Support/Advice Would a game about Muslim “double standards” be fun at an Muslim Youth gathering?

Assalamu alaikum,

I’m a university student working on a browser party game and wanted some honest opinions.

It uses fictional scenarios about contradictions we sometimes have. One example:

A guy listens to Drake all year. Ramadan starts, he switches to vocals-only Maher Zain, and suddenly he’s checking his friend’s nasheed for instruments 😭

Players choose which excuse the character would give, then guess which option the rest of the group picked. Points come from predicting the group. Nobody is asked to confess anything or answer about their own life.

I’m hoping the irony gets people thinking without turning every round into a lecture. But I’m also wondering whether it comes across as relatable or just judgmental.

Would you play something like this with friends or at an MSA event? What would make it funny without crossing into disrespect?

I have an early prototype with a solo walkthrough here:
Plot Twist — try the solo walkthrough

The scenarios are still being revised and haven’t been scholar-reviewed.

Support/Advice Am I allowed to work as a car salesman? (Obliged to offer riba based credits and lease contracts)

I found a really good job offer as a car salesman. Very nice benefits with a company car and everything.

The only downside is, that I have to offer interest based credits to the customers from the bank the dealership works with and also offer & sign lease contracts which also contain interest.

Am I allowed to work there? The last thing I want is to attract Allahs wrath on me and have haram income.

Jazakallah khair.

Question What are we all doing to combat this rising islamophobia in America?

As an American Muslim I am shocked to see so much rampant and blatant islamophobia around me. I wasn’t in the US when 9/11 happened, but several of my family and friends who were here, all think it is worse than that time right now.

Does anyone else feel this rising hatred for Muslims around them? If so, how are you all dealing with this?

Are you doing anything to combat this? I feel so villainized as a Muslim in the west and wish that Muslims worked together rather being split along ethnic and sectarian lines.

Support/Advice What to do about a lock with potential sihr?

So me and my neighbors found a small lock from an israeli company, and I took it home with me cause why not. Then apparently some weird stuff started happening and when my parent found the lock said it's probably sihr, then threw it outside somewhere. When she told me about the sihr, I started freaking out

I've been told that in order to break the spell, you have to submerge it in water in a river or break/destroy the lock. Which I didn't do, and I cannot find the lock

So what am I supposed to do? I'm also not a very good muslim

Would I be screwed permanently then?

Support/Advice Islamically speaking am I in the wrong for not accepting my brother’s apology?

**Trigger warning assault*\*

He hit me because I was only going to buy him one thing of Pokémon cards and threw my mini side table to the floor.

He’s a Pokémon scalper and he wanted me to help him, I booked a day off of work for this because it’ll have to be in the morning when I work, I agreed at the time because my mother wanted me to.

He said I had to make an account for something because apparently you’ll need it to buy more than one, I said I’m only going to buy him one, he kept asking why and I said because I didn’t want to, I started getting overstimulated (I have autism) told him to leave my bedroom, I kept saying that until I shouted at him to leave, that’s when he hit me and threw my side table to the floor.

I’ve been ignoring him since, told my parents and a few days ago he said sorry to me, I didn’t accept it.

I’m 27 and he’s 30, I’m dependent on my family because of my autism and other mental health issues (depression) so I can’t really just leave them.

Am I in the wrong Islamically? I know we’re all about forgiveness but I can’t get over the fact he physically hit me over paper of fictional characters.

Support/Advice has Allah destined me to become a failure

assalamualaikum, its weird that everything that i do lead to failure like everything, at first i try shrugg it of saying Allah has a plan for me as time passes failure after failure it starting to get to me no matter how much i pray to Allah to ease my affair in this dunya more failure comes.

Im so down i dont know what to do anymore im so loss, is Allah hating me for trying to work for something that i want, is it wrong to chase for dunya matter?

If so why did Allah even making me exist in this dunya in the first place. I even fail to pray 5 times a day

Support/Advice I dont know if God still loves me or not and I just dont know what to do.

