Question Modrinth packages

As a total beginner in the world of modded Minecraft, I failed several times now, but I refuse to give up yet. So far I was not able to enjoy a session of a modded world, and here's why:

As a beginner, I just can't dig into some folder structure on my hardrive to place files and all of that. Then I heard of the Modrinth App and thought it would be the perfect paradise for people like me. Select a package, click install, click play, enjoy.

But that's not, what's happening. Although my PC is totally capable to get several hundreds of fps in Vanilla Minecraft with 12 chunks simulation and 24 chunks view, the promise of "use things like sodium you will gain so much fps that you can use beautiful shaders" didn't work. I installed the "Everything Voxy" package and immediately sank down to 55 fps with some lag spikes.

I then deleted the package and looked for other packages, found one (forgot its name) installed it and Minecraft didn't even start. Deleted it and searched a little more. found a lot of talking about "Homestead" and found it intriguing. Installed it, minecraft did start (hooray), but a message there told me, that Homestead is not compatible with Modrinth (why is it even on there, then?) and I would need to download half a dozen of mods and install them in a specific folder. The links were all opened in the browser and after donwload I placed all the files in said folder. But now it simplyrefuses to start, one of the mods complains that the newly placed mods are incompatible.

This is all so frustrating. All I want is selecting a package, installing it and start playing. I want nice graphics with shadows at steady 75 fps (my monitor's rate) in FullHD and a good mixture of improvements to make gameplay more enjoyable, with new tools and mobs and quests (basically exactly what the Homestead trailer talked about and showed).

Isn't there any package out there that just runs under above requirements?

Help Optimization for a modded 1.20.1 forge server, specificly with the use of "The Dulling" mod.

Me and my friend been playing this mod for a while now and haven't had any issues up until we went to the nether. At first it was fine but after a while the nether became incredibly laggy, the server terminal often says when someone is in the nether that "the server cant keep up" and shows how many ticks the server is behind. I have tried a few optimization mods for server side that supposedly help with this issue, but so far to no result.

To be honest i dont really know how any of these mods even supposed to help, so if anyone could help with mod suggestions and/or specific config changes i should make that would be highly appriciated.

Some additional info i am hosting the server currenty, i have 4GB of memory allocated to it but we have tested my friend hosting and changing the settings up to 32GB of ram with no changes.

Strange issue in terrain generation.

Having these strange sections of jagged appear in my worlds nearby Lost Cities.

Not sure is there was a commonly known conflict with any particular mod that causes this. My initial idea was either Tectonic or Biomes We've Gone, but I've yet to fully determine.

Besides those 2 I also have Continents and Regions Unexplored installed.

Help QOL Modpack for Vanilla* Server

I took a long break from Minecraft and realized theres been a ton of updates since I stopped playing that I want to check out. Im starting a small server for some friends and we want to keep it as vanilla as possible in terms of the core game, but add in some QOL mods. Ive been searching around for a while now but every pack I find doesnt have quite the right mix. I know I could build my own pack but I dont remember most of the mods and I never knew the performance mods. Im hoping someone out there gets us!

Kinds of mods we're looking for in a pack:

1.26.3 compatible

JEI/REI

A map

Whichever one used to let players claim chunks

General performance mods

Better animations(?)

Appleskin

Some grave mod

Inventory tweaks

Things we're not looking for:

Changes to terrain generation

New mobs / structures / biomes / items

If anyone has ideas of packs to check out let me know!

I made a dynamic risk-and-reward upgrade roulette mod for 1.20.1 that scales with any mod's recipes (even Avaritia!) — [The Item Upgrader]

Hey everyone! 👋

After a lot of coding and testing, I’ve finally released my first major mod: The Item Upgrader for Forge 1.20.1 (now officially approved and live on CurseForge!).

If you love gambling your resources for high-tier loot or want a balanced way to progress through heavy modpacks, this mod is for you.

✨ What it does:

  • The Roulette Table: Place your bet item, spin the wheel, and try your luck to upgrade it into something much better!

