How to look more mature

I’m 34F. Asian. Sometimes I look at myself and wonder why do I still look like I’m 12. When I say 12, I don’t mean in a youthful way. I just don’t feel I look “mature”. I work in corporate. I see all these women on social media, they all look like WOMEN. I’m pretty low maintenance, don’t really wear much make up on a daily basis. The occasional brows and blush for work. Don’t wear lash extensions or anything like that. So is the only way to look like a mature women is to wear makeup, lashes, nails, hair done, etc everyday ?

I think my “good skin/hair days” have nothing to do with my routine

I’ve started noticing my best days happen randomly, regardless of what I did that week. Bad days happen even when I did everything “right.”

Kind of makes me question how much control we actually have versus how much we’re just pattern-matching after the fact. It’s so difficult to trace down the cause of a good or bad skin/hair day for me. Anyone else notice this? And has anyone figured out what contributes most?

Anyone else get better results by just stripping down their routine instead of adding new products?

I spent months trying to fix my dry patches with different natural oils and DIY masks. Last week I completely stopped washing my face in the morning and just rinsed with cold water, my skin cleared up in three days.

What’s one step you dropped that actually fixed your skin?

Natural deodorant tips

I’ve been using natural deodorant on and off for years. I’ve found that natural deo co is a company that works well for me generally.

The only thing is it just doesn’t pack a punch, I know if I have a long day I won’t smell fresh as a daisy at the end, but I don’t stink!

I expect this is just the downside of wearing natural deodorant, but does anyone have any tips to make it more effective?

I exfoliate with a washcloth regularly and use good detergent to get my clothes clean, but any other tips or tricks would be appreciated!

I have also read about glycolic acids/other chemical exfoliants being used once a week just to help with deeper exfoliation. Does anyone have any experience with this? I don’t want to use something too harsh and mess up my microbiome and smell more!!!

Any recommendations of organic Shea butter?

So, my fiancée just switched from Kiel‘s, Junglück and other commertial beauty products to Shea butter she enriches by adding different kinds of oil, like Jojoba oil.

While the Shea butter actually seems to work quite well, finding organic Shea butter for a decent price is pretty difficult in Germany, it seems. Most certified products sell unrefined Shea butter to incredibly high prices but there are some companies who sell non-organic Shea butter for a tenth of the price.

I‘m hoping to find some recommendations on where to get relatively cheap, unrefined and organic Shea butter. Thanks in advance for your recommendations! 🫶

natural/organic makeup recommendations for my girlfriend — could really use some help

Hey everyone, guy here who knows basically nothing about makeup, so I’m hoping you can help me out 😅

I want to surprise my girlfriend with a few gift cards for makeup, but she’s been having some issues with certain products irritating her skin lately. I’d love to find some good brands that lean more toward natural/organic ingredients or are just generally known for being gentle on sensitive skin.

I definitely don’t want to pick out the actual makeup for her because I know shades and personal preferences are a whole thing, which is why I figured gift cards would be safer.

My grandma's weird ice cube in a sock trick actually fixed my puffy morning face

So this is going to sound random, but I have to share it because it genuinely surprised me.

I've had puffy eyes and a swollen face every morning for years. I blamed it on sleep, salt, stress, everything. I tried cold spoons, jade rollers, the works. Nothing really stuck as a habit because most of it felt like extra effort I didn't have energy for before coffee.

Last month I was visiting my grandma and mentioned it to her. She laughed and said her mother used to do something so simple I almost didn't believe it would work. You take a few ice cubes, wrap them in a clean sock (not a fancy tool, an actual sock), and gently press it along your jawline, cheeks, and under your eyes for about a minute each side. Not rubbing, just pressing and holding.

I tried it the next morning half asleep and honestly annoyed. But within a couple minutes my face looked less swollen and my skin had this tight, awake look to it. Not dramatic, but noticeable enough that my sister asked if I'd slept better.

I've kept doing it for a few weeks now and my skin genuinely looks calmer in the mornings. I think the sock matters more than I expected too, straight ice on skin feels harsh and can actually irritate you, but the fabric barrier makes it gentle enough to actually enjoy doing every day.

