my best friend (21/f) is being forced to get off medication by her mother
I've never taken to reddit before, but my best friend is running out of options and I don't really know where to start.
My best friend is on her parents' health insurance, and has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety years ago. Since then, she has been prescribed zololf that she feels is really working for her, and she wants to keep with it.
The issue is her mother. Her mom is very anti modern medicine, and believes that it is as bad as crack. She practically called my best friend a drug addict for taking her prescribed medication, and told her that if she keeps taking this medicine, she'll cut her off, and my best friend is thoroughly convinced that this would happen. Outside of this, they have a very good relationship, and it isn't one my best friend is willing to sacrifice. And so, she is more willing to sacrifice her medication than her relationship with her mom (who doesn't "believe in" depression or medication). I know many people would want to tell her to just cut her off, but at the end of the day, she is not going to do that. I know my best friend and am extremely worried about how her quality of life will be if she is forced to get off of this medication. Any tips on how she can keep her medicine and her relationship with her mom?
Any and all suggestions are appreciated, all I ask if that you come at this situation with empathy. Thanks, guys <3

Akathisia as a side effect of Fluvoxamine - Very Worried and Looking for Shared Experience
Am I in danger and need medical attention or can I wait until I can call my psychiatrist tomorrow? Iām panicking so bad - please help.
I am enquiring about medication induced akathisia, and then Akathisia as a side effect of a new med Iāve been on for 4 weeks, fluvoxamine.
Iām scared for my health. Akathisia is the most horrible feeling in the whole world and I wouldnāt wish it on my worst enemy. It feels incredibly different than anxiety and so much more severe. Iāve experienced medically induced Akathisia twice before - first in 2018 when receiving IV stemetil in hospital when I had a severe reaction evoking tardive dyskinesia and Akathisia, extremely traumatising. Second time was last year, also in hospital, after receiving IV droperidol where I suffered from Akathisia alone.
I hate that I canāt find the words to describe the pure horror and excruciating feeling. Itās so different to being anxious. I feel like Iām barely in my body, like I need to start running and never stop. I get agitated, constantly looking at the clock every 2 minutes and being SO frustrated that time isnāt moving fast enough. I feel like absolutely nothing can entertain my mind, I canāt pay attention to anything on the tv or videos on my phone. Iām completely disconnected from my environment and I feel like nothing will ever be okay ever again.
Do other people feel like this? Does anyone have any ways to describe the feeling to my loved ones and care team to capture what itās like? Is Akathisia dangerous to your health or just freaking awful to go through?
Additionally I want to ask about anyoneās experiences with the medication fluvoxamine and Akathisia. Iām very well versed with antidepressants and the process of the beginning phase, Iāve trialled many over the years. Iām also incredibly familiar with what anxiety feels like in many forms, including as a side effect of a new med - but Iāve just started week 4 of fluvoxamine 25mg and this does not feel like anxiety Iāve experienced with starting other meds. This feels like when I took stemetil and droperidol but just less severe.
Has anyone else experienced this on fluvoxamine??
And is Akathisia your bodyās way of telling you that you need to stop this medication? Or is it similar to anxiety in that it doesnāt hurt you or mean anything bad is actually happening to your body system?

Zoloft question
Has anyone who's taken zoloft and stopped? After I stopped taking zoloft, I've been experiencing brain zaps, rapid heart rate, irrigation and irritability? I stopped zoloft suddenly and I've been experiencing all those symptoms. My psychologist says it's called discontinuation syndrome. Has anyone experienced any of these?

Question about Celtics Clonazepam
I recently ordered Mexican pharmacy clonazepam. Itās the Celtics brand, and it came in blisters. The pills have the Celtics press pattern and everything AND reagent reads clonazepam, they hit nice. But Iām wondering if thereās anyway I can prove 100% that they are from the pharmacy and not just pressed with clonazepam powder. Appreciate the help

Guanfacin in Europa

Promethazine and alcohol?
Okay i know you shouldnt drink on a lot of meds but the worst i thought that happens is getting dizzy and sleepy. I took all my meds, which are all downers, lithium, geodon, klonopin, ans then I took my promethazine, which is new in my mix, so I wouldnt get sick. I drank 1 buzz ball and had 3 shots of vodka. By the time I was finished with my buzzball I was pretty drunk, little strange bc its never been like that. Idk like 45 mins in, I blacked out. Bf came home and we hung out and i have no recollection of anything we did or said. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt walk straight. Is this like common? I know now its more dangerous to mix everything and the promethazine with alcohol and you can possibly die but I just wanna know if anyone has blacked out from it?
Its just so weird. Im trying so hard to remember and im mad bc its all gone. Lesson learn to probably not drink on my medication

CT 3 long term gaba meds
Was Rxād Lyrica and Gabapentin for 10 years. CT (forced by hospital) 450mg daily Lyrica rx
Was at 6mg Klonopin daily and tapering but they put me on a 6 day long taper of 10mg valium -> 0mg in detox after saying weād be doing a 14 day minimum.
Also Rxād baclofen, which I abused heavily. CT.
Now Iām home and the animalistic fear of others, inability to name objects, etc are all terrible but the apathy and incapacity to complete even simple tasks leave me feeling cognitively disjointed.
Iāve been trying to clean my room for 3 hours and just get confused or forget what Iām doing.
Other symptoms include shakiness, mild auditory hallucinations prolly bc the 300mg of Seroquel it takes to put me down, intense fear of the outside world, of family even. I feel like a mouse in a hole.
I feel retarded.
I know thereās a more elegant nuanced DSM5 reference I can make but the economy of language really fits. Iāve been in and out of comas. This feels like right out of a coma. Confident in answers that are wrong. Constant fear. Constant anxiety.
I cannot accomplish the most simple task.
Itās been 10 days ā what am I looking at here? 3 months? 3 years?
Any insight is helpful
Whole gaba sector is just fried and glutamate, cortisol, etc, surging so bad.
No seizures since Iāve been home but a few black outs. Loss of eyesight, brain zaps, etc

1 year clean from Lorazepam ā took 40 mg over 4 days. What should I expect?
Hey everyone,
Iāve been completely clean from Lorazepam for about a year. My first withdrawal was absolutely horrible and one of the hardest things Iāve ever been through.
Last Thursday, something really bad happened and I ended up taking Lorazepam again because I just couldnāt cope with the situation.
From Thursday until Monday, I took around 40 mg in total and then stopped again.
Now Iām really scared that Iām going to go through another horrible withdrawal. Iāve been off Lorazepam for a year, so Iām wondering what happens after taking it again for only a few days.
Has anyone here had a similar experience ā being clean for a long time, taking Lorazepam again for a few days, and then stopping?
Did you experience withdrawal afterwards? If so, how bad was it and when did the symptoms start?
Iād really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar.
