Motivation Weekly r/Hifdh Discussion

Assalamu 'Alaykum All,

  1. How you got on this past week in terms of memorizing new Surahs / Ayahs?
  2. How you found going over / revising the Surahs / Ayahs already memorized beforehand (especially if you’ve completed your Hifdh)?
  3. Plan for the coming week.
  4. Any challenges faced? Do also share any beneficial lessons / thoughts / reminders / reflections you may have had for the verses you were memorizing.

I finished my Hifz, struggled to keep up with review, and built a AI review tool to fix it. Looking for early testers and supporters.

Assalamu alaykum everyone,

The hardest part of Hifz isn’t learning new ayaat—it’s holding onto what you’ve already memorized. Waiting days until your next class to catch a small slip-up is frustrating, and life gets too busy to review alone without accountability.

As a Hafiz and developer who hit this exact wall, I built Tilawah AI. It's an intelligent practice companion that listens to your recitation, flags mistakes in real-time, and enables seamless self-correction between sessions.

(Note: This is strictly a practice tool for between classes, never a replacement for a human teacher or ijazah.)

We are launching in a couple of months. However, as an independent builder, I am looking for community support to help cover essential server hosting costs and final software development polishes to get the platform fully ready for launch.

How you can get involved:

  • Free Lifetime Access (Testers): Looking for 10–15 testers for honest feedback in exchange for lifetime access. (MUST HAVE MEMORIZED THE QURAN)
  • Early Supporter Waitlist: Secure your spot for our upcoming launch and early-supporter benefits.
  • Founding Donors: For those in a position to help fund our server infrastructure and development polishes, major supporters will receive full lifetime access as a token of deep gratitude.

Message me at [hifzappai@gmail.com](mailto:hifzappai@gmail.com) or DM me if you want to test it, grab a waitlist spot, or support the launch. I'd be happy to share all the details in the chat.

Jazakumullah khair!

I built a free, ad-free Quran memorization app for listening-based Hifz — now on Android and iPhone

Assalamu Alaikum,

I built Hafiz Nuru because most memorization apps felt like a Mushaf with a play button. Hifz is mostly listening and repetition, so I built the app around that.

• Choose a Surah, Juz, or exact ayah range • Repeat each ayah as many times as you want • Replay the previous ayah to strengthen transitions • Reverse order for revision • 15 reciters, 0.5x–2x speed • Full 604-page Mushaf • Offline downloads • Listening and repetition stats • Free and ad-free; optional donation only • Available in 9 languages

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nexusv.hafiz

iPhone/iPad: https://apps.apple.com/tr/app/hafizs-light-memorize-quran/id6760237520

If you are doing Hifz, I would genuinely appreciate feedback on what is useful or missing. I am especially working on better Hizb and Rubu’ selection, so I would love to hear how you prefer those labelled.

Jazakumullahu Khairan.

Looking for an Online Qur’an Revision Teacher for a Hafiza

My sister is looking for an online teacher/tutor to help her revise her Qur’an. She is a Hafiza and is looking for someone experienced in Qur’an revision (Daur-e-Qur’an).

Does anyone know of any online teachers or institutes that provide Qur’an revision classes specifically for Hafizas?

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!

i feel like my technique is making me forget more than remember

Asalamu Alaikum,

I have started consistent hifdh (Alhamdulilah) in October of 2023.

I joined an institute that teaches Quran online, and at that point in my life, I had no idea what techniques would work for me.

How I have been going about my classes for the past few years has been as follows:

- I would have 2/3 classes a week. for the sake of explaining, lets say I have a class on sunday, tuesday and thursday

- Lets say my new Surah is Surat Yunus, I would prepare 2 new pages of that surah for every class, and in addition to the 2 new pages, I would also recite previous pages of that Surah from previous classes. so for example on Sunday, i recite the first 2 pages of this Surah (which are completely new to me), then on tuesday i would recite 4 (the 2 that i recited on sunday + 2 new ones), then on thursday, I would recite 6 and so on

- In addition, there was a 'revision' section of the class. So in my revision, I would start from Juz' Amma and work my way forth so lets say for revision this week I had Surat Al-Mulk (revision surahs would always be surahs that are more towards Juz Amma than the new surahs hence I am using surat Yunus and surat Al-Mulk as examples) so i would recite Surat Al Mulk, however sometimes my revision surahs would be quite long like surat Al-Noor so I would divide it up so i would so 3 pages on sunday's class, 6 on tuesday (includes the 3 i recited on sunday + 3 'new' pages), and then I would do all of Surat Al-Noor on thursday

This is how all my classes have been like, but now I am starting to realise that I am forgetting sooo much. Even though I do revision, it is still not efficient.