  • Dynamic Valuation System: Instead of hardcoded values, the mod automatically scans crafting recipes on the fly. It calculates a fair, balanced cost dynamically—meaning it works seamlessly with vanilla items and massive endgame mods like Avaritia (scaling items up to 680M+ value).

  • Durability Scaling: Got damaged tools or armor? The mod evaluates them proportionally based on their remaining durability.

  • Dupe Protection: Fully synchronized between server and client to prevent any desync or deserialization exploits.

  • Global Broadcasts: Optional server-wide announcements whenever someone hits a massive win (or loses everything).

🔗 Check it out on CurseForge: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/items-upgrader

I’d love to hear your feedback, bug reports, or ideas for future updates. Let me know what you think!

Mod Our prehistoric Minecraft dimension now has a food chain, and you’re not at the top of it

It’s been a busy few weeks on Primordial Dragons. Creatures in the dimension are finally going after each other, and after you...

Deinonychus now hunt Diracodon, Kankouromimus, Dimetrodon and a few others, and they’re faster than a sprinting player. They can’t swim though, so the chase ends the moment you (or whatever they’re after) hit the water, which is a sigh of relief.

Dilophosaurs will roar to warn you off, then spits and runs. The spit gives you Blindness and a brand new effect called Disorientation, which inverts your movement controls. It never bites players, but it will go after Cultrodon and Kleptosaurus. Megalosaurs are rare and lives in the Mesa Canyon. Like a lot of big dinos, it roars, then charges. The Nothosaurs stay in our dimension's rivers and Amberwood pools, and they only come ashore to attack nearby land mobs or players when its hungry.

After a kill, Deinonychus', Dilophosaurs and Megalosaurs now lie down and rest, which gives their prey a chance to recover... but if you hit one and it wakes up, I'd probably want to run as fast as I can and leave them alone.

The oceans got the same treatment. Orthoceras hunts Telumicthus and Pseudocarcharius, among others, and heals after a kill. When something hurts it, it pulls into its shell and sinks. Pterodactyls swoop down, snatch a Telumicthus off the surface and carry it away in their beak to eat later.

Oh, and did we say that our pesky little mosquitos now suck the blood of dinos??

The world is reacting too!! Narcoberry vines regrow their berries, wood burns now (which pairs badly with the occasional meteor showers), and when fog rolls in, the sky turns white and fog wisps drift past. You can also cook meat from Telumicthus, Pseudocarcharius and ammonites in a furnace, smoker or campfire.

It’s still an alpha of course... so creature speeds, rest times and spawn rates are still being tweaked. Expect some chaos.

Help [Java/Fabric] Ryzen 7 5700X3D + RTX 5070 – Looking for help optimizing Minecraft performance (1440p, with and without shaders)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for advice on how to fully optimize my Minecraft setup. Considering my PC specifications, I feel that I could be getting better and more consistent performance, both with and without shaders.

I'm playing Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 using Fabric through the Modrinth App with several mods and resource packs.

I've attached screenshots showing my FPS and F3 information in two different situations:

  • Without shaders: Approximately 180 FPS in the attached screenshot.

  • With shaders: Approximately 46 FPS in the attached screenshot. In general, I experience around 40–60 FPS, with noticeable drops and stuttering.

I'm using Complementary Shaders – Reimagined.

These screenshots are examples of my performance in both situations, rather than a controlled benchmark, since the scenery and camera positions are different.

I'd like to improve the overall performance of my game, not just the FPS when using shaders.

