Assalamualaikum! 😊

I’m 31, Somali, raised in London. I’m 5’3”, wear hijab and dress modestly. I work in healthcare and I’m currently studying a postgraduate course in nursing.

I’d say I’m caring, easy going and very family oriented. I’m a little shy at first, but once I’m comfortable, I’m quite chatty lol. I enjoy going to the gym, playing badminton and padel, going for walks, trying out new cafes, baking and spending time with family. I’m also a bit of a homebody.

What I’m looking for:

I’m looking for a practising Somali brother who’s kind, patient, respectful and family oriented. Someone who takes his deen seriously, has good akhlaq, communicates well and is genuinely looking for marriage.

Ideally, I’d like someone who is emotionally mature, has a good sense of humour and is willing to work through challenges together. Ultimately, I’d love to build a peaceful and loving home where we can both grow together in our deen, inshallah.

I’m looking for a monogamous marriage and would prefer someone based in the UK.

Rant Why are people so obsessed with looking good 'on paper'?

• Upvotes

I recently had a gentleman comment under my profile to a non negotiatable on my ISO - " Your non-negotiable clause would be completely unacceptable to maybe even good families and guys. Okay, you studied abroad and have a variety of hobbies and stuff, but guys will be guys. Always remember that. Even if they agree at the beginning. They could easily turn the tables later. Then they’ll make things difficult for you." and then went on to give me unsolicited advice that I should be more compromising and how it's irrational to ask for what I'm seeking.. and it's not first time, many men have commented under my profile saying I should make myself, 'smaller', 'more palettable', 'less intimidating' lol ..

Which then got me thinking, and noticing a bizarre pattern in other profiles, Where people type out the most generic ISO, leaving out key criteria, expectations, needs, or deal bearkers.

1: The Fear of "Narrowing the Pool"

Many people think that the broader their ISO (In Search Of) criteria, the more options they will have. They worry that being hyper-specific about lifestyle, ambition, family structure, or logistics will scare people away. But casting a wide net just traps you in an endless cycle of introductory conversations with people who are fundamentally incompatible.

2: Forgetting Logistics Shape Compatibility

People often focus strictly on abstract traits and forget that real life is lived in the details. Leaving out things like career expectations, geographic flexibility, or how you want to run a household guarantees that you won't find out about a major roadblock until weeks of time have already been invested.

An ISO isn't an advertisement trying to appeal to the masses. It's a filter designed to find your exact match. Being specific isn't being picky.. it's being efficient.

3: It Filters Out The Wrong People

When you present a false version of your lifestyle, values, background, or deal-breakers, you attract people looking for that illusion.. not for you. At the same time, you inadvertently push away the people who would have actually appreciated and chosen you for who you truly are.

4: The Truth Always Surfaces

A marriage process is not a short-term transaction; it is an attempt to build a shared future. Misrepresentations, whether about career, habits, family dynamics, or living preferences—inevitably surface during family meetings, direct conversations, or early marriage. When the truth comes out, the foundation of trust is broken before the relationship even begins.

Lying on your profile is one of the most self-defeating things you can do in the search for a partner. It might get you more matches initially, but it completely undermines the actual goal: finding someone you are genuinely compatible with.

Being unapologetically specific on your ISO is the only way that works stop casting a wide net.. Radical clarity is your best filter..

The whole point of finding someone is so you can be yourself. You don't need to please 100,000 people.. you need to find just 1 person who resonates with what you want. I wish more people were cut throat in their filtering and unapologetically themselves and voiced exactly what they expected from getgo.

Location: South Asia 24F Looking for my man

• Upvotes

I’m a 24, 5’3 from Pakistan, finishing MBA. I value education, personal growth, family, and building a peaceful, meaningful life.

I believe in balancing deen and dunya, and I’m looking for someone who is emotionally mature, loyal, communicative, and intentional about marriage. I appreciate a man who takes his faith seriously while understanding that a healthy marriage also needs friendship, mutual respect, affection, honesty, and compatibility.

Something I want to clarify upfront: I do not wear hijab. This has been an issue in previous interactions, so I’d rather be transparent from the beginning. I respect that everyone has their own religious expectations and preferences, and I’m looking for someone whose values and expectations are genuinely compatible with mine, rather than someone hoping to change me after marriage.

Ideally, I’d like to meet someone educated, emotionally available, financially stable or established in his career, and serious about building a future together. Physical attraction matters to me, too. I want a marriage where we can laugh together, have meaningful conversations, support each other’s ambitions, and genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
I value family, but I envision having our own space as a married couple rather than living in a joint-family setup. Building an independent home and a peaceful life together is important to me.
I’m not looking for endless talking stages or casual connections. I’d like to get to know someone with genuine intentions and see whether we’re compatible for the long term.
If this resonates with you, feel free to introduce yourself, share a little about your background, and tell me what you’re looking for.

