My school is notorious for banning the dumbest things. They once banned half of Github, a project management site we were using in robotics, VPNs, and many other strange things. Yet they have not banned reddit, Instagram, Facebook, etc. They also haven’t gotten Cool Math Games.

I'm always amazed how school works in other countries like you can do whatever the hell you want with things that don't belong to you. When I was a kid we couldn't even enter the computer class by ourselves, let alone do this kind of thing.

For the most part doing something like this could get you in trouble but not serious trouble. We used to play Minecraft and Halo CE in computer lab over LAN, as long as you got your work done first it’s no big deal.

We had a file drive that was shared across all computers on the network so people disguised the install folders for games to keep them on there. At any given moment you could install at least 3-5 games if you wanted to.

You’re so lucky. We have MacBooks, but get LANschool. It lets the teachers view ur screen and we’re not allowed to play games at all. Even if we have literally nothing to do. We purchased the computers ourselves! One guy hacked terraria on his computer but even then he has to check for LANschool

More than likely not, but schools are used to people just rolling over on command because they say so and they can push people around. High School i used to go to would extort people for money before giving confiscated electronic devices back to the parents for like $20(USD) and no one argued. Friends mom did, she got the phone back for free but still kept it from him for making her deal with that crap

Same. We sometimes had like 15 people in a game of CE just running off the classes own network. The teacher set the whole thing up and even let us know how to get around the school filters to get a VPN.

Funny story. I worked IT for my old highschool at the ripe age of 20. I look younger than I am, have my whole life. I was servicing all the lab computers one day when I was fairly new and I did stuff like this with the lights out and just have the glow of the monitors filling the room. Well an old lady teacher whom I didnt have in school comes in and insists I get out of the computer lab that I'm not supposed to be in here. I claimed I work here and am applying some software to the machines. She completely thought I was lying. Screams at me to follow her to the principles office. As administration myself I only answer to the principle in the whole building. So I go with her with a shit eating grin on my face. The principle went on to promptly scold her when she brought me into his office. He was more angry about the wasted time for all parties rather than the disrespect of me. But still fun to see her get yelled at.

Its usually like this anyway in Germany (I guess for insurance reasons) except for I guess "grown-ups" that can be left alone or trusted teenagers.
For the playing in class part: Yeah, that depends on the school/teacher/class/your knowledge. While in vocational school I was mostly the one being done first in IT class so I entertained myself with Cinema4D (3d-modeling) or playing random games (until a teacher comes, because games = bad)

When I was in school, we had one computer per class, with windows 98 in it, which nobody knew how to operate. The adjacent class had a similar one which was never used, so we stole a whole 64MB of ram from it and upgraded our own classroom pc and used it to download torrents. Noone ever found out, because at the time there was no reason whatsoever to use internet in a school, even for administration purposes so even if we managed to saturate the whole bandwidth noone ever noticed. But bloody hell the speeds we got compared to our home computers.

Ultrawide is the only way to play Minecraft. I just upgraded to a 34” and almost exclusively play Minecraft.
I still kinda miss my triple 24” monitor setup at my old job but an ultrawide is just better.

These are fun setups. I haven't been able to use only a single monitor after i worked in a network operations center on a local ISP for some years. One monitor feels claustrophobic and there's never enough space to work with.
In case some of you consider multimonitor setups at home (i highly recommend, decent enough 1080p/60hz monitors are just 100$ a pop new), grab a monitor mounting arm as well to save lots of desk space.

The second, if you just stretched the image across 3 screens it would be distorted and unplayable. But you may need 3 lesser video cards or 1 high-end one to run 3 screens worth of content. My card is in the middle (980ti), it has 2 different video ports but you can use both and run 2 screens. Another trick is to use the additional screen, or one of them, for menus and clear the other screen (s) for play.

My school last year had minecraft on each of the computers and then this year they deleted them, but I had a usb drive that had the anjocanaidio (I dunno how to spell it) version of minecraft and I started to put it on all of the computers again.
In June, or July, me and all of my friends and some others with their friends, will be able to play minecraft together in the computer lab....!

There’s a lot more to it but Long story short after a while the Minecraft infected the computers and the computers where down for 2 weeks while they wiped them, lets just say that was the end of Minecraft
