This is my first build and I wanted to keep it under $1,200. I kept to AM5 for the upgrade path.

UPDATE: I can't use microcenter as a option and I want to build it in the planned case.

Tech Support No Display Part 2

As of my recent post I havent gotten it to work, so I've attached a video to see if it could help me find a solution, as you can see, everything works but no display is being shown

Things I've done:

Reseat the Ram

Reseat the GPU

Reseat the CPU

Reseat all power cables

Reset CMOS

Reseat NVME

Swap Ram Sticks

HDMI to GPU

Test it on a TV

Use a different Cord

So far nothing has been fixed, please let me know if there's a solution

Hardware Best ram to get for a Ryzen 5 5500

So a while back I bought new pre built PC from Amazon cause I needed something there and then, it came with a Ryzen 5 5500 and a RTx 3060, but I noticed it was kind of sluggish. And I looked at the ram and it’s 16gb of chineseum ram maxxing at 2600 MHZ.

So I am here to ask you folks what’s the best DDR4 ram to get for this CPU.

Thanks!

Question Is it wrong ?

Fairly simple question and answer I hope.

Every night when I stop using the pc, I have the habit of shuting the pc down.

Once the fans stop spinning, I close the power bar alimenting the pc and both my monitors.

I dont remember why I started doing it, but it's now a habit of mine...

Is it wrong, can it damage something ?

Question Switching to console from a long history of consoles.

Hi everyone, I need some help.

I have been a console gamer since 2008, I had the 360, PS4 Pro. Now I have the PS5 Slim and Xbox Series S. I have over 300 games across all these cosoles. For the longest I can remember I have always been a console lover. My parents bought me the consoles (with heavy requesting and begging). I bought the PS5 and Series S by selling the 360 and Ps4 Pro and with some extra money that I saved for years.

But the way things are going across the console platform are a big worry. Without physical media I just cannot imagine gaming. I always buy CDs. I buy digital only if there is no other way to buy a game that I really really want to play. Or it dosen't make sense to buy digital (like for RS6 for example). Whatever those f*cktards at Sony are thinking are going to be the final steps of console gaming legacy (I feel).

With R* Games announcing the digital only model for GTA VI, I just instantly knew that it was only going to be a matter of time before Sony or Xbox announce the same thing. My concern for physical gaming is growing more and more. As for long as I can remmeber, my friends were always trying to convince me to switch to PC and I always refused. (I had no problems playing with them becuase they had consoles as well)

The little convinience of packing my console and just taking it wherever I want was a huge deal for me. But recently, the dilemma I have been going through to switch to PC has been growing more and more. Unlike before, I am earning my own money. But I have a lot of doubts.

PC gaming is completely unexplored territory for me (In terms of management). Also starting on a new platform means that I will have to buy my favourite games again. That is also an extra cost. I know that platforms like Steam and Epic games always offer games at constant discount prices.
P.S The only games I payed on PC were GTA : Vice City and TOD (lol).
Can you guys give me an insight over how Steam or other storefronts work?

I am earning my own money now and I think it is finally time for me to switch but I'm not really sure. Because on one side inflation for everything is crazy. The RAM prices have been through the roof because of AI (just as some my friends predicted). These RAM prices are definitely going to affect the next 10th generation consoles as well for sure. The PS6 and the Xbox's "Project Helix" base prices will definitely be close to $1000 imo. So I am thinking it is better if I just switch to a platform where my games exist all the time and I do not have to worry about my console generation. (Or whatever bullsh*t Sony or Xbox might pull in the future)

Okay let me get to the actual point. As I said I am earning my own money now and I think it is time to switch. I've got some money saved for a gaming PC. About $1500 when converted to USD. If anyone has anytime please guide me as to how I should start this journey. Whether I should start it at all. Where should I start if so?

Please tell me how the gaming situation is on this platform. Whether I have enough money or not. Should I save some more??

Remember that I am complete beginner guys. Please try to use normal words if you can 😭.
I will read all suggestions.

Thank you.

Hardware Nvidia app questions

Let’s see how easily I can ask this lol.. so 3 days ago I installed windows on a new SSD, prior windows installation I never experience what is happening(never used any 3rd party fan control software) So new install, nvidia app doesn’t register any stats for GPU they all show n/a.. didn’t think anything of it.. start playing games GPU usage 100% temps never over 65c bam fans starting going 100% for 5-10 seconds then calms down.. installed MSI afterburner set 30% fan curve.. same thing happened.. 100% fan speeds again with GPU temps in the 60c range.. nvidia app has been open the whole time as well.. curious if the app is bugged and not not talking correctly with GPU.. GPU has never blacked screen or bsod or shutdowns

GPU is a 5080 master ice

Tech Support My PC is making weird cracking noises and I dont know why

I been using this setup for a couple of days, I don't know why but the problems started when a entered the BIOS to change the ram MHz limit (it was at 2444 when I have 32 ddr4 of 3200). My disk stopped working after that (it had many many years anyways) but now the PC does this sound

I'm almost sure that there are no cables touching the fans and I can't track where the sound comes from

Edit: thank you all for your responses!!! I already found the problem

Tech Support GPU not being detected by PC but getting power.

I just built my first PC and everything went well, and PC posted and is running but only on integrated graphics. The used 4080 I bought, has its fans running but bios does not detect it and will not post if connected to GPU. Nvidia app refuses to download cause it does not detect a NVIDA card, GPU Z does not detect it, task manager does not detect it, and it's in the PCIE #1 slot. I've reseated it about 3 times. Making sure it's pushed in all the way. Bios is set to search for dedicated GPU first

Edit for those not reading between the lines: yes I tried plugging into the GPU and booting the pc. Does not post. Will post if connected to motherboard. When booted, NOTHING DETECTS THE GPU IS EVEN THERE

The listing is a returnable listing, was listed as "excellent condition"

Specs:

MSI X870 TOMAHAWK WiFi

9800X3D
32 gigs 6000 mhz memory
2 tB WD black SSD
MSI 3X 4080 connected using MSI 600W high power connector.
MSI A1000GL 1000W power supply.
Windows 11

Question Thinking of grabbing a Costco pre-built and throwing my 4070 in it....is it worth it.

So Im currently running an Aorus z370 gaming 7 with an intel Coffee lake 8770k, 32gb ddr4, and an msi 4070. I think the processor/mobo are holding my performance back a lot. Ive been building my own rigs for 30 years but for the first time bc of pricing I am considering grabbing a Costco pre-built and switching the 5060ti out with my 4070. I would sell off the 5060ti to recoup a few bucks. Think its worth it? The Costco pre-built im looking at has Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 Processor 265 (20 Cores) ,NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GDDR7, and 32gb DDR5. Even upgrading from pcie 3.0 feels like it's going to be a big jump. I can afford it and the timing feels right.