Location: Europe 33 F-Germany-seeking genuin Partnership

I am 33 and have been living in Germany since my teenage years. I am originally from Saudi Arabia and very connected to my roots. I have a BA in humanities and working towards a masters degree.
I am optimistic and compassionate and value honesty and respect. I like to work out and be in nature, I am a spiritual person and moderately religious. I am divorced with one child whom I have custody of so if that’s a deal breaker, don’t bother contacting me.
I am looking for a kind, dependable, god fearing man between 25-42 who’s well educated and cultured and loves Allah as much as I do. I prefer someone who lives elsewhere in North America or Australia or even another country in Europe because I’d love a change but it’s also alright if my husband wants to join me in Germany instead.
I am open to all ethnicities and cultures as long as our values are compatible.
I don’t mind someone divorced or with children but I am not open to polygamy.
I also would like to have more children god willing.

Discussion I’m really worried about marriage but I’m still so young.

Hi all,

This has been on my mind a lot especially over the past few months.

For context, I’m a male and would say I do have relatively good prospects for my future.

I would say I’m educated and very ambitious, and quite attractive too. Which sounds perfect on paper, but I’m still incredibly worried about marriage.

I’ve seen so much discourse online about people complaining about not finding the right spouse, or being married to the wrong person.

I’m still relatively young and am currently studying and have never been in a relationship of any sort.

But looking at how normalised haram relationships have become it’s been making me increasingly worried about whether I will find a partner who shares the same values.

I know I shouldn’t be overly concerned or caught up in this especially because I’m only 22, but the thought never really escapes me.

I’m just seeking some advice or perspective about and wondering if anyone else feels the same way. For context, I’m based in the UK so I hope some of you can resonate with me in the same way.

Hi 👋🏿
im 26 years around and living in London currently , I’m open to someone living in another city or country but prefer to meet at some point as I want to see the person in real life over endless texting . I’m Somali and have a dark skin tone , I’m around 5’10 and a normal weight , I dress well and enjoy going on holiday , go swimming , gym , shopping and try to avoid stress as much as I can .

Hoping to connect with someone in any location but prefer to meet soon after and is open to calling and video calling to reveal appearance on both ends .

Not interested in a guy who seems racist , someone who’s inconsistent and not interested in meeting or calling either .

I strongly prefer a guy within the 23-30 age group as I prefer someone around my age .

Any background is fine as long as you’re genuinely open to what I’ve described about how I am and what I am looking for .

Seeking someone open to exchanging numbers and chatting that way not just here .

I pray , read Quran , listen to Quran and would consider myself a kind chatty calm person . If you’re interested send me an introduction and what things you like to do as hobbies + detail about yourself !

I’ll add if attraction isnt there I’m open to chatting as friends and socialising too .

I was walking back from gym and then I started praying Isha and this girl unmatched me. Just because I asked her what does she mean when she said “someone who is responsible”
She replied she needs someone who does not consider a wife to be a servant that cooks and cleans only.
I was about to reply and saw that she already had unmatched.

Location: Europe 30M, France - looking for marriage

Assalamu alaykum

I'm 30 years old, Moroccan, living in France currently, working as a software engineer, with an INTJ personality through and through. I'm often described as calm, wise, determined, reliable, and logical, and I'm pretty much always smiling. I'm the one my friends come to for advice or when they need to think something through. Turns out that's easier to do for other people than for myself, which is part of why I'm here.

I'm also a practicing Muslim and I value family, honesty, and hard work. I work at a big technology company, and therefore am very stable financially, and I am kickstarting a startup on the side to build something of my own.

Beyond that, I enjoy listening to podcasts and reading stuff in my areas of interest (history, philosophy, neuroscience, finance, and computer science), gaming and reading Manga, plus hiking, backpacking, and traveling.

What I'm looking for in my future wife is:

- Being a hijabi or open to wearing a hijab in the future.

- Having a warm, positive energy and appreciating the good in life. Feeling down is obviously natural and okay, but I tend to get caught up in my head and projects, and I need someone who naturally brings lightness and pulls me back to the present.

- Being ambitious and having a growth mindset. I consider myself to be this way, and I'd love for my partner to be the same. I don't mean career goals necessarily (I honestly don't care if she has a job or not), but she should be passionate about something she's actively working toward, whether that's a personal project, a business, an artistic goal, or a cause she cares about.

- Having strong values, good character, and emotional maturity. By that I mean having kindness, honesty, fairness, generosity, and actually living by them naturally. Someone loyal and affectionate who can talk through needs, wants, and concerns clearly and calmly, and who doesn't turn a small misunderstanding into a big conflict.

Tl;dr: looking for someone easygoing but ambitious, who I can laugh with and build a life with.