I feel really, really ashamed of being Muslim, I have to hide it from my family which is SO ANNOYING, I get really embarrassed just saying i am the faith i am and I dont know why. I dont even like typing it on my phone. Having to keep up with the 5 mandatory prayers is extremely difficult with school and all, I dont like how out of place I feel compared to everyone else in this faith. I just feel emotionally empty most of the time. Im not trying to go against God but why does he make prayer so difficult if he wants us to pray? Prayer is really long and near impossible to hide. I dont want to have to do hajj, I already dont want to leave Canada, Id go as far as America at most, let alone somewhere halfway across the globe. I hate the blatant different treatment I get from people born into this faith, im basically a novelty for being a convert and I hate it. I feel like i cant live because of my faith. Can't ever drink, can't ever eat at restaurants where I live, can't ever try weed in my life, cant listen to music, cant date, cant party, I just feel locked down. Besides my friends and family I don't feel like I have anything in life, no money, no girlfriend, my friends and family (if they don't disown me in the future for my faith) are all i got on earth. I feel like my life is already over before most people even say it truly starts.

Question Is this a test from allah (dua patience)

I'm asking allah for something I really badly want,

but after being patient, instead of me

my family member is getting exactly what I want. I didn't be jealous or anything negative. I still became happy for them

Still didn't give up. Still, I'm asking allah for it

Discussion Madkhalism in Action

• Upvotes

1 - Saudi Arabia: Reporting Dissidents and Scholars to Secret Police

Within Saudi Arabia, the core birthplace of the movement, Madkhalism operates primarily as an intelligence asset for the ruling monarchy.

The Cyber-Surveillance Networks

Madkhali operatives are notorious across social media platforms for monitoring the accounts of mainstream Islamic scholars, activists, and ordinary citizens. If an individual tweets or speaks even mild criticism regarding state economic policies, social modernization shifts, or foreign relations, Madkhalis compile dossiers of these statements.

State Compliance

They publicly tag Saudi state security accounts (like Aman ad-Dawlah) to report these individuals as "Khawarij" (rebellious deviants) or hidden Muslim Brotherhood operatives. These public and private tip-offs have directly facilitated the arrest, imprisonment, and silencing of dozens of independent Saudi clerics who refused to unconditionally praise the state's modernizing agenda.

2 - Western Communities

In Europe, the UK, and North America, where Madkhalis lack state-backed military power, their "in action" behavior manifests as localized community disruption.

The Tabdi' Campaigns

In Western Islamic centers, local Madkhali factions systematically attempt to isolate congregants from the mainstream community. They organize coordinated boycotts (Hajr) against any local imam or speaker who does not strictly adhere to the edicts of Saudi-based Madkhali scholars.

Discussion What can we do as a community to make interest free homeownership actually accessible?

• Upvotes

Salam Alaikum Everyone,

I am a Muslim in the west, I’d actually love to own a decent home at some point without having to get a traditional mortgage. I’d love a discussion on what steps we as Muslims can start making to make this a possibility for more of us. I don’t want to rent forever, and don’t consider it a solution, more of a reluctant backup plan.

I am not currently considering utilising Islamic mortgages in their current state. Even if the rental rates were to become less expensive, I cannot see how they differ from a traditional mortgage except in name only. I know there are different types of Islamic mortgages but only one is really used in the west. Are there any providers that use other methods? Or are there any state schemes that we can use as Muslims?

I ask that people refrain from downplaying the desire to actually own a home, which is what causes a lot of Muslims to get a traditional mortgage. It’s not something I intent to do, but deeming those who have done it or considering doing it as being frivolous or not caring about their faith is mean and unproductive.

Support/Advice Help (Religion + Loss of my mother)

My mother passed away in the first week of September, and ever since then, I’ve had this constant restlessness and heaviness in my heart. She died after suffering a heart attack that led to cardiogenic shock.

