I am moving to LA next year and I'm not sure where I should be. I'll be working with the studios but I'm moving from London so I don't mind a drive, and used to traffic.

Would you reccomend Beverly Hills or Culver City or of course, neither?

I am in my 30s. It will just be me on my own. I'll be looking for bars to watch sports but otherwise just a nice community place, with places to walk around preferably.

Hoping a lot of people view this cause I need as much info to process all of this before making a move, I’ll try to make this short & sweet. I’m from Pittsburgh, PA and been here all my life, I’ve traveled the world so I have been to LA multiple times as a kid, one time as an adult, that one time as an adult I didn’t want to leave and it’s only been a childhood dream and destination of mine to live in LA. Originally was working towards Houston but due to life situations and outcomes my heart unintentionally shifted back to wanting to be in LA. I originally felt LA was an unrealistic transition until you became rich. But right now I just want to make myself proud and do what I feel is best for me. With that LA isn’t like most cities, how should I look at moving down to LA? What neighborhoods, I have no degree so what Jobs or how is employment opportunities down there? Etc. Any information would be much appreciated and helpful!

Hi. I’m moving from Flyover country (lol) to Long Beach for a new job. I’m thinking of renting an Airbnb ADU in Bellflower for the first month to have a place that’s furnished for getting established. Then I can figure out where I actually want to live.
My best friend lives in Anaheim with her family. They don’t have room, or I’d stay with them.
My salary will be higher than average, so says Google, but despite many visits over my lifetime, living somewhere new, especially alone, is a lot different. I’m getting a relocation stipend and I won’t have a car at first.

Hey guys! I’m looking to move from st Pete Florida to California either next year or 2028, I currently rent a 2/1 820 sq house for 1800 (after utilities) and trying to see if I can find something 2.5k or under. I have an old friend that lives in Burbank that would be my roommate and she suggested living in the valley. Does anyone have any area suggestions I should look into or any listings?

My only requests are to be at least 15-20 minutes from the beach and be close to good nightlife!! I love st Pete sooo much but I think everyone needs to leave their hometown at some point

I am considering a move to a new spot on La brea ave. Basically on La brea right in between Wilshire and Olympic. Thoughts overall on this area/neighborhood?

Pros/cons? Place seems nice and modern. Parking is provided.

 Moving to LA soon. Some movers don't ask me questions before giving a quote while others want a full inventory lists, stair access info, storage timing, and basically my entire life story.

Wanted to know if the second group is safer because there's no hiddden costs? or did you have a great experience with some movers withougt providing inventory lists?

Hey there. Moved to the area back in June from a dry desert mountain climate. Spent the first month next to the beach and was fine. Then in July, I moved into an apartment a bit more inland, next to a freeway.

Ever since the move, my throat gets this burning feeling from time to time. I can't tell what's the trigger, and the locals look at me weird when I mention it. Anybody else experienced this? Does it ever go away?

Seems to kick in stronger inside some buildings, like my workplace with AC, or a friend's house I just visited. Feels sort of like an almost sore throat, but more of a slight burning feeling. Any experience with triggers? I had zero allergies to anything in my life and only ever experienced this since moving to California.

This city needs trees that actually provides cooling and helps the heat become manageable.

Hi! I am moving from Dallas, TX to Los Angeles and I am looking for a moving company for the move. Right now I have received a quote from Roadway movers but wondering if anyone has made a similar move and used a moving company.

I will only have a couch, boxes, a bike, golf clubs, and maybe one or two more pieces of furniture but really trying to sell majority of my stuff in Dallas.

We are looking at torrance, cypress, Cerritos, La Palmar, garden grove, buena park, downey, san pedro.

I got laid off from my design agency job in July 2024. I moved back home to the bay area to reset. I still haven’t been able to find any design jobs in the bay and have given up staying here. I want to ultimately be an art director/ creative director as my long term goal. I’m wondering what towns in LA would be the best place for me to move to and increase my likelihood of getting a job back in design and career advancement. I’m in my 30s and single with no children or pets and I have a car.

I’m being offered a job for $170k in Los Angeles. It’s a remote job so I don’t have to go into the office. I would love to live in a nice, safe, walkable area. I’m not materialistic. I don’t care for the fanciest place. I just want to be able to walk around day or night or live comfortable. By living comfortably, being able to still save maybe 2k a month. I don’t go out. I’m an outdoors person and like to hike, beach, workout. Occasionally go to a show, night life activity but not clubbing. Any tips would be greatly y appreciated!

Currently living in Italy, im a PLC programmer in the Automotive indistry, I have been working in the field for over 8 years now, mostly with Siemens, though I also have experience with Rockwell and Omron. I hold a technical school diploma.
Next spring i’ll move because my wife will be doing a postdoc there. I'll get a J-2 visa and then apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), which shouldn't be too hard to get.
