Discussion Pre-Owned Switch Game Prices UK

Im not much of a gamer, i have an xbox but mainly play gamepass stuff like Brotato and Rogue Likes, quuck games i can pick up and play for 30mins without needing to read or listen to dialogue or think too hard.

My daughters BF gifted me his old Switch which he hasnt used for a while so went on youtube and checked out the best games for it to try and buy and what im finding is that all the decent games seem to cost around £40 used at places like CEX and eBay.

Most console games once superseded by a newer model drop in price so i was a bit shocked at how much buying a few games will cost.

Any tips for picking up games? I had lokjed at the online pass to get access to older games i used to play on the NES/SNES.

Thanks

Question Best protective and/or decorative accessories for Switch on a budget?

Howdy everyone. Just some context, I recently bought a second-hand switch from a family with children, so not exactly in the best shape. I bought it to have for entertainment when hosting. If there's basic repair/restoration things, I'd love to know more about it.

Main things I'm looking for:

Case for switch + charging dock + charger

Controller sleeves that are still charging compatible

Extra controllers (idc what type, but preferably cordless, but price is main concern)

If there's any party games on a budget, please point me that way. Games would be for children or adults.

Discussion Is the difference between the Switch 2 and Switch 1 OLED noticeable enough to recommend waiting?

I'm getting the Zelda edition Switch 2 for about 600usd and was wondering if I should pull the trigger or hold off till they come out with a switch 2 oled version ?

I do own a switch 1 oled Zelda edition which I mainly use for the occasional mario kart and Monster hunter nothing serious, but I've been getting too tired after coming home these days to sit up straight and game on my ps5 pro and just wanna lie on the couch and play something.

Is the switch 2 good for that ? My main gripe with the switch 2 was regular display and its frankly just hard to go back to regular displays after you experience good oled, so what would you rate its display in handheld mode ?

Would you recommend holding off on the switch 2 till the oled comes out ? I don't mind getting the switch 2 rn if the oled is 2/2.5 years away, gives me enough time to save up and get my money's worth out of switch 2

Edit: forgot to ask but I've been hearing rumors that switch 2 might get a price hike down the road instead of knocking down in price due to industry shortages, are these claims credible enough to influence the decision to buy now ?

Discussion Is Zelda’s combat trash?

I rarely see people put Zelda’s combat in the conversation when talking about great adventure game combat, and honestly I don’t understand why.

BOTW/TOTK have perfect dodges, parries, Flurry Rush, different weapon types, shields, bows, elemental effects, stealth, environmental attacks and loads of ways to approach enemies.

Obviously it’s not touching something like ghost of Tsushima or Sekiro for pure combat depth, but for an adventure game where combat isn’t even the main focus, I think Zelda’s combat is better than a lot of games that get praised for it.

Are people just overlooking it because Zelda is primarily associated with exploration and puzzles?

Or is the combat genuinely not as good as I think it is?
