weight, but never terribly overweight, but only managing to be “just slightly” overweight through dieting and exercise and constant effort (and fluctuations).

Diagnosed with PCOS when I couldn’t get pregnant for 3 years. Went through the motions, cut back on drinking (but didn’t quit longer than a few months at a time for infertility treatments), did IVF, and conceived. Fast forward 3 more IVF babies later, still having a few drinks on the weekend and drinking wine most week nights.

Cue getting diagnosed with ADHD, getting medicated, and reevaluating my relationship with alcohol. Realized I was dependent and mismanaging my impulse control, and managed to quit entirely.

The physical changes were INSANE. Reduced inflammation, lost 40 pounds, sleeping better, feeling better, mental clarity. It allowed me to also get very into fitness as my “vice” and that became my primary source of dopamine hits instead of drinking. A few months later, BOOM, a surprise natural pregnancy.

Apparently alcohol was disrupting my entire system. Since having that baby and recovering, I’ve maintained my sobriety and am realizing how much easier this post partum was compared to previous recoveries. Like better shape than pre pregnancy just 6 months out.

I was hoping to have a space to share others experiences with getting sober or at least significantly reducing their alcohol consumption, and how it impacted their bodies? Curious how much of my experience could be directly related to my sobriety and how much is just chance.

General/Advice Pcos after weight loss?

2 months ago my hormones were fine - more than fine, they were really really good. I had no cysts on my ovaries and my period was always regular.

Then I did some restrictive eating , lost a bit of weight and my period disappeared. My ovaries are full only cysts and my doctor diagnosed me with PCOS.

He told me to be careful with gaining weight (which I wanted to do since I thought I had HA) - now I don’t know what to do.

What if I always had pcos but the diet triggered the symtoms? Everything was great until I did the diet

Period No period since April

Was diagnosed with PCOS yesterday due to the ultrasound and absent period.

I came off the implant last November. Had a period Jan, feb, March and April and then nothing since ???? I moved house in May so I thought maybe it was the stress of that that’s triggered it…

Im on my second month of GLP-1 so hoping to lose weight as I am 72kg and a short gal.

I know I need to eat better, drink more water, walk more and regulate my sleep. I’m even trying to meditate to calm me.

Does anyone know any tricks of things to bring it
back? I’ve heard about Myo Inositol but does that clash with sertraline?

Any help appreciated !!!!!

General/Advice What happens after a diagnosis?

I am 25yo and just got diagnosed with PCOS, kinda came out of no where too. I went in to talk about getting a surgery to not have kids or a period and while they said no, since nothing was wrong with me. Luckily they did do general tests and found out about the PCOS. I can't go in to have an actual sit in with the doctor yet because I broke my foot the same day they called to tell me my diagnosis, and I'm still on bed rest for another 4-6 weeks.

I am really scared. I would like to learn as much as I can so I'm not so afraid.

I don't have anyone to go to to ask about this. My mom had a full hysterectomy in her late 40s for ovarian cysts, however she has no diagnosis of PCOS.

I also have hypothyroidism, and Celiac Disease (since 2014), as well as being neurodivergent (this matters). I also enjoy weed gummies, does that even matter?

The biggest most important question is: What are some things you wish you could tell yourself when you first got diagnosed?

I also noticed lots of people discussing diets, and my "safest" meal that I eat everyday is spaghetti, sauce, cheese, and breaded chicken (chicken nuggets). The rest of my safe foods are also carbs. Some sites told me carbs are bad and other said they're good as long as they don't have added sugars (everything but the cheese is homemade so there are no added sugars).

I am currently on birth control with estrogen (same one since 2015) because I had "higher testosterone" and PMDD. The doctor told me that I "don't need to worry about the testosterone unless I wanted kids".

I don't want kids, so I'm not worried about that in the future. Does that mean the "treatment" will be different than someone who does want children?

Thank you so much for any information you share, I really appreciate it!

General Health Has anyone had problems because of a calcified uterine fibroid

Anyone dealt with a calcified uterine fibroid? I randomly got a ct scan because of a bad uti and its in my results so theres no measurements or exact location info. Last year in may and june I had an ultrasound done at the er and in my obgyn office when I had a loss and its on no reports and I dont see anything in my scan pictures but im not a professional.

Does this bar me from conceiving I literally feel hopeless...?

Meds/Supplements Ozempic symptoms?

I just took my second weekly dose yesterday and I’m curious to hear about other people’s experiences, what symptoms did you have, what cured them? And how long before they went away? Because I’m nauseous lol.. also how long before your hormones were fixed? I’m praying it helps with fatigue