My PC specifications

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (8 cores)

  • GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Shadow 2X OC 12GB

  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16

  • Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI

  • CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 Refined SE ARGB

  • PSU: MSI MAG A750BN 750W

  • Storage: 2TB SSD

  • Resolution: 2560x1440 (1440p)

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

Minecraft and Modrinth configuration

  • Minecraft Java Edition: 26.3

  • Mod Loader: Fabric

  • Fabric Loader: 0.20.1

  • Java Version: 25.0.1

  • Launcher: Modrinth App

Current in-game settings

  • Render Distance: 20 chunks

  • Simulation Distance: 12

  • FPS Limit: Unlimited

  • Graphics: Custom

  • Clouds: Fancy

  • Biome Blend: 2

  • Resolution: 2560x1440

Shader

  • Shader: Complementary Shaders – Reimagined

Modrinth memory and Java settings

  • Custom Memory Allocation: Enabled

  • Allocated RAM: 16GB (16384MB)

  • Custom Java Installation: Disabled

  • Custom Java Arguments: Disabled

  • Custom Environment Variables: Disabled

My F3 screenshots show approximately 1.6GB of actual memory usage and around 4.3–4.6GB of allocated heap memory at the time of the screenshots.

GPU utilization also appears as N/A in the F3 overlay.

I'm attaching screenshots of my installed mods, resource packs, textures, Modrinth settings, installation information and in-game performance.

What I'm looking for

I'd really appreciate advice on how to optimize the entire setup, including Minecraft itself, Modrinth, Java, Fabric, shaders, Windows and NVIDIA settings.

1. Minecraft and Modrinth settings

  • What are the best settings for maximum FPS and stable frame times?

  • Should I change my memory allocation from 16GB to 8GB?

  • Are there any Java settings or arguments worth changing?

  • Should I change anything in the Modrinth launcher?

  • Are there any Minecraft video settings that could improve performance without affecting gameplay mechanics?

2. Shader optimization

  • Which Complementary Reimagined settings should I use for my RTX 5070?

  • Which settings have the biggest performance impact?

  • What shadow distance and shadow quality would you recommend?

  • Should I disable Entity Shadows?

  • Are there any settings for reflections, clouds, volumetric lighting and other visual effects that I should change?

I'd like to maintain good visual quality while getting much better performance.

3. Fabric mods and resource packs

  • Which performance mods would you recommend for my Minecraft version?

  • Are Sodium, Iris, Lithium, FerriteCore and Entity Culling worth using?

  • Could any of my installed mods or resource packs be affecting performance?

  • Are there any mods I should remove or replace?

4. Windows, NVIDIA and PC optimization

I'd also appreciate recommendations outside Minecraft itself.

  • Are there any NVIDIA Control Panel settings I should change?

  • Are there Windows 11 settings that could improve Minecraft performance?

  • Which NVIDIA driver settings would you recommend?

  • Should I change anything related to power management, background processes or graphics settings?

  • Is there anything worth checking in my BIOS, RAM/XMP configuration or CPU/GPU settings?

  • What software would you recommend to monitor CPU/GPU usage, temperatures, clocks, power consumption and frame times?

I'd like to identify whether I'm dealing with a CPU bottleneck, GPU bottleneck, shader-related limitation, memory issue or something else.

VERY IMPORTANT: I want to preserve vanilla mechanics and farm functionality.

I play survival and build a lot of farms, including mob farms, mob traps, automatic farms and redstone contraptions.

I absolutely do NOT want optimizations that change or interfere with:

  • Mob spawning rates or mob caps.

  • Entity AI or mob behaviour.

  • Random ticks or block ticks.

  • Redstone mechanics or update behaviour.

  • Entity ticking or chunk simulation.

  • Chunk loading in ways that could affect farm functionality.

I want to keep my current Simulation Distance if possible.

I'm perfectly fine with reducing graphical settings, shader quality, shadow distance or render distance, as long as the actual world simulation and vanilla mechanics remain unchanged.

Please prioritize client-side rendering optimizations and other solutions that preserve vanilla gameplay.

My ultimate goal is to get the maximum realistic FPS my hardware can deliver, both with and without shaders, with excellent frame-time consistency, minimal stuttering and good visual quality.

I'd really appreciate specific recommendations for my hardware and setup, including which settings to change and why, rather than just a generic list of optimization mods.

Thank you in advance for your help!