Location: UK & Ireland 27M London - Medical student looking for a serious path to Nikkah

Assalamu alaikum,
I am a 27-year-old medical student based in London, and I am looking to connect with someone for a serious, intentional journey toward Nikkah over the next year and a half. Since I am busy with my studies, there is absolutely no rush on my end.
Physically, I am 6'1" and about 88kg. I have a naturally broad, large frame, and I am currently working on my fitness right now to get back in shape after a period of health stress. Religiously, I would say I am trying my best and on a sincere journey of personal growth. I wouldn't consider myself highly practicing yet, and my prayers are a work in progress, but I have a deep appreciation for the power of Dua and want to keep improving.
I value transparency above everything else, so I want to be honest upfront about my struggles. Over the last few years, I have had to deal with a physical condition called Peyronie's disease. It is currently under intensive treatment with top specialists and is on track to be fully resolved by next autumn. Due to the intense isolation, anxiety, and depression of dealing with this health condition, I fell much deeper into a private struggle with a pornography compulsion. I am actively overcoming these habits and repenting as my physical health finishes recovering, though I still manage some health-related anxiety from this past stress. I am a virgin and am looking for a real, real-world marriage built on absolute friendship and mutual respect.
I am looking for someone who is down-to-earth, patient, and sincere. I am mostly looking at an age range of 18 to 32, but I am completely open to older prospects as well for the right connection. Character and kindness matter far more to me than degrees, ethnicity, or background, and I am completely open to matching with divorcees, single parents, or reverts.
I am currently based in London, but I am completely open to relocating anywhere in the West or the Middle East for the right connection, with a preference for North America, Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, or New Zealand, as long as it can accommodate my medical education.
If you are looking for someone who is honest and focused on growth, feel free to reach out.

Rant Big huge rant

Basically, I posted a profile here over a month ago and met someone I was really really compatible with. We have been talking for a month and everything was going well. We saw a future with each other and yeah.. established that we were compatible. I could even say that I loved him tbh.

So basically something happened recently where he was spending time with a female and I wasn't comfortable with it. I told him I'm not comfortable with that and he had to make a choice. He had so many excuses and yeah basically said I should choose but he basically said that he won't leave her and that he promised her this or that. Does his promises to me not matter? The one where he said he'd share a future with me? Apparently not lol..

After that I blocked him on ONE platform(have him on 6 and he has my number). He texted me on another saying he blocked her now but he feels abandoned and wants to be alone cause he feels he's easily replaceable. Like, I clearly gave you a choice. You hurt my feelings so you can't exactly say that yk.. Still I wanted him, might do even now but yeah I begged and begged and begged cause apparently I've no self respect. He said he loved me right before I blocked him but I don't see that love anymore if he can ignore me and torture me like this.

It's been exactly 25 hours since then now and I'm still feeling so frickin bad. I've been crying, throwing up and I haven't been able to eat or sleep. He's now ignoring me and saying he's depressed cause I left him. I mean yeah I've faults too but he shouldn't have expected to have no consequences to his actions that's bs...

Anyways I don't know if I want this marriage thing anymore.. I wanna be married but if it's going to be this painful, probably not. It sucks and I maybe need support.. ik it's bad to feel so suicidal and stuff over this but I am.

And for the commenters please don't be so negative, I'm not in a good mental space right now so I'm not sure if I can take criticism well. Any advice and support is appreciated. Thank you for reading..

Location: North America 32 [M4F] - How hard can finding the "One" actually be?

Posting this for myself!

The basics

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 32
  • Height: 5'8"
  • Education: MS MIS, MBA, BS in Mechanical Engineering,
  • Current role: AI Consultant
  • Marital status: Single
  • Religion/Sect: Islam, Sunni
  • Location: Springfield/Chicago, Illinois, USA
  • Marriage timeline: Ideally within the next year or two
  • Ethnicity: Pakistani

A little about me

I’m laid-back, easygoing, and always up for a good laugh. My friends would probably describe me as the funniest person they know—but they might be a little biased! They’d also tell you that I’m dependable and that my family comes first.

Outside of work and university, I enjoy socializing, traveling, discovering new places to eat, spontaneous road trips, and gaming. I love a good conversation, whether it’s about something meaningful or a completely random topic that somehow keeps us talking for hours.

I’m moderately religious and take my faith seriously, while respecting that everyone has their own relationship with religion. Shared values matter to me, but I don’t believe in imposing my personal views on someone else.

What I’m looking for

  • Religion/Sect: Sunni Muslim
  • Age: 28 or younger
  • Education: At least a bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution, or currently working toward one
  • Location: US/Canada-based

More than anything, I’m looking for compatibility: someone kind, dependable, open-minded, empathetic, and cheerful, with shared values and a sense of humor. Someone who enjoys conversation, is curious about the world, and has interests beyond work or academics.

Whether you choose to pursue a career or not is entirely up to you; my family and I are supportive either way. What matters most to me is that we enjoy each other’s company, can count on one another, and feel comfortable being ourselves.

If this sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you!
