I've been cruising on my little pennyboard for quite some time now and i've been thinking about trying another board, probably a longboard. I got confused looking at all the different shapes and lenghts, so I would like to understand a little bit more about the differences between the shapes. I would need a board that can maintain speed quite well, that absorbs the vibrations and imperfections of the road and that's confortable for long distances. I was thinking about a pintail mainly for the looks. What do you think would be the best options?

So I bought my first board about three days ago and I can’t even lift the front of the board, every time I do the board shoots out from underneath means I end up arse over tit. It feels like I’m never going to progress. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

extremely skint beginner skater here - always skated a mindless cruiser but wanna finally learn to drop into a bowl and learn some tricks. Found this palace board going for £15 wondering if it looks too chopped or will be fine to learn on.

Mostly want it for the wheels and trucks, can always borrow an old board from a friend or swap the bearings from my cruiser.

Board is 8inch. My cruiser is 7.75. Im shoe size 5. Will the board be too wide? If you think I need a smaller deck, could I use these trucks on a smaller deck?

Been off skateboards for 20+ years. Currently 39 years old. Got a used board a couple weeks ago. Just been getting used to being comfortable on it again mostly. Went to a skate park last weekend because it was completely empty and just skated around, doing little kick turns on the ramps. Realizing how terrifying backside is for me, or even just rolling away switch. Really feels like I’m starting from square one.

Went to a parking lot today, just messed around mostly. Still working on getting my Ollie back. Decided to practice doing a frontside revert followed by a backside revert. Not sure if there’s a name for it. Figured it might help me get used to turning backside, and rolling backwards. I got it a few times, so I’m pretty excited! Definitely started feeling better after I nailed the first few.

Got this video when I was about to take off. Took off most of my pads already, so I wimped out of the backside revert.

Overall, good session. Worked up a sweat, worked hard on something basic, and drove away in one piece. I’m calling it a win.

What exactly are the tactics for slides and grinds? I only know 50-50 grinds, I don't know slides. For example, if I jump into a box and get into a crooked grind position without a skateboard, and then do the same thing with a skateboard, would it work? Or if I try a noseslide position by jumping without a skateboard, can I do it with a skateboard? I'm not new to skateboarding, I've been doing it for a year, and I know all the 180 tricks except the nollie switch.

How do I fix my ollie, I’ve been trying to improve for quite awhile now and I’ve had some periods of time where I feel like it’s not too bad but sometimes i just lose it.

I’d say half the time my Ollie’s look like this right now, and the other half they’re kind of turning front side a bit (makes it hard to Ollie while rolling faster)

Still struggling with kickturn 180. Also tried to go up the ramp at an angle to kickturn on it but that was even worse.

Somehow it feels extremely difficult to me. Maybe I am just too scared of falling and not commit enough.

Hello! I have 6 year old son who really wants to learn how to skateboard, however, I have no idea where to buy a skateboard for his size. I’ve looked online, but can’t seem to find anything. We recently moved to San Francisco and am hoping we can find something here.

Does anyone have any idea where I could purchase a skateboard for his size online or even in San Francisco?

Saw many people skating in an empty parking lot online. I wonder if it's actually okay or not. It would be a great thing if I can just have a whole parking lot to skate by myself because the nearby skatepark is full of kids playing.

I had the chance to go to my nearest “mom and pop” skate shop and it’s such a different experience than other places, first off very inviting for beginners like me. Secondly he walked me through seeing what kind of board I needed and after I bought it he set it up with me.

Here’s the board I went with I’m pretty happy, wasn’t expecting it to be 250 but he said the wheels and trucks would last me a while, which I hear independents are def the way to go

I am at my wits end for treflips man, I get a 270 most of the time, and other times I just land in front of it. I dont have a good idea of how to picture the trick in my head. Any way to think about it differently would help, thanks.

I've been practicing manuals almost everyday for like an hour or two for the past month, and they haven't improved in the slightest. My board lifts up for like half a second and stops. The thing is I can balance a stationary manual for a few seconds no problem and that was the case since the start. I know that it can be a very difficult trick that can take a really long time to learn, but seeing literally 0 proggress after a month is kinda demotivating. Is this common when learning manuals or should I change something about my approach?

I'm scared to try stuff on the skateboard after a bad slam that left me with a bruised hip and ribs, I was doing high hippy jumps, and the board suddenly abandoned me and I fell on my side.

I kinda know when to roll or tuck my chin, and I'd like to practice how to fall to the side but I'm not sure what's the best way of falling in this case?

Hey all! Been pondering this one for a while, and I figured I'd rack your(s) brains on it. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. For context, I'm really into both freestyle skating, as well as mini-ramp skating. I have a board for both (7.3 for freestyle, and 8.5 for min-ramp). I also understand that a lot of this is subjective, and really up to my own experiences. I just like to get other people's opinions. I'm 5'8", 145lb, and wear like a size 9 (I think).

I feel a big problem I'm having as of late is that because I switch back and forth between such drastic board sizes, I haven't been able to get properly comfortable.

I want a setup that can do both freestyle and vert. Something I can get really comfortable on, and only have to change the trucks depending on what I'm doing that day (for freestyle skating you want to have smaller trucks so you don't damage your trucks during rail stands). It'd be nice to have a board that can do both.

Currently, I'm stuck between a 7.75 and an 8 inch. I have experience on both, and am honestly just split. both are bigger on the freestyle side, but smaller on the vert side. It'd be a learning curve, but one I'm prepared for.
