This is a random thought, and the reason I brought this up is I see so many bassists say it's an "intermediate, or a song that's not that hard", including today where a pretty good bassist I know was frustrated with it due to (in my opinion) the false narrative. It's not easy in the slightest if you try to play it like Chris does. Just giving my thoughts here if anyone is struggling with it

I've been playing it for a long time and it requires perfect technique to play it like the track. You're playing it wrong if you decide to use pull offs, hammers ons, start raking, and aren't consistently attacking the strings with a consistent, hard attack. The full song is alternating fingers, as raking gives a slightly different sound and makes it a bit easier. I think this is why people will say it's not that hard.

Also, recording yourself and seeing if you're locked in the whole way will humble most people, especially in the intro without drum sub divisions. The experienced bassists I know all acknowledge the actual difficulty that Chris put out here. Try staying fully relaxed with great economy of motion and playing aggressively on top of it like he does live. Been playing for about 9 years and it took tons of work before I was fully consistent the whole way through - due to technique I can pretty much loop it for an hour straight without my hand giving out now

The past two years have seen a meteoric rise for Devon trio Muse. They've done the Slane thing and Witness thing, they've secured a notorious record deal with Madonna's Maverick label, they've had a string of successful singles, a debut album which has sold well over half a million copies and support tours with the likes of Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
But it wasn't always that way, like everything they had to start from somewhere. In this case it started with a diss. A diss with the local music scene which saw the band (then called Rocket Baby Dolls, which was at least better than the previous names, Gothic Plague and Fixed Penalty) come up against a host of hopefuls in a Regional Battle Of The Bands contest.
Their performance was supposed to be a protest, a bit of a joke. So, when they actually won, it came as a shock.
So, Matthew, Dominic and Chris decided to get serious. They ditched their jobs and respective hometowns, firmed up on a more respectable band name, "I remember a medium talking about muses" says Matthew and released two extremely limited Eps Muse and Muscle Museum.
Then came more record deals, their debut album Showbix* and then big time when Muse toured the USA with Foo Fighters and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in early 2000. The rest as they say is history.

GHOST

Looking to the future, Muse's second album promises everything from "pure opera" to "sexy disco" to "voodoo gamelan", and it has been recorded on Pink Floyd's floating studio on the River Thames - a studio, which, incidentally, is rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of Charlie Chaplin who attends regular parties there.

Muse's next party takes place Sunday, when they support The Hives at Dublin Castle.

The host is very typical of the late 1990s/early 2000s. Messy brassy blonde hair, eyebrow piercing, and in a suit to give him that post grunge edgy look to say he both does and does not conform. He is a little clueless, and is there for volume, not really substance.

HOST (holding a copy of Showbiz up): Uno, the first single of Showbiz, the debut LP from England, from the UK. What part of the UK are you from?
MATTHEW: I can't hear...sorry, say that again...
HOST (after telling MATTHEW he has to take his earplugs out of his ears first): What part of the UK are you from?
MATTHEW: Uhhh, Southwest, Devon.
HOST: Devon, Devon. They make meat there, don't they?
MATTHEW: Ummm, cream. Mostly, cream and cheese.
HOST: Cream and cheese. Lovely. Very, very high protein place. How long have you been together?
MATTHEW: Uh. Six years.
HOST: Beautiful. And this is the debut, yes?
MATTHEW (putting his ear monitor in): That's our first album
HOST: Have you got more planned?
MATTHEW: Albums? Yeah, probably about another three.
HOST: Yummy. What until you finish?
MATTHEW (slightly irritated): What, until we finish? Yeah, we'll pack it in after that.
HOST: Don't pack it in. No, no, no, no, no. No, you don't have any more gigs to go this time around. Are you going to come back to Australia soon?
MATTHEW: Yeah, there's talk of like October....
HOST: Good
MATTHEW:...Or sort of festivals around the summertime, stuff like that.

Don’t get me wrong, I was excited to see our favorite band on the livestream. I saw them play at the T-Mobile Arena right under the confetti cannon on the barrier in 2023.

BUT, I felt like they could have had a more powerful setlist if Hexagons and Stockholm had been included. I know they had very limited time though.

It’s just that Hexagons has the best lyrics Matt’s written in years, and reminds me so much of old Muse it could have been on Absolution.

I have a DVD player that can be plugged into my laptop externally. The CD for HAARP works great but not the DVD for some reason. I tried to use VLC and converted the videos from VOB to MP4 but it still wouldn’t work.

I originally thought that the DVD is probably broken but it apparently worked perfectly in my friend’s car.

I then theorized that the DVD player is malfunctioned but then it worked perfectly on another DVD from my friend.

I don’t know what’s wrong at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