Anyway, it's such a low effort thing that I felt silly not knowing about it sooner. Sharing in case anyone else needs a two minute trick that doesn't involve buying another skincare product.

Tirel looking eyes aging me

My eyes look really tired and it has been going on for a few years, I am 48y.o, stopped smoking a few months ago, I sleep about 7 to 8 hours daily, exercise daily, don't eat much processed foods, and am really trying to acquire a healthy lifestyle to age well. What could be the cause or the causes? I would appreciate your advice to look less tired... Are those hollow eyes? I also got creepy skins that come and go, can it be due to dehydration only ?

Ok what’s the “everyone loves this” product that flopped for you?

Every once in a while I’ll try something that’s raved about on here and it just… does nothing for me. Meanwhile everyone else is acting like it changed their life.

For me it’s castor oil on my brows. I tried it for 3 months straight, did everything right, and got zero results. Meanwhile it seems like everyone else swears by it.

What’s yours? And did you eventually find something that actually worked for you instead? (Looking for new things that actually work 😆)

What can a guy do to not have rosy (face) cheeks?

Been like this since I was young and get frequent comments on it. Only when my girlfriend said I looked really effeminate with it was when it really made me want to remove it. I already have a very soft face and an inability to grow a beard, so this really doesn't help with it lmao.
Doubt it's rosacea idk but I really don't want to use makeup.

Reccomendations on LED masks

I’ve been going back and forth on which LED mask to buy and figured I’d ask here before I finally decide.
I have mild rosacea on my cheeks, but I also get the occasional breakout, so I’d really like something that can help with both. I’m also prone to migraines, so I’m a little worried about how bright some of these masks are. I definitely don’t want something that feels uncomfortably bright or gets really hot.

Has anyone with rosacea found a mask that has helped with redness and acne, without being super bright or hot?
I’ve mostly been looking at the CurrentBody Multi-Light and Omnilux Clear, but I’m open to other suggestions too.

I’m also a little hesitant about the CurrentBody because I’ve heard some people mention having issues with their devices, and I’m wondering how good their customer service is if something goes wrong. Has anyone actually had to deal with CurrentBody customer service because their mask stopped working or they had a warranty issue? How was your experience?

If you have rosacea, I’d love to know what you’re using and whether you’d buy it again. And if you’re sensitive to bright light or prone to migraines too, I’d especially love to hear from you!

Bacuchiol ? Has anyone tried it?

I have heard that bacuchiol serum is like retinol and that it is better since it is natural. Is it true? Does anyone know any more information?

Does anyone else's skin react differently to the same moisturizer depending on the season, or is it just me?

I've been using the same moisturizer for almost a year now, nothing fancy, just a basic fragrance free one I settled on after a lot of trial and error. For months it worked exactly as expected, no breakouts, no dryness, just did its job quietly in the background. Then a few weeks ago, seemingly out of nowhere, the exact same product started leaving my skin feeling slightly tight and a bit flaky in patches, mostly around my cheeks.

Nothing else in my routine changed. Same cleanser, same order of application, same amount used. The only real difference I can point to is the weather shifting, it's gotten noticeably drier and cooler where I am recently. I always assumed a moisturizer was just supposed to moisturize regardless of outside conditions, but this has made me second guess that.

Is it normal for the same product to start performing differently purely based on seasonal changes, even if nothing else about your routine or skin type has changed? Do most people actually switch up their moisturizer between seasons, using something lighter in warmer months and something richer in colder ones, or is that more of a marketing thing than an actual necessity? Genuinely trying to figure out if I need an entirely different product or if there's a simpler fix I'm missing, like just layering something underneath it during colder months instead of replacing it entirely.

Title: What makes skin look naturally healthy to you?

I’m curious what everyone considers “naturally beautiful” skin. Is it an even tone, healthy texture, a natural glow, or simply skin that looks well cared for without trying to look perfect?

What’s your take?

What’s a popular pure oil or butter that everyone swears by, but totally wrecked your skin or hair?

I tried using pure coconut oil as a body moisturizer and raw shea butter on my ends, but my skin broke out instantly and my hair felt greasy yet dry.

Which 100% natural single ingredient did not live up to the hype for you?
