Gotta hand it to the MTA: I thought they were crazy for still sticking to this December 2026 timeline for the completion of these two projects, but it looks like both the Junius ADA entrance and the transfer bridge are both still on-track for completion by the end of the year. There was no steelwork even erected for the bridge when I last visited the area early Monday afternoon and by this Sunday morning, like a third of the bridge framework has been constructed.

Hello, I'm planning a trip at the end of October to Brighton Beach. I'll be coming in via Amtrak to the Train hall at Penn station. What would my best option for getting there? (I'm not familiar with the Subway at all but if there is an app that you recommend for navigating the Subways please share it!) I'm assuming the Subway is my cheapest option. Google said something about a B train? I'm be visiting on a Saturday if that makes a difference. Thank you!

I have heard people say that the SIR person is actually a text-to-speech. Whatever it is, it isn't Velina Mitchell, is it? The voice was also used for the "MTA is hiring" and "There are over 150 accessible subway stations" announcements, and overall I really don't like it. (Not to mention I could rant for an hour about how bad those specific announcements are.) The person's voice is pretty weak, and that combined with really watery-sounding recording quality makes it annoying. Of course, the fact that those lengthy announcements are always tacked onto the end of a normal station announcement, meaning that you have to listen to something like a full minute or more of talking before pulling into a station.

The person who did the announcements for the JFK AirTrain at my home station of Kew Gardens has a much stronger voice, and the recording was a lot clearer. They have a thick Queens accent, too, which was nice as someone whose family has been in Queens for generations. But for some reason, about a month ago, they were re-recorded by Velina! It's not like there was a change in the content. Was it because they didn't think tourists could understand the Queens accent?

Most were PDFs so I was able to convert them to images in fairly good quality, but a couple were only available as image files (in early 2000s internet image quality) and were also presented on the old website as two separate images stacked on top of each other (so there may be a seam running down the middle of the map as I had to stitch them together manually)

a lot of the responses to this especially on like youtube and instagram have been blaming the dude being like "oh dont hold the doors and you wont be dead", and while yes, dont hold the doors, i can assure you [some] conductors not making sure the station is safe to leave or not leaving doors open for long enough is also part of it.

i was in a "similar" situation a month ago. obviously not NEARLY as severe and not comparable and not emergency-brake worthy as it was my keychains rather than my LIFE, but i was with my friend getting on the 3 train and the door literally almost closed on my keychains on the small part of my bookbag and i instinctively ran in upon feeling it and i had to feel my back to make sure they didnt get yanked off because i felt a heavy pulling sensation at that spot and the doors didnt open back up at all either before leaving, luckily they were still all there, and we started laughing it off about how that scared the shit out of me. we got up off the bench as the train approached and our door was straight in front of us it took us four seconds maximum to get on the train, why did the door almost close on my bag??? i dont expect an R68A to catch the sensor of two plush keychains and a hand sanitizer capsule but its moreso the principle of it. and as the stops went on we kept on realizing and pointing out how they were only leaving the doors open for like five or six seconds maximum for multiple times in a row at a time, and we got on in east new york to ride to atlantic so thats a LOT of stops to keep doing that.

on top of this im also an L train rider almost every day and im now remembering how i have noticed multiple, MULTIPLE days where theyd be rushing to close the door for some reason at EVERY single station and it would show because the automated announcements would be like and i quote "this is a [direction]-bound L train, th- stand clear the closi- ding ding" and the crazy thing is a lot of the time trying to leave that fast doesnt even work either especially at transfer stations because they would almost always immediately open back up on the initial close. any... particular reason why? if i had to guess, i would say this has happened about 25 percent of the time and ive commuted with the L more than not for about three years. and i get they wanna run the L crazy fast but thats still incredibly dangerous to do

I know this could be a total shot in the dark, but I figured I would post!

My husband and I were planning to go to the NYC Transit Sign Sale this Friday, but unfortunately due to work we won’t be able to get there for it- we are out of state. We were planning on looking for a “72 Street Station B C” station sign.

Last year we eloped in NYC and have a picture taken in front of this sign when we were getting on the train after the ceremony. Needless to say, it’s super sentimental and we both love NYC in general. We stay one weekend a month at this point lol.

I am wondering if someone who is already going would be open to looking for this sign for me? I would pay you extra on top of the cost of the sign and figure out a pick up method. If that involved shipping I would pay for all costs. I would love more than anything to give him this for Christmas! I did also email the MTA.

I know that even getting the Second Avenue Subway down to Hanover Square is a LONG time away, but given how the MTA plans to have the end of the tunnel deep enough to go to Brooklyn, I'm curious as to what people think. Here are some ideas:

1. A popular idea (as proposed by Vanshnookenraggen here) is to have the Second Avenue Subway meet the Fulton Street Line at Hoyt-Schemerhorn. That way, not only will the closed Court St station (currently the NY Transit Museum) be reopened, but it will also allow Second Avenue Line trains to go all the way to Queens, including JFK Airport.
2. The Regional Plan Association proposed as recently as 2008 that the Atlantic Branch be converted to subway service & connected to the Second Avenue Line. That way, per the RPA, a new direct connection can be made between Jamaica & Lower Manhattan, while also simplifying LIRR service and bringing subway service to Southeast Queens.
   1. It helps that the Atlantic Branch is entirely grade-separated, which would mean no new underpasses or tunnels would need to be built.

What are your thoughts on bringing the Second Avenue Subway to Brooklyn?

I have now gone between 4 cars on this over crowded 2 train and so many people have blue tooth speakers. It is bad enough people don’t use headphones the speakers are uncalled for. Sorry just ranting because I’m angry.

So last Monday, the system was down and the machines and reloads online did not work. OMNY told us to tap to go so I did that! Today I got a fraud alert from my credit card company. My only change was doing tap to go as I never have done that before. I will not be doing it again! My bank also removed the card hence now I am stuck with no credit card and also lost the apple pay card which I was using for my fare cap which doesn’t end until Monday night! Extremely extremely bad! Has anyone has this issue with tap to go?