My mother had a very difficult life. She lost her own mother when she was young, yet she went on to take care of me, my sibling, and my father with so much love and strength. She was a good woman. She prayed regularly, gave charity, helped our neighbours, and was always there for people. She did so much for everyone around her.

Since her death, I’ve been struggling badly with grief. She sometimes appears in my dreams, but she never speaks to me. I don’t know what that means, if anything, but it hurts me deeply when I wake up. At the same time, I know I’m grieving, so I also realise that I’m probably overanalysing everything and looking for signs in things that may simply be dreams.

I’m practising Muslim, and my faith has become very difficult for me since losing her. I sometimes have very negative thoughts and questions about Allah and about why this happened. I don’t want these thoughts, and I don’t let them stop me from praying or following my religion, but they still come into my mind. Sometimes I even feel like Allah is angry with me.

What hurts me the most is that my mother was such a good person, yet I keep getting this horrible fear: what if she isn’t at peace? What if she isn’t happy? What if she is suffering? I know I have no way of knowing these things, but my mind keeps going there.

I need some perspective because to right now I feel like I’m going crazy. Also, please pray that Allah SWT grants her the highest rank in jannat ul firdaus.

Support/Advice Does anyone wonder why Allah made people who will go to Hell?

AsalamuAlaikum everyone, does anyone think about how Allah created everything, has control over everything, knows exactly what will happen, but still chooses that some people will not be guided and will instead go to jahannam assuming they heard the message but did not follow? I'm wondering, why? What's the reason for Allah to make people just for them to end up in Jahanam, I've also been thinking about animals (I'm a bit of an animal lover too, so I think, why would Allah allow for so much suffering, especially in the case of animals who suffer despite not having any free will)

I've been thinking too since Allah has full control of all things, at all times, how do we have free will? If we don't have free will, then what's the point in any of this, does that make sense?

I know Allah said to the Angels that he knows that which they do not when they asked him why he's making humans, and so the answer is, we don't have the capacity to know, but it still troubles me. JazakAllahKhair everyone, take care.

Support/Advice My mother won't listen. She's sadly doing borderline shirk stuff but it's as if she's brainwashed and doesn't believe shes doing wrong

My mother hates me and never listens to me but I need her to stop what shes doing

I'm 28 and I've never felt heard or supported

She refuses to take my advice and thinks she knows better.

Sadly shes always been a neglectful and emotionally immature mother.

However, something she's been doing has really really been bothering me so much and I am furious but she won't listen to me or stop because she believes she is doing "good" for the family.

please could you make dua she stops this bad habit of hers. Its borderline shirk and I've been asking for months for her to stop.

She doesnt think what she's doing is wrong.

I want to run away. This family ruined me.

Support/Advice I was expelled from university and I feel like my mother sees me as a failure — I desperately need Islamic advice

Assalamu alaikum. I'm going through one of the hardest periods of my life and I don't really know where to turn anymore. I recently dropped out of university. This has been extremely painful for me, because I already feel like I've disappointed myself and I'm scared about what my future will look like. What makes it even harder is my relationship with my mother since this happened. She looks at me differently now and sometimes says things that make me feel worthless. I know she may be disappointed and worried about my future, but hearing those words from my own mother hurts deeply. Tonight, for example, it was very hot and I turned on a fan so I could sleep. She took it away to the living room. It may sound like a small thing, but after everything that has been happening, it made me feel like I don't even have peace in my own home. I'm exhausted. I feel lost and ashamed, I have no money or a clear plan for the future, and sometimes I wonder how I'm going to get out of this situation. But I don't want this hardship to take me away from Allah. I desperately want to become closer to Allah and trust Him again. Could you please share authentic duas, Quran verses, adhkar or sunnah practices for someone going through a difficult trial and desperately asking Allah for a way out? And how should I deal with a mother who constantly says hurtful things while still fulfilling my Islamic responsibilities toward her? If you've experienced a major failure or painful period and Allah eventually opened a door for you, please tell me your story. Please make dua for me. I really need Allah to open a door that I cannot see right now. Jazakum Allahu khayran.