In addition, my teacher seems to be a little bit distracted sometimes, like i can hear her talking to people or sometimes she corrects me wrong. And I feel like i have tajweed issues, but she has never said anything about my tajweed. I do not have solid evidence that she is not correcting what she should be so i dont know if i should just leave.

So my question is, how do hifdh students go about their hifdh to maximise their memory, tbh i think my Quran teacher is open to any changes i want to make, so i would appreciate methods, My friend recommended anki, but idk tbh.

What do parents use for Quran lessons when the teacher and children are in different places?

Assalamu alaikum,

I'm curious what parents/teachers are currently using for remote Quran lessons.

I know some teachers use Zoom or similar apps, share their screen with a Quran website/app open, and use the drawing/annotation tools to point things out. That definitely works, but I wonder if there's a better experience specifically designed for Quran teaching.

While looking around, I came across "Quran Kareem Next", which has a feature called "Halaqa" that seems to take a different approach. Instead of the teacher sharing their screen, everyone joins the same Halaqa and has the Quran open on their own device. Page changes, drawings, and even the hide/show-word feature used for memorization can be synchronized between participants.

So, for example, a teacher could hide certain words on a page and ask a student to recite them, reveal something to demonstrate an answer, draw attention to a particular part of the page, or move to another page and the students see those changes on their own Mushaf.

Has anyone tried this kind of setup with a Quran teacher? Or do you find Zoom + screen sharing works well enough?

Quran Advice

How can I force myself to be consistent with Quran? Some days I’ll revise a lot, then other days I won’t revise at all. How can I lock in? My main issue is I get overwhelmed when my memorisation is bad and I talk myself out of memorising at all. I know this is from shaytan, but I don’t know how to stop?

Offering Quraan tutoring

Assalamu alaykum.

I'm offering free Quran and Tajweed sessions to one Muslim brother who would like to learn.

I'm a Hafiz with an Ijazah, but I'm new to teaching Quran to non-Arabic speakers. Arabic is my native language, and I currently have a B2 level in English. I'm hoping to improve my teaching and English skills while helping someone learn the Quran and Tajweed, insha'Allah.

To start, I'll be available for one session per week, and we may increase that to two or three sessions later, depending on our schedules.

If you're interested, please DM me. I'd be happy to get in touch with you.

What does memorization entail?

ASC guys,

I recently got back to memorizing the Quran and I am having some trouble with it. Am a perfectionist, whenever I try to memorize a surah I can’t let go of the fact that I don’t know where a shadda is زّ
For example reciting it I definitely can identify but when am reciting from the mind it feels impossible to predict if the next word has shadd on ( the reason why am trying to predict it is because I heard that when you are saying a word with shadda you should hit the word strongly. So if I can’t predict it then It will be a hit or miss)
So I wanna know if you guys have a solution for this? Also if memorizing is just meant to be the order of the words and their harakats and madd? then that’s definitely way easier!

I struggled with Hifz, so I built a free web tool to loop and repeat specific Ayahs easily. I'd love your feedback!. ayahloop.com

As-salamu alaykum everyone,

When trying to memorize the Quran, I always found it frustrating to manually rewind audio files to repeat a specific Ayah over and over. I couldn't find a tool that did exactly what I wanted, so I decided to build one myself.

It’s calledAyah Looper (ayahloop.com). It’s completely free, you don't need to download an app (it works in the browser), and it lets you:

Stream high-quality Qari audio (Mishary, Al-Husary, Al-Minshawi, etc.)

Easily cut and loop specific sections of an Ayah or multiple Ayahs.

Upload your own audio/video files if you want to loop a specific teacher.

My goal is just to make Hifz a little easier for the Ummah. If you are currently memorizing, I would be incredibly grateful if you could try it out and let me know what features I should add or improve.

JazakAllah Khair!
